Installing Honda 650 RFVC cam chain tensioner with a zip tie
In this video I'm gonna show you a simple method to install a cam chain tensioner in a Honda 650 RFVC engine. According to service manual you need a special tool for this job. This is a
SLR 650 '97, but this trick should also work in NX, XR, XL FX, FMX, GB 500/600/500 bike models. I've tested a tensioner installed like this for over 15k km and it was working perfectly.

I’m undergoing the same stuff with my 91 xr600r. My valve adjustment screw came out of the rocker arm lodging itself between the head and cam, snapping the cam. I was able to reuse the head an valve train. Just needed a new cam gaskets and that adjustment screw for the rocker arm. Wish me luck

Thanks, I attempted this and your video helped confim it actually works. I used a hacksaw blade to weaken the zip tie. How did you remove the zip tie?

I removed the zip tie by cutting it with a sharp knife, just like on this video
