The strange thing is, even the criticisms they had that I thought were valid were just straight up not true. Like, i have not had ANY performance issues in my entire 20 hours of playing. Its not nearly as bad as echoes of wisdom. And it does still feel like a proper m&l game fundamentally. Like I dont understand how the guy who reviewed it can claim to be a fan of the series and not enjoy this game. Its practically a love letter to the m&l series fans

After starting the game I haven't seen performance issues that hinder the gameplay yet. Maybe, I haven't gotten far enough to be effected by them. However, all games just need to be optimized for the hardware. Also, remember that consoles are inexpensive compared to getting a more powerful gaming PC, which may have less performance issues. However, to counter that argument also, there are some games that perform worse on PC than the console version because of poor optimization.

And you say you have more than 100 Switch games? Here’s an idea: rather than complain about its performance and Nintendo’s lack of Switch 2 announcement, how about focus on finishing your backlog? Because once Switch 2 drops would you honestly go back to clearing your Switch 1 backlog with the new hardware when new software will be dropping?

Since when has Nintendonhad to compete with the PS5 and the Xbox? They're in their own lane. And has beaten them both out wirh inferior hardware. Usually, the games that underperform are the 3rd party, multiplat ports. And funny enough, some of those are optimized and surprisingly good. This is no different from games on the other two systems. They have issues as well.

Performance issues are definitely an issue and should be noted in a game review. However, history has shown that certain high profile games still get excellent scores with horrid glitching that reviewers ignore. The main thing is to play the game yourself and enjoy it without having outside noise spoil or stop you from your experience. Things are different today. There was a different or more professional standard and style with print publications of the past vs. our current online environment. Since you are on the topic of Nintendo - take Nintendo Power. Although used to advertise Nintendo games, you would get breakdowns of graphics, sound design, music, difficulty, performance and even fun factor. Although a review is subjective, writers seemed to hold a higher standard of putting his or her name on something - knowing that what they wrote was not only to inform a reader but also knowing that their words could effect the spending habits of multitudes of people. For gaming, it also seemed that reviewers also had an excitement about gaming or the specific game genre that sometimes seems to be missing from the personal attitude of some today. From what I have seen, it looks like a graphically pleasing, fun RPG going down the brothership path shown in the recent movie. Performance should be noted, but the music, graphical style, and characters ooze that fun, uppity heart warming vibe - which seems the direction they wanted to go. Definitely above a 5, but we will see when I play it! Have a great day!

I think its because that Brothership was made on the UNREAL Engine. And Unreal Engine games run iffy on Switch. Thats why its getting a mediocre score.

The old Mario & Luigi games did NOT hold your hand. I hate that Nintendo is dumbing games down for kids nowadays that have 0 attention spans because of their iPad childhood. I struggled heavily on those games as a child, especially Partners In Time, but the reward of beating that hard boss or level far outweighed the pain of the struggle. Everything is too easy now.!

I watched through their whole review and honestly i think their review was fair and more descriptive than your average journalist (a low bar). They could've given it a more charitable 6 or 7, but at the end of the day scores are subjective. I'm betting some people will dislike the game due to not being able to control Luigi, and other reasons stated.

Mario isn't owe'd anything, he isn't the "first game character" the original smb was actually awful as a actual game, Nintendo had to cheat it's way to the top, via screwing over Ikegami on the Donkey Kong source code, before going into videogames, Nintendo were nobodies in the 70s arcade scene, unironically had to get help from SEGA to localize it's 70s games to america, before the 2000s, Nintendo was just another secondary entertainment company that played no role in anyone's elses lives, Gamer Culture was as mistake

Which Shantae game is this? I've played all the Shantae games but I don't recognize these graphics or the character art of Shantae herself. Also Pirates Curse is my favourite game in the series but Seven Sirens is a close second!
