i was very poor for awhile, just enough to get by and not a dime more. When people would talk about having a monthly clothes budget, or how they'd buy a new pair of shoes every year, or sometimes every season, i was always shocked. The idea of replacing something that wasn't broken, or the idea of just not trying to fix it if it was broken was utterly foreign to me at the time.
