Decorative threads for the Baby Lock Applaud
Sergers and cover stitch machines can use much heavier decorative thread and ribbons. This is particularly the case with the new Baby Lock Applaud where we have wipers that carry the threads.

New Baby Lock Applaud Coverstitch Machine with wipers
มุมมอง 4.6K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
The new Baby Lock Applaud is a new Coverstitch machine with Dual Wipers. It is great for the anyone who wants that `industrial flatlock` stitch that you see on `ready made` knits. However, it is also a great machine for decorative stitching. The machine can cope with much heavier thread than a sewing machine so the possibilities are endless. I see this machine as a thread painter with different...

Blanket Stitch on the Serger

Blanket stitch is such a great edge stitch for bilied wool, fleece garments and blankets. This video is about how to set up and sew this stitch. I am using the Baby Lock Triumph but the technique is the same for all machines.

Great information. Thanks.
Can two twelve weight threads be put through the loopers?
I do it all the time--you likely will need to use a “thread” cradle or bypass the airthreader for 8wt
2 12wt works fine to
I’ve used “thin” cotton crochet yarn with great results also
Really interested in the topic but so disorganised.
I've just ordered both the micro foot accessories, stitch in ditch and the cording/ribbon sets. Do they at least come in a nice foam box to insert the tiny things into or do I need to come up with an accessory storage idea?
It is beautiful Deb
Great inspiration Deb! You're right, we just have to remember what we have!
Just found your channel, Deb. Right up my alley! My newest craze is decorative stitching but not a clue where to begin. I have a lovely Babylock serger and beautiful Bernina sewing machines so I think I’m ready to go! Thanks so much for this channel.
Wonderful!
I dont know if i can ask this clearly but if i put the new table on the triumph can i use a guide with the blade down
Yes you can. Good idea
Don’t understand where the second line of stitches went. Did you sew over part of the gold stitches to make the 2 lines of color?
Yes. The first stitching was wide. The second is narrow.
Deb likes to live dangerously with that knife 😉. What a great application of these threads!!! Let your imagination run wild ….. a solid thread next to a variegated thread etc. Cuffs, collars, plackets. I love this. Thank you Deb!🥰
I know. I do love the knife up as a guide.
How to make corner with this trim?
Best advice is just to serge off the ends. Come back and stitch the other sides. I would add that putting your corner right up to t he needles will really help to keep the corner sharp. There will be room in the stitch to thread the thread tails under the back of the stitching.
I have recently been given a BabyLock Evolution. I printed the manual but it’s not simple to apply. The giver requested I make her a few (4) simple quite “stretchy” material dresses. I need to take a pattern off the dress she gave me but…Do you have a video that will help me get the best use of my Evolution? I’ve never used a serger before. THANK YOU!

Thank you, so helpful.
I am so happy I found your You Tube. I am learning so much. Thank you for sharing. 👍🏻
Great infor thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I've been waiting for some more videos for the Applaud. thank you. I bought mine a month ago.
Great to hear!
Love you bags, I hope you will create a pattern to sell
What is the jacket pattern? It is beautiful!
Thank so much!
Thank you for keeping this vlog posted - you are a fantastic teacher!
What size needles are you using?
Thank you so much for these wonderful vlogs using the Applaud -I am looking forward to lots more of your creative instructions!! I want to join your Applaud club!!
I’m wondering, could you do the decorative edge on the edge of a thin quilt instead of binding?
How does one sew non stretchy, gathered fabric on to the elastic band? Same method? I am scared to try 😅
What thread can I use in the applaud I just got mine
Yes, rulers are great!
My Applaud just got here today! I need to rearrange my room to make a permanent place for it, but I couldn’t have it and not play with it. I know I need “wheels for my Rolls”. So, knowing that I took your advice when I brought the Ovation, are things like the 3/4” belt loop binder going to be duplicates? I have all of the Ovation attachments. I’m trying to decide if I should purchase the foot kit or just the mini feet? I saw a confusing reply, not from you, to another’s question about the feet and attachments.
Love this!!! Love the person who suggested, Lower knob is Length!! L-L!!! Thank you!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!!
Love the bag, the tee and dress. Got them. Do you have the bag pattern?
Thank you love it. Cleared up a lot.
Enjoy your online sessions
Very informative. 😊
Hello…I am new to serging and have just now found your videos. They are wonderful. I want to make reversible napkins…2 different fabrics of course. Will a rolled hem work with 2 layers please?
I have the Ovation and love the wave stitch. If it was just for the wave I'd go with the new Aniversery one. I like the Applaud and it's coverstitch. Love the new features
"Euphoria on Steroids!" Sounds like an unexpected drug reaction! I'm planning on getting one of these soon.
Can you use the snap on feet for the ovation?
Yes, it comes with a standard foot and it has a list of the other feet and guides that you can use with it
I just got my Applaud last night; this content was super helpful and enlightening! Thank you for covering so much ground! I love heavy threads too and have already tried it with yarn with success!
My sewing studio will be this exact combination. I have a Baby Lock Enlighten 4-thread and I will be getting an Applaud!
@@thekirksiffs5285 I love it! I had an Enlighten for many years; she was such a workhorse and never any trouble but when I sold my Ovation I traded up to the Acclaim and the Euphoria. I like having those functions separate. I hope you love the Applaud as much as I do. She’s simple to thread and use. Not fussy at all.
What was the setting for the blanket stitch. You did had your paper it information but couldn’t quite see settings
I have my Elna Covermax pro that does the top decorative stitch but with only 1 thread. I use it mostly to coverstitch and it has the free arm that is great for hems. Obvi I will be buying this machine for the decorative stitches with the double wipers.
Your projects look so fun. I am fairly at serging. My granddaughter wants me to start making her dance competition outfits. 🙂 and I am excited to learn something new.
Thank you for all of the infor, just got is machine and I love it🥰
I am very interested in this machine, but it's not available in the UK until next week, where it is known as the Primo
Yes that is correct. It was going to be the Primo in the USA too but they had to find another name.
Is this machine better then the cover pro 3000 Janome machine?
You need to go and check it out and decide for yourself. It is a little different.
it would be perfect if it could also so the wave stitch.
Yes but that is a serger stitch. Perhaps one day we will have a combo with wipers. I am just glad we have this.
I agree. I've always wished they'd come with a double coverstitch like it's rival. From what I've seen on this machine with top and bottom stitches, it's better. I love my Ovation.
@deborahcanham2618 is there an order that you should thread the machine or does it not matter? Thanks
Baby Lock has an anniversary 4 thread serger with wave stitch out now. it is a smaller footprint than the acclaim. Same chassis as the older Imagine and Enlighten machine, but with a little bit of green coloring.
❤😊
You covered so many ideas. I’m saving this one for future watches. I am a quilter and recently bought an Acclaim, Euphoria and Sashiko 2 to challenge myself to learn new techniques. This I found exciting. You’re amazing! Quirky, but amazing and lots of fun. Was a teacher in my other life for forty years. Thank you.
No matter how many times I watch this, I always learn something. Thank you.
great didnt know that tyvm
Love your use of bright colors with everything you have made on your wall as well as the sewing mannequin. One of my fave things to do is make napkins, I made them many moons ago, now I have a better serger and I look forward to using it, I find your serging instruction interesting and informative, and I will check out your other videos.
Yes I hear you
