By common sense and natural limits we intuitively follow, rugby players limit how hard they hit so that they don't injure themselves, which translates to being less likely to injure the other guy as well. But US football, wearing full body armor, you're "safer" so you hit harder and harder, until someone gets injured _anyway._ Probably injured _worse_ because more force was being used!
