I love the simplicity! Nice video. Succinct. ❤👍
awesome vid thank you, how did you cut that hole in your bucket that you run the pipe thru?
@g3rbit0 a step drill bit. Harbor Frieght has some cheap one's.
well that gives a new meaning to Pee Trap.. lol. but yeah... ingenious Urine seperator design
WOW...very creative, simple, functional and economical. 👍👍👍👏👏👏😊😊😊
This is awesome. 500USD is ridiculous along with all the other prices. I left the country. Too expensive. I spend my pension in other countries. But if I have to return, this is the way.
I enjoy watching your travels. Watching from my retirement home in the Philippines. New subscriber as of Jan. 7th 2025
Now I know why it's called the Devil's Tower. That's gorgeous. I want to go see the place.
Thank you for presenting the most simple, genius diy composting toilet I have ever seen.
how is it holding up?
Girl! That’s amazing 👌
Why are there 2 holes drilled on the side of the bucket below the hose?
It looks like a good system, is it still working?
@southernrebel159 Yes, still works.
Best budget design I’ve seen
I don’t know what I admire more: the genius idea or the way you present it. ❤ from 🇨🇦
@0:39 Yea, lets create a design where instead of a recessed opening finger pull aparatus we cut a odor escape hole at the highest point. @01:11 Your design requires everybody get on their hands and knees to reach the "peat moss" I doubt it's peat moss, peat possibly. Poor design. Spare toilet paper: one roll needs to be accesible to someone using the toilet. No reason to be storing a very light, paper product this low and near fluids. @1:17 Computer fans work fine and can be purchased used nearly for free. Composting toilets require odors not escape when not in use. They all need self-sealing lids that are fastened. Agreed, >US$300 for a toilet is silly for people that are mildly capable in building one which to be honest takes the skills every 14 year old should have or is capable of learning.
Clever! Although putting the diverter on the seat and not on the bucket would allow you to switch out the bucket without the diverter.
Excellent Brilliant design!
Best DIY toilet I've seen
This is pure genius.
How do you clear out the solids?
Lovely footage. :)
So freaking beautiful!! 😍❤😍❤
thank you so much I was looking for tutorial like this one
Nice job
I imagined this design in my head but couldn't have imagined a more simple and effective way of making this one you made, very smart design. Congratulations!
I think this new jug will work much better than the previous one. I also like the wing nut improvement as well. Regarding the back half, I use the nice trash bags to line the bucket, then cover them with a double grocery bag. When the grocery bag gets used, tie it up and drop it into the big bag. Repeat as needed. Throw out small bags inside my trash bag (also small grocery bags) when I stop.
A lot of the composting toilets out there start at $1000 and go up, but there are a few in the $500 area as well (definitely ridiculous!). Your DIY is just as effective - thank you SO MUCH for this design! I love it!
Excellent design and money saving! Thank you for sharing. I love the fan addition too.
Great idea and I loved your comment about not worrying about spillingif you have an accident lol
A bucket in a bucket... The simplicity is genius! Thanks for saving me $$$$!
So how high is the crap and paper pile gets . Talk about the rubber gloves and breathing procedure
I think I need to practice the terd drop 😮
How do you empty the poop bag? You didn't show! So I'm guna say your pee diverter needs tweaking to hang over the other bucket
Excellent job girl!!
I have seen van lifers & car campers say it’s great to use horse bedding pellets (looks a bit like dry dog food) in your bucket bag..do your business on top & then sprinkle a bit more pine pellets on top. They say this completely eliminates the smell & ‘jellifies’ the poop. Usually do their wee directly into a screw top plastic tub & dispose of from there by taking into public restroom toilet & flushing. Poo bag is tied shut & put in trash. Some use composting bags but they sometimes start to break down as soon as liquid touches them…hence the horse bed pine pellets…that doesn’t happen. All bio safe tho
This is a great design! I’ve been using something similar, but designed for men only. No need to buy a composting toilet when you can make them so cheap and easily👍
Ok I am a guy, but is that difficult for women to pee in a jug, or use a device made for that purpose
Due to how things are formed on a women's body, once we start to pee it spreads out in a big wide spray. Look at female urinals. They all have big wide openings. Have to press them tight to the body to capture all the pee. If not tight to the body, it goes all down your legs and all over your clothes! It is a real struggle to find something that works every time with ease.
Notice a rough cut edge to the pee separator. Go over that with a cigarette lighter, should tidy it up.

👏 Nice! Well thought out.
Totally agree. A seperating toilet is over priced. Bucket is way to go, and you have done a fantastic job!!! 👍👍
Brilliant ❤
非常合理的设计,还可以准备些木屑什么的放在固体部分里。
Brava la signora🙌👍👍👍👍💋
Nicely done!! Thanks for sharing!!
You did a FANTASTIC job of making your own. You also clarified a solution for me on the half bucket funnel - simple, cheap, effective. Your ingenuity and creative skills are very high. I also love the fact you refused to pay the extortionary rates for plastic toilets. You can buy a porcelain home toilet for $100 but plastic toy toilets cost $500 - $1200 - outrageous! I feel conned by these toilet makers. The way you have it set up on plastic and the raised platform is all good. Bravo and thank you!
Is it easy to attach the plastic bags for the #2?
Fantastic set up . Thanks for sharing ❤
Been looking & looking for a good design, love it thanks for sharing!😊👍👍
genius. Ill be making one too very soon. I'm in my camper on land with no sewage so I've been using a luggable loo but I need a pee separator and now I know how. Thank you. Like you I"m not paying a bunch of money for one.
