Road to Wembley - 3rd Round
At the weekend, I made my third trip down to Devon to St James Park, the home of Exeter City.
City were aiming to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 1981!

I had Chelsea winning 2-0 it was the correct margin but not score.
@Footypredictions2521 same here!
Chelsea 3-1 Wolverhampton
@Luke86811 nice one! Your boys seem to have picked up now!
Chelsea 3 Wolverhampton wanders 1
@KieranAllen-qq7pb I think they'll end their winless run tonight
I think 2-1 Chelsea I need that shoutout because I’m trying to hit 100 subscribers
@Melvinsmoke-q2u I'll go subscribe to you now and let's see what happens tonight! 😁

2-0 for chelsea
@@mihailostanic8059 same as me, great shout 😁
Thankfully only one from Arsenal because in truth we've had some right balls ups in this competition and perhaps could have a couple more entries
@Marcus-fy4qy yeah there were a couple on my list but the Wrexham one has to be the biggest surely?
Everton 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur Man United 2-0 Brighton Nottingham Forest 3-0 Southampton Ipswich Town 2-1 Manchester City
@Footypredictions2521 any of those could come true - I don't think United will beat Brighton though!
@GamingBlomp I mean like at least we agree on the Forest Vs Southampton game. I see Man United beating Brighton but losing their next 7 or 8 games.
@Footypredictions2521 I think it shows how far Man United have fallen when I'm looking at your predictions and saying that them winning is the least likely 🤣 Do you think Spurs will sack Ange if they lose?
@@GamingBlomp No I reckon they won't. Daniel Levy needs to give him time. I reckon they win the Europa League or FA Cup this season or maybe even both.
@Footypredictions2521 I like Ange so I hope he's given time. I have a feeling they'll win a trophy this year too as long as they stick by him!
Leeds 0 Bristol city 1 frost match Leeds lost that season. In 1974 Liverpool 0 Bristol city 1 Roman getting the winner 13:03
@@AnneBrown-l4l brilliant suggestions. I reckon I could've put 30 into this list!
Not a great selection overall but OK, Maidstone, though a fine win, played ostensibly Ipswich reserves
@@glenmorgan4597 what would you include that I've missed?
Too many recent years upsets in this video Worcester v Liverpool Yovil v Sunderland Newport County v West Ham1979 or even one of the Newport upsets in 2010 v Leicester Leeds or Middlesbrough
@daviddewar5836 there were so many to list, I could probably have done a top 30 and people would still be suggesting games I'd missed! 🤣 Love it!
As a Leeds fan I'm glad you put in our win against them lot at their ground as well but you missed the shocks that happened to us, such as when Histon beat us, Sutton beat us, Crawley beat us and of course the famous 1973 final when Sunderland shocked the world.
@@GK-fp5kn I probably should have included the Sunderland one to be fair!
U am a Manchester united supporter
@@abigailswift4829 happy with last night's result?
I'm going. Ipswich Town 2-1 Brighton And Hove Albion Man United 1-3 Southampton
@Footypredictions2521 Southampton were so close to winning that one!
@GamingBlomp I know they were I was like before Diallo scored, OMG are they actually gonna do this?
@Footypredictions2521 that would've been an awful result for United. Saints aren't going to survive now are they
@GamingBlomp You know what if they do it'd be a miracle wouldn't it?
@Footypredictions2521 probably the best survival story on record if they do!
In 1969 Manchester City won the F.A. Cup. In 1971 Arsenal won the F.A. Cup. In 1972 Leeds won the F.A. Cup. And in 1973 Sunderland beat all 3 teams to win the F.A. Cup. The first team outside the top flight to win in 42 years. Against the biggest teams in England at the time. Leeds were huge. It pretty much killed them off and they were never the same again. No other side has beaten 3 of the previous 4 winners of the cup on the way to lifting the trophy, and they were second division, and you don't even mention them. They were 250/1 to lift the cup at the start of the campaign. I won't be subscribing. I'm sure you'll understand.
@@keithlupton451 where would you rank them? Totally understand - there's no pressure for anyone to subscribe! 😁
Great stuff again! I did the stadium tour a few years ago on a Christmas trip to Devon. Like you, it was just my partner and I on the tour, so we felt like VIPs. Fantastic that you got to sit next to a City legend too!
@@danielgray5158 that's amazing! Dave is so good at these tours, extremely knowledgeable, and Jimmy Giles - what a lovely man!
Gateshead 1-0 Liverpool
@@heedstats great shout!
As a City fan, would also love to see your tour video
@malcolmhuckvale3763 judging by the comments it looks like I need to start working on it! 😁
Great video - thank you
@@peterloader5353 I'm looking forward to returning to SJP for the Forest game! 😁
Brighton losing to Walton and Hersham worth a shout. Good video. 👍
@@alexlangley1639 thank you! Appreciate the support and great suggestion!
A few notable absentees worth a mention: 1933 Walsall 2 Arsenal 0, 1948 Arsenal 0 Bradford Park Avenue 1, 1949 Yeovil Town 2 Sunderland 1, 1957 Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic 3 Tottenham Hotspur 1, 1959 Worcester City 2 Liverpool 1, 1975 Burnley 0 Wimbledon 1, 1980 Halifax Town 1 Manchester City 0, 2003 Shrewsbury Town 2 Everton 1
@@ILoveMusicfromthesonwards how many of those would you put in the top 10? 😁
@@GamingBlomp Arsenal vs Bradford Park Avenue and especially Shrewsbury vs Everton as Shrewsbury were relegated to Non-League later that season.
@ILoveMusicfromthesonwards I remember the Shrewsbury one, I think I mightve watched that one live!
Thanks for putting in the Colchester Leeds game. I consider it one of the biggest shocks in FA Cup history, and it was huge news way back then as Leeds were the equivalent of Man City today. For some reason it rarely gets the mention it deserves. Well done for putting it in.
@DenisEgan-c2y definitely one of the biggest shocks of all time - that Leeds team were fantastic!
Have you never heard of Yeovil v Arsenal???
Have you never heard of Yeovil v Arsenal???
@@johndominicdrews1673 I actually haven't! When??
That Luton v Norwich was incredibly a repeat of the 1959 semi final. This time it was roles reversed, Norwich were a Premier League team and Luton were a non league team. Norwich wouldn't have scored in a year of Sundays, totally uninterested.
@jamestidd7707 I didn't see that one on any of my lists - I think I said to someone else on here I might have missed a lot of pre 1960 matches!
@GamingBlomp the biggest shocks of that cup run to the semi in 1958-59 for Norwich was their 3-0 win over Manchester United in round 3 and 1-0 win over Spurs in a replay in round 5.
@jamestidd7707 incredible achievements!
Another good video! You better be in that big bank for the next one as i suggested on the last vid! Think you're secretly falling in love with our club!
@Jenzy100 oh I've fallen already! It's so easy to get behind Exeter City, such a brilliant club. I think I might have to settle for wherever I can get a ticket against Forest!
Another cracking vid and delighted you did the tour. Yes please to another vid about what you learnt!
@BernadetteCoates-c4g thank you for the suggestion, it really was a great experience. Dave is so good at those tours! 😁
I’d also love to see a video about your tour of SJP before the game! I have enjoyed your videos and you have now become our lucky charm
@@AntonioBadcott brilliant, thank you for your feedback! Can you go one better against Forest??
Port Vale 2-1 Tottenham should be there. Just because I support Vale.
@DJPEPS9 that's fair enough, one of my mates supports Vale so I've been over to the park many times. I actually did a video from your game against Crewe a couple of months back!
Good video mate. As an oxford fan who travelled down I was dissapointed with all the changes we made and ultimately the result. But no complaints about the result, exeter deserved it.
@billymallett297 thank you! I thought Oxford were going to cruise to victory after the first goal but I honestly think Exeter can give anyone a game down at SJP! I need to get myself over to the Kassam before you move!
PS Anyone spot Norwich's young striker in their game against Luton Town???
Just spotted more of the comments!
@@tommitchell7262 a certain Harry...?
That Bradford one needs the local radio commentary. The one used lacked any emotion for such any achievement
@@SWFC1867TheOwls I haven't heard that to be fair! Mega shouty and excitable? 🤣
Thanks for coming back down to Exeter! I enjoyed the video and I’d also love to see a video about your tour of SJP before the game! 🟥⬜️
@OneGrecianGoal21 you've got me for at least one more round! Happy with Forest at home?
@ Yes, I’m looking forward to it- it should be a good game! It’ll sell out so I hope you can get tickets!
@OneGrecianGoal21 I've been in contact with the media team and it's looking promising. Otherwise I'll stand outside looking sad and tell people 'I've come a long way, please?' 🤣
Great watch mate. Big Bank for the Forest game? Or have you got a bit too used to the Heritage lounge? 😂
@ColeyBBQ the heritage lounge is SO comfy 🤣 haha, to be fair it'll be a case of wherever I can get tickets! Happy with the draw?
Yep, sick to death of that bloody Hereford game - our last match prior to beating Manchester United at Old Trafford (oh, the irony). I see you only have so much footage to call on as you have missed Yeovil Town in - I think - 1947.
@tommitchell7262 high possibility I've missed out on some of the really early ones to be fair. I might have to do a top 20 next time 🤣
@@GamingBlomp Just saying ... Yeovil Town v Sunderland was a football match played on 29 January 1949 at the Huish Athletic Ground, Yeovil. The match was a tie in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Yeovil Town won the match 2-1, with Alec Stock and Eric Bryant scoring the goals for the winning side. The match is notable for being one of the few occasions in the history of the FA Cup where a non-league club has defeated a team in the top tier of English football.
@@tommitchell7262 it's a great shout, incredible achievement from Yeovil Town - I need to have a look into that one!
We better win today against Leicester. Must win game
@Luke86811 tough one with Leicester being so inconsistent. You could beat them 4-0 but could also lose 🤷♂️ hope you get the 3 points!
Great predictions. Here are my seemingly bold predictions Everton 2-1 Aston Villa Leicester City 1-1 Crystal Palace Newcastle United 4-0 Wolves Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur
@Footypredictions2521 I think Everton is bold, the others I could see happening!
@GamingBlomp I think Everton will win because David Moyes will know Everton's tactics or he'll just use his tactics from his first Everton spell
@Footypredictions2521 good shout actually! 😁
Missed the greatest fa cup final shock of all... leeds utd 0 sunderland 1, 1973 fa cup final, the all conquering full team of internationals, fa cup defending holders and league champions v low 2nd division side with local players and uncapped, no team since the war outside the top flight, in fact since 1931, a 42 year gap
@mac1-nf6ic honestly it was so close to making the top 10, and in hindsight should probably have been in there ahead of Wigan-Man City! I might make a top 20 next year 🤣
@GamingBlomp 76 Southampton 2nd div v man utd and the famous Wimbledon beating Liverpool too, I find finals like these bigger shocks as the lower teams actually also have to get there first, in 73 sunderlands 2nd div team also knocked out the great top class ides of arsenal and man city en route too
@mac1-nf6ic a few people are suggesting that Sunderland v Leeds should be in there, think I made a mistake missing that one out!
Worcester City vs Liverpool in the 50s or Worcester City vs Coventry in 2012 I think! Not surprised we aren’t mentioned seeing as your a Hereford fan 😉
@@Lolmynameismaundyy haha, apologies 🤣 both brilliant cup shocks! I'm actually planning a trip to Worcester City before and after you move into Sixways. I'd love to see Worcester competing with us again, where you belong!
I imagine it wouldn't of make the cut, but Oxford beating Swansea a few years ago 🤔
@@JoeyG1122 might not make the top 10 but that's still a really good call!
Arsenal getting beat by Wrexham for me. Arsenals team was full of stars
@strobel6028 literally between that and Hereford-Newcastle for me - bias may have come into play a little but those are easily the top two!
