Presenting the original most awesome battle song ever. Couldn't think of a good picture series.
Please upload the whole album I lost mine...and well I prefer the whole bands version
I was looking all over for the copy I had of Keepers of the Flame, with no luck at all. UNTIL, I was playing my Xbox 360, and realised that I ripped the album onto the HDD! Been listening to it all day
I thought the addition of the bagpipes in the new version was a bad idea. It overpowers the vocals and rhythm. Thank you for giving is the better one!
Axes flash, broadsword swing, Shining armor's piercing ring Horses run with polished shield, Fight those bastards 'til they yield Midnight mare and blood red roan, Fight to keep this land your own Sound the horn and call the cry, How many of them can we make die! Follow orders as you're told, Make their yellow blood run cold Fight until you die or drop, A force like ours is hard to stop Close your mind to stress and pain, Fight till you're no longer sane Let not one damn cur pass by, How many of them can we make die! Guard your women and children well, Send these bastards back to hell We'll teach them the ways of war, They won't come here any more Use your shield and use your head, Fight 'til every one is dead Raise the flag up to the sky, How many of them can we make die! Dawn has broke, the time has come, Move your feet to a marching drum We'll win the war and pay the toll, We'll fight as one in heart and soul Midnight mare and blood red roan, Fight to keep this land your own Sound the horn and call the cry, How many of them can we make die! Axes flash, broadsword swing, Shining armor's piercing ring Horses run with polished shield, Fight those bastards 'til they yield Midnight mare and blood red roan, Fight to keep this land your own Sound the horn and call the cry, How many of them can we make die!
Wish I had this back in 2010 when I had a tough time with it! It's really useful, especially for the "blurred" part which was driving me mad back then ;)
I saw her and her band Phoenyx in an Irish bar in SF in 1987 and loved it. IT was a night to remember. I bought their 'cassette' that night. I still have it and love this song and all of the spirit I saw in her that night. Always wished I could have met her.
Heather was amazing. Met her once, ages and ages ago, but my fiancee was a recognized regular.
You still can. She's Alexander James Adams now, and regularly plays at conventions. He's a wonderful person, and a delight to talk with.
That would probably have been Ireland’s 32 on Geary St. or the little corner pub down on Geary and Sixth Avenue (gone now). Glad you were there with all of us. I was roadying for her and Kat at the time. Good times indeed.

No worries about pictures. This is the sort of song that plays directly to theater of the mind.
damn good apples
It was a shame they let things get between them as this band could have truly gone places. I miss the group as a whole, miss sitting at listening to them when not on stage, and if any of them read this they need to know "Edie's kids" both still think of them all often.
does anyone know where i could get the music to learn this on my mandolin ?
Smoky Chaffin You'd have to probably contact Alexander James Adams and ask real nice. He's got all that music, best as I know.
Loved this album
i zoned out then dude jumped.he was floating but i was in chill mode.thanks dude fer your distraction or however.i love hearing the pipes when im hunting so its all good....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
i really like this 1.makes me feel like im there.
And fans of Misty, as it figures quite frequently in the books about Eric Banyon.
Thanks for posting this. It’s really helping me learn the solo.
Love that riff at 0:17-0:20--it's a little trickier to play than it sounds but it's nice when you get it spot on.
Rich Rolwing it reminds me of daytripper
@@Dannyt077 It does indeed! (Wonder if it's in the same key...?)
Don't know if it was available when this was first posted, but under the settings icon you can slow down (or speed up) any video (and accompanying audio, of course)--I actually only became aware of this a short time ago. If you play this at 1.25 faster the solo is in fact heard at the normal speed:)
Thank you this helped
Good stuff! Gives new insight into this great solo (and the genius of Martin Barre!)--I've been learning it the past few months--and every note (including many you can't hear on the original) is crystal clear--Thanks!!
This actually helped me out. Thanks!
HAPPY LAMMAS EVE TO ALL!!!
No. Mercedes Lackey left the ending open deliberately. There is however a book of short stories based on this song. Several writers were given the poem/song and were told to write something based on it. The collection is called 'In Celebration of Lammas Night', edited by Josepha Sherman. You can find are several alternate endings for the story there.
Does anybody know what this lady does with the spirit?!
The song is deliberately left open, HOWEVER, there is a book that is a collection of short stories written by various authors, all based on this song and what might have happened. It's titled after the song, Lammas Night.
@@Kitchenwytchy I'm trying to find this book on Amazon. Whose name should I look for as an author?
@@53subscribersnovideos35 Mercedes Lackey
I treat my Phoenyx disc like it is made of gold. Thanks for posting this!
Jen Waagen that had to be fantastic
you should i looked it up a used copy is selling for 200$
ah, memories!! I was one of Heather and Kat's rodies back in those bygone days - I miss them terribly!
You're high.
Actually Misty used to have a FAQ on her website and to one of the questions/assumptions about her being a pagan she said she assuredly is not. She said she's just someone who writes stories.
Elboned This is correct. Did something happen to the Q and A page?
*sigh* I remember an awesome live concert, in a big red barn, so very many years ago... <3 Phoenyx ROCKED!
A certain red barn in northern calif mayhaps...?
In the original version at the end, the spirit says, "You will say come, not go." Made it even scarier!
If you are wondering where to find Heather Alexander these days, her heir, Alexander James Adams might have the answers. Google it, since it won't let anyone post links in comments.
Nowhere does it say that Ms. Lackey is Pagan. She may or may not be. She may simply do her research, as usual.
By far the better of the two versions!
THANK YOU! Been looking for this version for a while. The newer version is so-so, this is the one I first heard, then I lost the album. So thanks again!
