Solar 100% off the Grid
So we have installed the exterior security lights connected to the solar system. We are 100% off the grid.
Next up we will catch rain water to service the bathroom water supply. This will give us options for water supply to the house.

Visiting the Chickens
มุมมอง 8714 วันที่ผ่านมา
We wanted our chickens to be free range but the predators were many. Including our neighbor's dogs. So we had to put them on lockdown in order to keep them safe. What do you suggest for our chickens? I learn so much from these animals. The chicken community is incredible.

Installing Underground Water Ducts in Ghana Off Grid
มุมมอง 494 หลายเดือนก่อน
We had to get this repair completed before the rainy season. Without these water ducts we would experience heavy flooding and it would make it difficult to enter the driveway. We also widen the driveway entrance and strengthened it because large trucks were having difficulty driving into the yard. Recently the rains have been quite vicious. @offgridlivinginafricaluv
Tomato Seedlings Off Grid Ghana Garden

We have now completed our garden beds and ready to get some seeds in the ground. So we have used sawdust, burned sawdust, black soil, and chicken manure. We are taking advantage of the sloping terrain and utilizing the excess water during the rainy season. We left two beds without a block perimeter. Those beds without blocks house our papaya trees and our tall okra plant. @offgridlivinginafricaluv

    What will you spray the bamboo with, as I struggle with termites here in Grenada!

    • @offgridlivinginafricaluv
      @offgridlivinginafricaluv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please email me and I can send the information for the termites

    • @lifeinthecountrysidehome
      @lifeinthecountrysidehome ปีที่แล้ว

      Back home in Grenada, we use old car oil to paint the bamboo. If you have a little more money and can afford you can buy sevens powder. Sprinkle on the ground around the base of the structure or you can dig small holes and put the sevens powder into it or mix with water and paint onto the bamboo. Chinese use an old ancient method where they pass all the bamboo through the fire until they become semi-chared. you can then use sandpaper or a metal brush to lightly sand some of the blackness off. This one really works in preventing termites and the bamboo from rotting too fast. There are also other chemicals that you can use but They are not available in Grenada. I hope this info was helpful to you.
