Ah while I'm at it, let me explain what we're doing with this playthrough.
First and foremost, I wanna record myself playing this game, cause I love this series so much. Recently, I've added my face cuz I got a webcam ! Again, part of the reactions I love so much is seeing how people react, their expressions n shit you know ?
Second, we're playing in japanese with tools that allow us to translate text : LunaTranslator is the main tool, it's the one you're seeing on the screen. It works in multiple ways but I select a part of the screen, it extracts the text and translates it.
There are two colors, each one representing the translation of one translator, we have : Google V1 and Gemini.
I'm also using Google translate with my phone so you won't see those, but I'll be reading them.
Lastly, since we're using machine translation (MTL), we're bound to :
- find wrongly translated sentences
- find things that don't make sense
- not understand some phrases
So, with my limited understanding of japanese, I'll try to provide backup to the translators (thats a really funny thing to say) and if that doesn't work either, we might have to skip some text !
I say that but recently I've been trying to make some more effort with ChatGPT this time, providing text that's extracted from screenshots and asking it to : translate the text, provide the romaji sequence (phonetic japanese) and some context if it's still not clear.
This has been successful so far but it takes a lot of time to do. So I'll only do it for cutscenes OR for random small untranslatable text.
I DON'T recommend this to anyone because it takes a lot of time to translate and actually understand the text, which is kinda why I'm doing this !
I'm trying to provide an enjoyable, easier to swallow experience of Kai no Kiseki until Falcom & NISA moves their asses and give us worldwide releases (so far they're getting better !).
