4 years later a teenager from Australia took the gold away from them he’s name was Ian Thorpe 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🎸🎸🎸🎸
What happened to greg gumbel's brother bryant gumbel?
I wonder they have a camera on top of the Canadian boat in here anyway?
Women's double trap shooting sport was discontinued unfairly. Where can you find those competitions recorded?
Karen Girl Olympics.
Imagine American Janet Evans dating Brazilian swimmer Gustavo Borges.
Great sportsmanship 👆she is clearly disappointed however she acknowledged that sport is about the best competing in finals not shoddy bueracy respect👊
powerful drugs do their job!
BALONEY!
Chyba w Atlancie grano jeszcze według starszych zasad.
One of the most well known doping cases from my childhood. Her face was puffed up and pink from using all those steroids. Disgusting.
If she doped?? How come she wasnt found out before she swam.Isnt all swimmers tested before and after there swims in the Olympics i thought??
these dopers are always one step ahead of doping controlers, her steroids couldn't be detectable, but then was caught doping in 1997 and was banned for 4 years, which ended her career.
Hasta la mitad del partido fue un partidazo de Argentina.
RIP dick enberg 🐐
It's amazing how three people won her medals...Her ...Paddy Power and John James on...Irish people will get it ...her urine sample 80% pure whiskey ...disgusting cheat ...now a barrister ...that says it all .
Apparently her sample was mostly straight whiskey 😂 if she didn’t tamper with it then that is even more scary.
Qazaqstan
The fact that she out doped the Chinese shows how committed she was.
Great performance by Michelle Smith. Dedication, training and huge sacrifices went into that performance. Great victory.
And the doping
@@SmcdMcd-d2k What doping?
@@Driver2616 she tampered with her sample. I
@@SmcdMcd-d2k What?! Was she stripped of her gold medals?
@@Driver2616 the fact you think she wasn’t doping … do you believe in Santa too? She was. Do as much research as you like
The pool in Atlanta was cool, being outside added to the atmosphere, it was a lot be than the Paris pool for sure, yeah Michelle used whisky to contaminate her urine sample when the testers came knocking on her door unexpectedly, the amount of whisky in her sample was enough to kill someone if it came out through her system at that level, her husband Eric got her to go down that road after a poor performance at Barcelona in 92
commentator trying his best to make Janet Evans cry live on tv bet he felt big & clever 😡
Michelle wasn’t the only one accused the Americans did not like not winning gold with their swimming ‘darlings’ at Atlanta in their own back yard, so they accused winners (not american) of dopping 😡
Unbelievable used a lot in commentary. This WAS unbelievable and not in a good way. I am Irish and am embarrassed by what happened in Atlanta.
Wow. Just wow. America was actually somewhat sane and normal. A long time ago…
She was innocent, proven by test after test. The whole thing reeked of politics with the US.
Did I miss someone or is the lighting of the torch not in the playlist?
Difficult to believe she wasn’t on peds. Impossible to believe some of the others weren’t either.
This girl should have qualified. She out the disgusting chesting or smuth in a really clear and respectful way.
She was wacked out on yokes the whole '96, not just for thr games. See none of the other girls went up and hugged her or congratulate her. They qll knew by that stage that she eas on yokes.
On yokes? Yokes are ecstasy tablets, haha.
Omg i tape this 1996 haven't seen it so long
Damn, that was good.
I’m sorry, Anders Holmertz.
Pieter Van Den Hoogenband was in this? This is his first Olympics.
This is such a good Olympics. I never thought that this would be a good Olympics.
What happened to Anders Holmertz?
fifth
metieron corte de luz, estaban cagados yanquis!
Looking forward to Paris! Only a week and a half away!
I"m not.
I would imagine all the male stewards have boners if they dont they are definitely 700 percent gay
1996❤
Michelle Smith was definitely innocent I believe she was wrongly accused
Will you stop repeating that three times? Don't you know, that could called spamming?
I have magic beans to sell you ...
Good one 😅
Oh please!
Michelle Smith was definitely innocent I believe she was wrongly accused
No, she's not: it was later revealed, she DID use doping, and she tried to put her blame on Janet Evans. The rat!
Ah jaysus come off it will ya
@@Mart-Bcome off it yeah. Guaranteed they were all doping at the time. This was nearly 30 years ago
And you back that up with what?
She was as dirty as her drug cheat husband
Michelle Smith was definitely innocent I believe she was wrongly accused
Rubbish. Wacked out on yokes the whole of 96.
Her husband, drug cheat, and shot putter, was her coach. Her times improved so quickly that even competitors refused to acknowledge her achievements.
Baloney: if she's innocent, why then she tried to blaimed Janet Evans?
@@сергейКурмыза-щ4йIf I remember correctly, it was Janet Evans who accused Smith, not the other way around.
She'd put so much alcohol in her urine sample that it was enough to kill a horse
whiskey MINGE smith
This is why you don't put all your eggs in one banquet. The competition was fierce between Franziska and Claudio. They both gave their best but I think the intense pressure that Franziska had because all the sponsorships and the famous lifestyle that she had did not let her see that there were other swimmers as good or better than her. Hard lesson to learn
Amanda Beard was a farce. Her elbows came out of water every stroke. What a joke.
Você tem este jogo inteiro?
This must have been they had the marathon swimming at the Olympics
I love swimming
Thanks for posting! It's nice to see this historic bit of coverage with the promos added in. I miss this era of olympic broadcasting. It was an exciting thing to sit and watch coverage in prime time back then... This competition was held in the afternoon but broadcast in prime time, And because social media And live scoring weren't really a thing back then., most of us watched without knowing the result... "Plausibly live" was what they called it. Nowadays because of technology and live scoring, I don't really think there is as much effort put into the editing of events broadcast on tape delay in prime time. Its over produced with too many commercials. If you want to watch with suspense Then you have to find a way to watch it live during the day in USA and it isnt the same. I wonder if we will ever see live coverage in primetime - maybe in LA in 2028.
Promo-SM ❤️
i really miss the 90s!!
