SP Connect Plus Moto Mount and Mirror Mount Review | Totally Motors

As you may know, smartphones are essential pieces of kit for us. They're our sat navs, they capture footage and photos, they control GoPros, they carry all our info for bikes loans, etc, etc. So well-designed smartphone accessories are also essential. Big thank you to @spconnect for sorting us out with all of this. Some will be used on our garage-find #Kawasaki - you can expect a video on that ...

    I once owned a Piaggio MP3 400 which is very similar to this hike. I now own a Can Am Spyder and a Suzuki Burgman 650 AN Executive. I understand you're reviewing the Peugeot but the Can Am Spyder is a great but different to this type of bike. Yes it has 3 wheels but they are much wider and therefore (at least in my opinion) even more stable than this type of bike. I enjoyed riding the MP3 I love the Burgman and I love the Can Am. I don't think the Peugeot was sold in Australia (where I live), the Piaggio's were not big sellers either sadly as they were ideal for those who were new to riding and were worried about holding up a big bike or those who were having some mobility issues (perhaps due to age) but still wanted to ride. Holding up a bigger bike (my previous ride was a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700) was the reason I went to the Spyder. Thanks for your review.

      I’ve also got the red 2023 - it’s perfect for how I ride. I need one that has plenty of highway speed but I don’t need tons of low torque. Strictly a street/hwy rider. We used to say “sport” or “super sport”. The term “sport tourer” really doesn’t fit. You aren’t going to “tour” on an R7 or a cbr650r or even a Ninja 650. But terminology is what it is.

  • @mike1967sam
    @mike1967sam 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks. This was a very sensible and accurate assessment of both these bikes. I had both. I'm 55 almost 56, I had the 2023 Hornet for 3 months but then I exchanged it for a second hand 2020 CB650R with 9000 km on it. I was very lucky because the CB650R already came with beautiful engine guards that blend in with the color of the engine extremely well and not with sliders that look like mushrooms are growing out the side of the engine. It also came with a tail tidy and a quickshifter. I think the Hornet performs very well and in acceleration (both with quickshifters) is slightly faster than the CB650R, but the difference is minimal we're talking tenths of a second from 0 to 100 and 2 seconds from 0 to 200 the Hornet gets there faster. Nevertheless the Hornet is restricted and cuts the throttle at 222 kph whereas as the CB650R pushes on and depending on conditions it will take you beyond 235 to 242. To conclude these are not the traits that sold me on either bike, like I said I'm 55 riding since 1992, it was purely the aesthetic of the CB650R compared to an ugly duckling that may grow on you (no pun intended) but Honda did a very poor job in terms of the Hornet's looks, although I would say that the Hornet is s bit more fun to ride. Cheerio, Mike.

      @@JackkClarke yeah all good so far mate, cant really complain on the whole, it feels and rides lovely (if not massively quick but its a modern day 125 so it is what it is) looks amazing, seems to run on air alone as the fuel lasts forever lol, started first time every time, some minor niggles like condensation in the TFT display, few squeaks etc but nothing really. I havent been able to ride it as much as i would of liked due to weather/time but summer is coming soon! Would recommend but cant comment on its capabilities vs the Aprilia rs125 or Yamaha R125 as ive not rode them and dont know anyone who has had the contemporary 4 stroke versions im afraid. Thanks!@@simonh1791 So far the cheapest I can get it for is £3,499 + £200 OTR fee (£3699) so still cheaper than a MT125 or R125 but the insurance is throwing me off! £1300/yr! I've seen a few comments and videos about condensation in the display but not seen any major damage caused by it. Wont be a heavy ride just to/from work daily so 20 miles a week roughly. Having a hard time finding my first 125cc haha. decisions decisions... The SINNIS GPX 125 was my other choice for £2300K + £706/yr insurance.

    I’d be interested in seeing how you get on with this. I had an SPConnect back in 2020 (so it wasnt the plus version) and found it was hard to use the mount, I could easily knock the phone off the mount, and I could always twist the socket on the back of the phone by hand which then got stuck and I couldn’t use it. I did love the case though. I ended up selling the full kit (I had it for both my motorcycle and mtb) and ended up buying the Quadlock to replace it. I’ve not had any issues with the quadlock at all and I’ve even dropped the phone from about 3.5m onto a hard floor and it was fine. I ended up upgrading to the waterproof wireless charger for the bike and i love it.

  • @toofastnobrakes

    I’d like to point out one thing that you kind of have wrong about the original sportster. The original sportster was never advertised as a girls bike or a beginner bike. It was literally designed to be lighter faster and have better performance than the other Harleys at the time. And in that sense the new sportster leans heavily into that part of its heritage. Which I appreciate. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a big fan of the current exhaust note. But a Decent pipe helps this bike a lot. My biggest gripe with it however is that they didn’t lean hard enough into the sport part of its heritage. In my opinion this bike should’ve come with a little bit taller seat height, the optional mid controls should have been standard, dual disc brakes. And as cool as it looks, the 160 front tire needs to go,. This bike is begging for more corner clearance and nimbleness. They should have made this bike a modern version of the XR 1200

    • @totallymotors
      @totallymotors ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a 'girls bike' as such - but in the latter stage of its life, it was the one model that was used in direct marketing to women. There was a dedicated marketing campaign to get more women riding and the last version of the old Sportster was the model that was chosen as it was the smallest, lightest and most approachable for a new rider. So its public image had changed somewhat, compared to its heritage. I do agree about the cornering clearance - you can't lean it over very much.
