Glad that you got me in there at the end! I'm so happy that you guys could make it out, it's always wonderful to train with you!
What’s a “nindan”?
Looks like another fun trip!
Why is he leading in with his knife hand? You didn't - but you want him to attack in a way that makes your technique work. My knife hand will be behind - I'll grab, punch, whatever - and whatever u bring out to defend, will get slashed or stabbed. Unrealistic.
discoveryportland.com/free-trial-enrollment Fun fact: you can work on both types of attacks. Come on by, we can work on both. If you have something better we'd love to see it.
Tajitsu
Bare feet, tennis shoes, outdoor tabi……..tells me a lot about etiquette and discipline in this school.
You're funny.......in a video about technique, you talk about clothing to try to disparage the technique.
@@DiscoveryMartialArtsPortland I look at the totality of the video. Your techniques are good and valid. No disparity there. Just the sloppiness of the students.
Ganbatte Kudasai!
awesome footage. It's interesting to see the different twists on the same techniques. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing! Rob's training and teaching approach are so unique and good to see!
Wonderful footage of a rare training opportunity. Thank you for sharing this.
Smooth!
Nice work Myles! Very well deserved.
Domo Arigato :)
So nice to see you this video did a good representation of who you are
I like it! Very legit movement
Love the symbiosis of life and training. Good stuff.
Great Video Big Guys! Paul is a very fun teacher to train with, so glad that you had the chance to experience his perspective!
We will be playing with this tonight! Bring the pain!
Looks like you guys had a great trip (aside from flight delays). Hopefully the training experience was worth it!
Nice! Really enjoy the music on this one!
😂😂😂 you'are serius ? LOL you 're juste an clowns🤡🤡🤡😅😅😅 band ! You 're to much funny crazy😂 😂😂
Love Renyo. Bummed I missed this class!
We were bummed you weren’t there!!!
What style? Just curious. I recognize some kenpo and possibly shootfighting.
Ninjutsu. We look at classical with adaptations for modern day issues.
Totally bummed I missed this!
It would have been awesome to have you there man!!!
Thank you Mark and Zach! Very fortunate to be able to learn from the two of you.
Loved it, captured a lot of good elements ! Can't wait until the Kyu's are BB's and can come show off all the fun stuff we learn at Discovery and help represent 😊
It won’t be long!!!!
awesome. Thanks for capturing and sharing some of the training clips. Zach's nice smooth throw at around 9:15 was fun to watch.
You’ll be coming down with us to those soon!!!
Epic! thank you for sharing, fantastic video!
Miss you Man!! Hit us up and let us know where you are these days!!
Sorry dude. I have a background in boxing, kickboxing en bjj. And these techniques will only work on a participating or extremely intoxicated person. I really hope you don’t have a background in judo or bjj, cause then you should know better than this.
Hey man, thanks for the comment. Note the “attack” and the situation we are looking at. Would a boxer even put themselves in that situation…obviously not. Neither would a BJJ or Judo person…..it would require a different response. We never promote “this will work every time against every opponent” techniques…that’s ridiculous. We look at situations and options from that situation.
I missed this class so nice to see the notes on it. Congrats Arden!
Lana wants to learn musan!
Excellent explanation!
Thanks for the info. Is the conference in Portland or Portsmouth?
Hi Noel! The conference is in Portsmouth. It is at the Elks Lodge, specifically. Since they are relatively close (about a 1 hour drive) staying in Portland OR Portsmouth is reasonable. Our school is in Portland, so we can help anyone staying in that area get to Portsmouth for the event if need be 👍
@@DiscoveryMartialArtsPortland thanks so much. I'm coming from New York area, and my son actually lives in Dover. Can't wait!!
Looking very well, Mr Poliquin :)
Mr.Merritt gives me a ton of hope for the future of ninjutsu. I’m so thankful that he has gotten to a level where other high ranks will at least listen to his assertions regarding pressure testing and the realities of living in a world where MMA has changed people’s perception of martial arts, making them demand more realistic training.
Thanks for this inspirational interview. I will strive to be a positive contributor among the people around me as the best way to introduce our martial art.
Really appreciate you sharing these amazing conversations! Hanshi Poliquin articulated so many important points in this interview. I know that one of the main purposes of these interviews is to promote the conference, but I really hope these conversations continue. I share many of the concerns about the future of this art moving forward that were expressed here and felt by many others. Conversations like these help preserve the truth of the art and bend the arc of the future for the art in a more and more positive direction. Thank you 🙏!
At dinner in 2016...i had suggested that Stephen K. Hayes, had "let you go on your own path", in a similar way that Hatsumi, had to Stephen...it appears, John, that you are continually growing and expanding the ways to experience and express this art...i still remember being a new student...those were the same eyes i arrived(by surprise)with in 2016...it was a great experience 💯👺🙏🏼
Great interview! Lots of inspiring ideas! Thanks for sharing this! 🙏
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Really looking forward to seeing what Shidoshi Davis brings us to work on.
Thanks for sharing this! 🙏Excellent details! 👍👍
My pleasure!
Greta video! This is why I will be coming!!
Glad you're coming! Make sure to come grab Mr. White or myself while you're there... Let's train! -Z
