Hi everyone! We're here now his beautiful and heavenly eyes! I started off this portrait using just the set of 12 pencils by Faber Castell so my choices were limited at this point... I do add more colours later on as this beautiful White Maine Coon evolves into the Christmas Cat Angel! What's your favourite part of any animal portrait, to draw or watch?, I love doing the animal's eyes, it is a key part in getting the feel of the animal, it can't be rushed so take time here if you need it.😃

Hi everyone! now for tackling the background! I tried various methods for blending in the pastel stick which I applied first - Daler Rowney black, I just use my finger usually, seems to work fine for this kind of background. I added a lovely dark blue over the black which enriches the overall look of the black. What's your favourite method for blending in on a background like this? let me know here 😀in the comments!

Hi everyone. So here we are at the end of our cute puppy, he's full of colour and I like him! In this video I show how you how I sign my pictures before framing. I's taken me some time to be this organised and plan what size mount I will use for each picture! I really hope you have found this helpful. it certainly is one of the things I would love to have seen here on TH-cam 14 years ago when I started drawing. having said that though, I'm so grateful for all the amazing teachers here on TH-cam I have learned pretty well everything here for free, this is why it gives me so much pleasure to give this help to all drawers that want it for free! As always, drawing is the most giving, learning curve for me, when I watch back my videos, I see what I've missed! Just shows, it's not possible to see all that needs to be done to improve our pictures at one sitting! Making these videos is teaching me, no doubt, not only how to make videos and do TH-cam, but draw better to! All good then! We're coming to the finishing touches to our little puppy now.... these are what make 100% of the difference to our pictures, it's good to take your time over this. I leave the picture up and as I glance at it over maybe a week I will see what I can do to improve it. We have to be careful not to over do these final touches, when I try and get them done in one go it doesn't work as well for me. Then clarifying his head and ear area darker patches to add dimension and a 3D look. And yes! the timer is operational! Hi everyone, in this video I show how to get the 3 D effect, it's all too easy to end up with a very flat looking cat! I show how I get all the mapping out done and then starting to mix the pastel pencils on the page. I show also how easy it is to get the nose marked in to exactly the right place by using our carefully traced on white lines. Has anyone drawn this beautiful cat? Hi everyone! See how I wipe the pencil whenever I have drawn near the black, it' makes a big difference to your finished picture if you can keep the black out of the lighter hairs. I use the pastel pencils very differently to how I'd use them on other pastel papers, you can press quite hard on pastelmat paper and still add more colour onto of those firmly made marks. Hi everyone! well, this is quite a typical thing that happens when I draw a picture, it's all a learning curve for me all the time...I wasn't happy with how my background was going. It just wasn't intense in colour enough for my liking and yet I didn't want a block of intense colour either, so I just went for it! I'm trying to replicate the background in my reference photo.I knew this would be a long job on the background, so if you're drawing the puppy please feel free to do what you want with the background, don't try this at home!!! Unless you are experienced or want to go on the big learning curve along with me! Please let me know how you get on with the background and what you decided to do with your own picture.
