Grind King Disrupter Skateboard Truck Review
Crushing those no comply shuvs mate, glad that tip worked for you. That slam at the start was no joke, glad you’re ok.
@@KieranClarkSkates thanks man glad you caught the shout out! Yeah I was lucky. It wasn't as bad as it looked to be fair, I did more damage to my hand than my head but all good now! Revisited that spot this morning!
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding Sweet, looking forward to seeing the results.
Tip for hips, do your trick higher up the ramp, close to the top
@@Krisso thanks I'll try, in my head that's higher and scarier! 😆
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding it'll feel better, the same for tricks on a bank. You won't land at the bottom where it transitions, and if you fall it's better to fall at the top where you can slide down.
@@Krissomakes sense to be fair... Cheers!
That bent rail, perfect for grinding!
@@leestammers3832 yeah man the one that's almost touching the floor would be a good start! There's definitely more fun and experimenting to be done at that spot. Board slides, hippie jumps, different tricks over the lowest one... Full pads and helmet next time though 😆🤕
You weren’t kidding, that slam looked hard! Great yellow post Ollie make afterwards and those no complys looked solid and high too. Nice one Scott 👊🏻
@@simonvidetta1976 cheers Simon! Could have been worse. Hope to see you on the board again very soon!
@@DadLeisureSkateboardingdefinitely could have been I guess and thanks mate 🤘🏻
Those flat bars look a lot of fun, glad that slam weren’t a lot worse
@@CovTown yeah I've been eyeing those bars up for a while... Just wish I padded up. Shouldn't have rushed/forced a session but lesson learnt 🤕
I hope my progression is similar to yours after a year! Great job!!
@midlifesk8r Thanks man! There's no reason why it wouldn't be. If you have time check out my oldest videos, they look just like yours. Stick with it! looking forward to seeing your journey
Bigger boards might be more stable but they're also more heavy too. With a bigger board I'd probably look for hollow trucks to even it out haha. Good vid man!🛹🛹
Yeah I know what you mean, I was worried about the weight but it's nowhere near as bad as I thought and the pop is great. Not much height difference compared to my street board and just feel more stable, confident and able to commit with the bigger surface! Thanks for checking out the vid Bill!
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding For sure. Biggest board i have is a 8.38 with 149 indys. Definitely more stable and heavy then a 8.125 with 139 indy hollows lol Bigger boards are fun to mess around on for sure!👊
That slam was pretty serious. That would have spooked me too. Glad it wasn’t too bad. 👊
Yeah I was mostly annoyed that I didn't wear pads/helmet and I was going to pay the price... but luckily not too bad in the end. A reminder not to be so complacent. I was on a different set-up to usual and think I got wheelbite as my board just stopped dead on landing! Could have just been the crust ground or pebble though! Thanks for watching, hope you are good dude!
Great ollies man and be careful with these slams, but when you eat sh*t you progress faster. Looks like you have a whole skatepark to yourself, lucky man haha. Well done. Oueahh what do you think of clouds?
Yeah there is a fine balance between taking it easy, and pushing yourself too much and getting hurt! But you can get hurt taking it easy also so may as well go for it. I was annoyed because I didn't wear my pads, but I dont usually slam like that from an ollie. I think it was wheelbite that threw me off. Clouds are good so far! Handle crust way better than dragons and I haven't notice too much speed loss compared to Dragons yet (and I have way better bearings with the dragon set up too) I think I will do a review/round up on them after a month of skating
Great video man, took that slam like a champ. It's always shaky after something like that, but getting back up and doing it again is the way forward 💪
Thanks yeah I always try the trick again rather than leave it on a low point!
Nice ollies! 😂 you didn’t drop BG then
Thanks man! BG never fails
That was a slam and a half. The rail spot looked pretty sweet though. Get learning body varial and then you could get a line going on, hippy jump one of the bigger rails then ollie the mangled one.
Yeah I think on another day where I can dedicate more time I will start playing about a bit more (and wear full pads!!). It is a cool spot and that was my thinking with hippie jumps then ollies! Such a rough tarmac to land on though and I did rip my hand up too. I got the ollie first try to be fair but something got in my head and I stopped committing!
that fall looked nasty glad it wasn't too bad. good video, and great skating.
@@PhilipBrown1967 thanks Phil!
Been here since 44 subs!!!!!🎉 keep up the nice work
@@Gmo1999 thanks for sticking around mate, really appreciate the support!
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding no problem brother!!
Jeez. The bare grills thing works 🤦🏻♂️
@@Ungracefulmovement you gotta try it 😆
Glad you are okay that slam was nasty! Your Ollie's are real good more practice for me so I can get there.
Thanks Wes! You are getting there!
Rough slam glad your alright sick spot tho!! Your ollies are getting really really good man!!
Yeah it's a decent spot, not sure I'll do it again though 😂
Mate that was a meaty slam, I wouldn't have thought any less of you for calling it a day after that, but you pushed through and got it clean 👌 Bear grylls! 🤣👊
Haha thanks mate yeah I had to get another one couldn't leave it there! Bear Grylls! 🐻
BG power up
@@thestrengthdynamic Bear Grylls!
“I’ve come to this street spot today,” Next frame… a boat 😂
@@thestrengthdynamic classic 😂
Took that like a champ 💪
Haha thanks, it wasn't too bad I was just annoyed I didn't wear my helmet and wrist guards because I usually do (unless it's just basic flat ground)
Nice work Dad but if you value your ability to skate, work and support your family, you might consider being a grown-up yourself and pad-up! lol
Haha yep I know, I do wear full pads mostly... problem is when I squeeze in these quick street sessions I forget, or just rush. But lesson learnt 🤕
Great progress for a year man! I reckon you can deffo make the distinction between an Ollie and an Ollie up a curb, purely based on the fear factor. Big up 🤜
Thanks, yeah I think you are right... there is a big separation between an ollie and then the mental battle of doing it up onto something! Cheers for watching and for the comment 😀
Nice work mate, you should spend a little more time rolling round and carving and stuff in my opinion :) But you're doing very well especially for how limited your time to skate is!
@@OwensSkateLife thanks man! Been loving your vids recently! Yeah I know what you mean, I don't think this video does my confidence on the board any justice 😂 I am generally ok at bombing it around the park but I have noticed I can't Ollie banks and hips at speed as I do that, which is something I've been working on (new vid tomorrow). Also frontside Kickturns need attention!
Nice bag of tricks mate, what size is that deck?
Thanks mate! That one is the 9.25 heroin golden egg board.
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding nice 9.25 woohoo, wow never had heroin deck or egg either. Are you happy with it?
@@skate-vision yes I love it for stability and ease of control. My 8.25 street set up is lighter but more unpredictable 😆
Yo, nice fake Ollie ! Gotta try the running body varial thing. Pushing fakie is so far away for me
@@beatsev1 thanks man! yeah it's a good option if you aren't comfortable with actual body varials, you also get more speed as you do a little boost push when you get back on the board
Hi mate, great vid and amazing progress. What about a fakie bigspin? 👊🏻
@@simonvidetta1976 thanks Simon yeah that's a good option! I am thinking now just get pop Shuv rolling then really clean up and get these tricks higher, more confident and speed before learning too many new ones!
Nice! Don't forget to bosch bosch bosch!
@alexearl230 Solid advice!
Yeah I want to learn the Boneless I love that trick!!
Thanks man yeah I like it but it still feels awkward. Plan now is to clean all of these tricks up, get confident and do them with speed, height and style before learning too much else!
I think you should call the shuv-it mount a shuv-it start off. It would look sick at the top of a bank where when you land it you roll into the bank. That could be the next thing you try if you find a mellow bank. Other than the shuv-it start off I think you should learn body varials. This will help you get into fakie for your fakie Ollies and then open the door to half cabs and fakie shuvs.
@@amskateboards thanks man! I actually do those shuvit start offs on the banks at the park, I love doing them and think they look cool to start off a run! Body varials is a good shout, I never really do them because its boring but need to work on those and hippie jumps
Good going dude! Keep rollin 💪🏻 Where is that indoor park?
@@CrispyDC thanks man, it's in Warrington UK. So lucky to have it as a local!
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding Yeh I'm in Suffolk and we have nothing indoors, unless we trek 3 hours to adrenaline alley again 😭
Ahh I know a couple of people around there, it sucks that there is no indoor options. We are a bit spoiled around our way and it's great as a rainy day option and to learn new transition tricks but I prefer a good outdoor park when the weather allows!
cool vid
Thanks Phil!
Yo I had to pause it at 2 mins to say Boneless tricks are timeless and will always be gangster! I’m not a master but I got you man… Ill break it down in a future vid so you’ll smash em out easy (easier) 😂
Yeah I'm happy with boneless, they are fun to do and need to start doing them up and down things and eventually into 5050s 😂 a caveman breakdown would be pretty sweet to be fair 👊
@@Sk8Comeback i love bonelesses gotta learn them look so steezy
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding yeah I keep meaning to do one of them! My flexibility and hamstrings suck so boneless is hard for me but there’s a few important tricks to it! Trust me… you wanna try and tweak your leg so it goes at like 90 degree angle…. In turn you legs snaps it bag and it just works! Back foot slightly hanging toes over really helps me land back too! Try it 👊 it’s bloody hard mate… you need a lot burst in the jump! Sick trick! The way you’re doing it atm is more like a Footplant Ollie early grab thing!
@Sk8Comeback AHH I get what you mean!
Absolutely smashed it Scot, great progress for one year. Reckon you should go for front half cab next, it’s a Fakie frontside 180. Feels a little awkward at first but I reckon you got it.
@@KieranClarkSkates Thanks mate! Fakie half cab is on my Radar, Matt (AM Skateboards) does them all the time. I think I need to get rolling Shuv first though before I lose it completely 😁
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding That’s a good shout, I personally think moving makes tricks easier as you don’t have to land perfectly on the board to roll away. The momentum gives you a bit more play.
Yeah dude!! Way better of a flatgrond skater than I will ever be!!
@@fatdadskatesbad Thanks man, don't know about that but I am definitely getting more confident and really enjoying it 😁
🙌🏻🙌🏻 for the shout
@@Ungracefulmovement no probs I feel like I do it every week but you keep giving me reason to 😎
🙌🏻🙌🏻 for the shout
A lot of them looked pretty comfortable. Has the wide board helped?
@@Ungracefulmovement Thanks, I'm surprised how quickly I got them but to be honest I could have done most of them cleaner/faster/higher... but I didn't have a warm up just turned the camera on and started with that Ollie 😆 Wide board has been great for confidence after injury and stability/control but I rode my 8.25 yesterday and felt like I could have ollied ove a car 😂 just not as much control with the narrower light board I find
Brilliant progress mate flat ground I suggested rolling shuve it or fakie shove it .on transition I reckon you shod go for the fakie rock and roll/disaster
Thanks mate yeah rolling shuv is probably the next one! And half cab rock to fakie I have done before I got injured but need to get it back!!
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding I'm trying to get more confident with rick to fackie currently
Wym you don't carry on skating after you're dead? Isn't that the dream we're all chasing? 💀😂 That's a decent list for only a year mate, and I'm sure you'll smash that next year 👊
haha! Thanks man yeah it will be interesting to see what tricks are in next years! I feel like I could have done most of them better but was short on time and under-rehearsed!
What trick should I learn next?
Whatever trick you’re feeling Scott, great video and great advice about not letting anyone tell you how to enjoy your skateboard 🫶
@@CovTown Thanks mate! To be honest I think I will aim to get the rolling shuv and then work on cleaning up these tricks, getting them with speed, height, confidence and style... rather than pushing for more badly executed ones 😆 really enjoying the flatground skating at the moment though!
@@DadLeisureSkateboardingi am trying to do fakie shuv as its easier in terms of landing as you kick it to the direction of where you are moving, but not landed one yet, one day. Keep it up man you got it!!!
@@skate-vision yeah that sounds like a solid option, I keep meaning to try it! Thanks!
If you ever feel like in the future the trucks don't turn well, try out different bushings. They can be a much cheaper resolution to the issue compared to a new set of trucks. That being said, out of the box, I'll take Indys over Thunders any day! Thunder trucks are on my (these days not really used anymore) filmer setup. It's not that I don't like their turning, I feel like they initiate the turn differently. Indys turn instantly, whereas Thunders feel like they need to line up after the impulse. Also, big boards are lovely. Fell in love wit them back when shape decks became more of a thing like 10 years ago, and got myself a screen printed Welcome deck. I am currently back on a "conventional" popsicle, but never rule out some "out there" shapes when buying a new deck. On the bearings, yeah Spitfire Classics are a great alternative to Bones Reds, I don't think they make much of a difference if taken care of, but it's just a matter of belief. lol.
@@FirstPersonSkater thanks for the comment! Never thought to swap bushings out on thunders... Because a lot of people put thunder bushings in other trucks 😂 but great idea I will experiment. I still ride them on my popsicle as a back up and have new wheels coming for that set up soon. And I agree, preference and belief in your set up are aligned 💯
Looks like a nice little park. Next time you need to take your board. I always take my board everywhere I go. If your wife has an issue with it just tell her its your holiday as well and you want some skate time. I always try and find parks near play areas so the kids can play while I play. Another thing I try and do is go out early to skate on my own and leave the family asleep. That way you get the skatepark to yourself as well.
@@amskateboards 😂 yeah I think I still feel a bit embarrassed about skating at my age to be that blunt. But I plan to take it next year!
