Really enjoyed your analysis. A fine description of Foreman’s winning tactics.
Thank you for the kind words, it's much appreciated
Also, that was not a straight left, that was a short left hook.
To me it looks more like it was intended to be a straight left, it seems to me the only reason there is an arc on the punch is because Machida moves into it before Jon gets full extension. Regardless, the focus is more on the feint that set up that counter in the first place
Jon Jones coach is who told him to do that setup. In a real fight where you don't get to study hours of film of your opponent, Lyoto takes out Jones easy. Lyoto's fight IQ is far superior to Jones.
Great video really enjoyed it
Thank you
great vid man
Thank you for the kind words, it's much appreciated
Damn! Great analysis on a classic!! 👊
Thank you, much appreciated
Eating while watching your videos is fire
Thank you for the continued support.
Great content! Glad I was able to stumble across this channel, very educational and easy to understand strike strategy especially for a beginner like me! Thank you!
Aiming his fingers toward the eyes - is of course always part of his strategy.
Wow an actual video with actual education. Very different from the other crap on yt. Good vid
Thank you for the kind words, they're much appreciated.
Counter the counter
The value of having large hands. See that crazy one handed stoppage of the overhand? Over and over, too
I still give Jones credit though. And Mike Winkejohn who is a 2 time kickboxing champion and karateka himself.
Nice breakdown. However, by the time he applied this tactic, machida was already a wounded animal from the ground and pound. Machida said in an interview, after those elbows on the ground from Jones, he was on wobbly street and was seeing 3 jons at once.
This is true, Jon did a lot of damage with his elbows on the ground, I was just focussing on this specific technique. But yeah that damage likely made Lyoto a lot easier to predict and time, as he had certainly slowed down after the ground strikes.
@@StrikingStudy and you did an awesome breakdown of this fight. Keep it going 👍🏿😀
@@katronbowdry2348 Thank you, much appreciated.
Great video! Keep it up!! Amazing format!
Thank you, much appreciated.
IIRC Shogun knocked Machida out with a very similar counter punch.
Jones has fought and beaten guys with heavy hands before. Easy work
He's never in his entire career fought anyone close to Tom aspinall , hell he didn't even fight Francis .
Shifting the weight of the torso to the lead leg is used for quicker left hand counters by sowthpaws, he was looking to box all the time, but Dustin ignored that and kept throwing that calf kick. Great breakdown man, i trully love your content, keep it coming, you got plenty of content to produce, as far as your IQ leads you to analize more boxing and MMA fights :) Also appreciate that you go straight to the point, with no music letting us focus better on the analisis.
And Conor did land well with the left hand at times in this fight. But there are pros and cons to every stance, and in this case McGregor left his lead leg vulnerable to those calf kicks. Thank you for the kind words I appreciate that, I'm not really interested in adding any extra fluff or music to these. That may make it less entertaining for some, but I'd rather just focus on the techniques.
Never considered of punching whilst my opponent tries to go for calf kicks or low kicks, will have that in count. Boxers also do blitz in a similar way, just look at how Paquiao blitzes sometimes in his punches or Lomachenko.
It is risky but if timed well it can work. You'll even see in some kickboxing/Muay Thai fights guys will not even try to check a low kick. They'll just brace to take it so they can stay in their stance and counter back with punches while their opponent's on one leg.
So he countered with eye pokes
Damn! 😮 great breakdown! I subbed
Thank you
Great video 👏👏
Thank you
Wow very enlightening.
Good stuff bro
Thank you
nice❤
I really enjoy your videos and is there a chance that you could do breakdown of Ľudovit Klein headkicks ko's (4 headkicks ko's) or some Ivan Buchinger fights ( 24 sumbission wins 0 submission losses)
Thank you. I already have some video ideas I want to do but will look into doing one on L'udovit Klein after that. Been very busy these past few months so haven't had the time to create and upload as consistently as I would like to.
Dustin kicked his legs a lot and when Conor coulnd't move anymore he used him as a heavy bag
Yeah pretty much. The more his leg got damaged the more aggressive Conor started getting too, as he knew his leg wouldn't last. This left him more open.
Donaire mis respeto peleaste como una fiera y a la vez humildad ante la derrota con lo mejor en la actualidad inoe lo mejor
Respeto ante todo como ustedes indican así será bendiciones
This fight was awesome. I think Costa looked better than ever.
Agreed, great fight. Whittaker was class as always. And I agree that even in a loss Costa looked better than ever, he looked faster than ever, showed patience, and his kicking game was the best it's been. If he can mix in feints and longer combinations in future fights, I think he'll be a problem for anyone at middleweight.
💪💪💪
Do a vid on gsps jab vs koscheck!
Good idea, haven't watched that fight for a long time.
Nice. That's why striking is superior, real warrior sh....
Wow.. they both learned so much from each other
Alex made Strickland overconfident by throwing slow, low power body jabs. Strickland chased his hands, Alex changed speed, levels and power. He's a master at getting an opponent overconfident, chasing his hands, then suddenly changing speeds, levels and power.
Agreed, he definitely lulled Strickland into a false security. And along with that speed you mentioned is the tightness of his punches too. He didn't wind up and telegraph the hook, it was very short, it's scary how much power he can generate with those short punches.
@@StrikingStudy Exactly what he did against jamahall hill. Low kick , Body jab and change his level for a left hook very quick
@@matthieudelarte3914 Indeed, he literally didn't throw any other punch other than that body jab before the finish. Didn't even use the right hand which is often said to be the best weapon against a southpaw. Was another great performance by him
Awesome, please post more fight breakdowns for both striking and grappling exchanges.
Thank you. My breakdowns focus on striking because I feel I have a better understanding of that. But I will talk about any grappling if I feel I have some insight to offer
Crazy reaction time from BJ
His timing was on point here
Pretty sure it's been proven he had the fastest reaction time in the ufc at the time.
BJ lowkey robbed in this fight
Could definitely see a case for him winning. The first round was the most decisive of all three, especially from a damage perspective, it was a clear round for BJ.
I don’t think so. The rematch definitely solidified that if it went longer GSP would have broke him down
@@XxanyvidsxX that’s a different GSP than the one in this fight.
nah, he won 1 round clearly. but the ufc is round by round
Good analysis, imo just try getting a better mic next time
Thank you. Yeah I agree with the sound, I'm new to editing, recording, and making content. Planning to get a better mic setup soon.
@StrikingStrategy All good brother, it just sounded echoey. I hope I didn't sound rude
You're all good, didn't sound rude at all. I appreciate the feedback, want to improve everything as much as I can.
Solid vid bro 👊
Thank you.

Good breakdown. Subscribed.

👍👍👍
Everytime i see this clip of Conor beating Ivan Buchinger is like slovakia getting recognize in some way because Slovakia really less recognizable country and i m happy just to see Slovakian somewhere getting recognize in the world and best thing is that we have 2 Slovakians in ufc and its a small number but for us its really a big progress in Slovakian mma and you are getting a subscribe and like. I really like this format videos and you are good at making breakdowns
Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate the support. I hope Slovakian MMA continues to grow!

yay
Nice job👍
Thank you
You can’t learn anything from Khabib’s striking.
Could you learn more from Ben Askren?
Interesting. Still he managed to knockdown (DOWN not OUT) the Notorious McGregor., Who is known for his amazing striking. Haters gonna hate
