2023 BRZ at Thunderhill West - 1:29.1 on Primacy HP
Was really hoping to do a 28 on the Primacies but couldn't quite make it. I felt pretty rusty at West and made just a few too many mistakes in this lap. Still, a full 3 seconds faster on this setup than when I first got the car, so happy about that!

The first half of this lap was pretty weak, just driving too conservatively in T1, T3 and T5. But I made up some time in the last few corners, with good exits from T11 and T14. Second time at Laguna and first time in dry conditions. On the OEM Primacy tires which have comically low grip but are very enjoyable to drive. The car feels almost perfectly neutral and demands a more delicate touch than on stickier tires. Laguna is a very enjoyable track, even in a low HP car. New favorite track! Buttonwillow CCW is so exciting to drive. I was quite slow to learn the track and didn't post a very good time, but I believe I can go much faster next time with a few tweaks. Pretty sloppy driving all day, but still had a lot of fun and enjoyed close competition! The best lap was a 2:08.0 in the first session, but didn't get it on video. The first lap in this vid is a 2:08.4, which was a better lap anyway, but lost 0.8s passing the Miata in T5. Tried out several changes on the car including more front negative camber with Pedders top hats and a OEM-style duckbill spoiler. Also got new tires, which feel like super glue compared to my old cycled-out set. Balance was still terminal understeer, but managed a solid PB despite the hot weather. Really enjoyed the reverse direction of Thunderhill West. Compared to the normal direction, the esses section has a more interesting flow to it in a lower horsepower car. T2 is also fun because you can brake insanely late due to the camber and uphill. T7 becomes extremely tricky due to the curved braking zone and double downshift. Here's my best lap at a buttery-smooth repaved Sonoma. Grip felt like a mixed bag, with some corners clearly having more grip than before (carousel exit, T11), while others almost felt like they had less than before (T4, T7). 2023 BRZ 86 Challenge Stock Class Build 225 GT Radial SX2 on 17x8 wheels -2.0 front camber via SPC bolts Ferodo DS2500 pads all around Cold, wet and windy for the whole day and my first proper wet track day. Driving in the rain really highlights deficiencies in line and driving technique because the car is so much more willing to slide, but I honestly think it might be more fun than a dry day.....

First time doing 86DC and had a great time. Shaved 1.6 seconds off my previous PB, so very happy with that. Unfortunately the speed data is kind of lagged out despite using an external GPS. you're absolutely flying! what was your reasoning for 4th gear through t3/4/5?
Thanks Jason! I experimented a bit with gearing and found that I’m no quicker there in 3rd. Plus 4th is a bit better for oil P? Often times I find when a corner has multiple gear options, I usually overslow the entry if I downshift.

Great job pushing hard and banking in the lap with just a tiny window to do so. Your car control in damp conditions was amazing, I think I was way more afraid of the limit than you were. Congrats on the P2 and being so close to P1, if those BMW drivers could drive or stay out of your way you could have easily won it outright.

T9 entry looked too narrow, looked like you missed the apex and lost your exit
Yeah definitely. I tried tapping the brakes there to rotate the car but you can see at the end of the video that didn’t work too well either lol
@@bpt582 I actually compromised my corkscrew slightly to ensure I opened up t9. Probably lose 0.1-2 on the drag to t9 but then you probably gain like 0.3-0.5 back
