I've always thought it was weird that the narration describes Ruud as "not human" after he gets shot. To me, one of the strong-points of this scene is the notion it presents that having empathy for and humanizing your enemies enables you to understand and engage with them better, even in circumstances of violence. To declare that Ruud is beyond humanity really undercuts that theme.

This whole scene was magnificent but I genuinely started to cry around 22:23 My Harry had been trying so hard to become someone new, someone better that when I him refuse to go down, to drift away - I was ecstatic with joy, good tears shed because it wasn't over. We still had a case to solve.

After passing the canal the inland empire told me to pull my gun out, so out of fear I also equipped all the armor I have. Ended up saving my life.

I love how there's a difference between "The lieutenant trusts you" and "Kim 'truly' trusts you." Kim doesn't just trust you as a lieutenant and an officer of the law, he trusts you as a person, Kim to Harry.

After failing to talk down anyone and everyone, including Ruby from killing herself and Gardener, I fired first successfully and dodged Ruud's shot against awful odds. But I was never more terrified of getting a bad roll at 92% with saving Kim. Success, he lived. I've never been more afraid for another man's life than him.

Isn't it funny how a moment like this was way more intense than most action packed scenes from other games and even movies?

the first time I played this scene I got one of the better outcomes despite having pretty low chances with most of the skill checks, and it felt like my heart was beating at 120 beats per minute the entire time

I remember first playing this game when it came out and reaching this point; hitting the bastard in the head too. Unfortunately I got hit in the return fire before Kim could save me, but God damn that moment was epic, I still sometimes think back to it...

So who does other than Glen and the Mercs? No one?! Because in my play through, I missed the shot on the commander, and Titus, Glen, and a couple others died, but Kim still hit the two other mercs (Kim carried I guess) but not before they shot the others :(

On my first try i choose not to shoot thinking i could smooth talk my way out of this. Didn't work and then when I'm down kim is about to get shot and i see an authority check, one of my dump stat with the ledger of failure equipped (-2), i audibly screamed "no!" I think this shootout moment was a privilege for me as both a player and a reader. It's unlikely that your first game was Disco elysium. Most likely, you came to this game with extensive gaming experience behind you. But damn, how fucking amazing it is to feel the tension of this moment of shooting, where you don’t even see the enemy in the face, but you feel your finger on the trigger! An indescribable feeling.

one of my favourite moments of the game was the lymbic system saying "he only gets WOOOOOOOORSSSSSSSSEE"

Having to contest with your Limbic System as it begs you to give up and find peace in death was one of the most upsetting and heartbreaking things in a game of heartbreaking moments. But the lines following it are some of the most beautiful things you will ever hear, realising that you survived, and you will live to fight another day.

When Harry is shot, option 4 is the cannon option to me. Him admitting to Kim that he made it all up. That's what I believe Harry was doing the entire time.

This is such an inversion of the Ruby encounter. Its a great lesson on the ethic of restraint. When talking to Ruby, you get increases to the check to disable the machine when you talk to her. But as you talk to her and piece everything together, you learn why attacking there is not a good idea, but you are "tricked" into going for it as you keep getting positive modifiers. Here, as you try to talk the tribunal down, you get points for throwing the leader off balance, and as you keep talking you learn there is no negotiation, so now you know its the right time to use force. Very high concept.

this was the only scene where my mum looked up how to do it right while she was playing. she wanted as few people to die as possible - she played through it once and got the best possible outcome, but was sure she had done something wrong. she so wanted to save everyone she could. we went through it step by step and reloaded on failed checks because she wanted Kim, the boys, everyone to be alright. it's painfully real that in the end people will die and there's no way around it. all you can do is your best. she didn't have every single dialogue option, you can still get the best outcome for this scene without all the facts. neither of us could watch when Harry shouted to Kim to avoid de Paul's shot - we only looked when the narration confirmed Kim had taken the gun. I still get butterflies when I watch it even though I know he'll be OK, and won't even die if it fails... just the idea of Kim getting hurt makes me feel a bit sick lol it really is a scene you wish you could experience again for the first time over and over and over... I like to introduce people to this game just because I know people will get to this point and will get to live through it. Through all of the game actually. it's something people should experience, I think.

When i got the ending, it said six dead- three Hardies (angus, the old one who's name escapes me, and glen) and all three RCM. That +2 'Kim REALLY trusts you' came in clutch, still fucking balled my eyes out when Kim woke me up after i'd gotten shot twice, lmao. So not ideal but still pretty fuckin good, apparently. I would've kinda of liked to cruise with cuno, though.

I played this scene fucking drunk. I rolled good for all the red rolls, all of them succeeded only to fail. Why? Later I realized I had the "all red checks fail" still going on and didnt realize it, because I was drunk. A fitting drunk's take on it. I went to the island with Cuno, and finally, he had my back.

Playing this last night (im playing this game for the first time) and it gave me chills. This is my favorite part of the game (I have to save this to another slot so I can repeat this scene again). And I got to survive with Kitsuragi. Very edge of your seat scene.

I felt so overwhelmed and caught off guard by this scene, because I always knew that it was coming but I always thought I still had time. I was so fucking worried about Kim, lol. What a game...

21:14 - This scene was so tense when I first played it. I heard that Kim could die when I was reading about this game and thought that this was the moment it happened. "The woman is gone. So is Kim." I thought he'd died, he'd given his life to save mine. I was so relieved when I woke up to Kim's voice saying "Sunrise, Parabellum." Wow, just wow. This whole game is such an experience. It's such a shame that there won't be a Disco Elysium 2.

I just finished this arc of the game and HOLY SHIT WAS THIS AMAZING. I had already spent most of my skillpoints panicking in the Ruby encounter thinking I'd die and specking my Rhetoric so she wouldn't off herself. Had a 40% jump to 80% and saved her. Before that however, I had a save state which was broken when I was talking to Gary who I was in mid convo (about the cuirass I noticed from a perception check) when my power went out. When I got back I accidentally talked to Lena and ended the encounter with Gary which I didn't notice bc it was a different day on a different session. Anyway, I had to replay an entire hour from a previous state just so I could take the cuirass from him and THANK GOD I did. The armor saved me when I failed the 54% reaction speed check. I had an 87% check on the hanged man talk, 47% check to shoot Korty on the hand/eye coordination check and a 60% check on the authority to save Kim. I passed everything and was practically crying when I was able to save Kim. The aftermath was very sad but a solemn reminder of how amazing the story telling is in this game. I lost four of the Union but killed all three of the mercenaries. P.S. Rene's death was also out of the blue and wow did that whiplash me.
