Got to 1000 followers on Tiktok so I could go live. This was my first time going live on there. Some of the verbage is pretty one sided as I was replying to comments in the livestream. Making a Scottsbluff.

Thanks . I'm in the ouachitas . Just learning . Going to try heating some novaculite from the Hot Springs area .native mines all over down here . I found an arrowhead on my land and some cutting tools , So I've just really been curiouse . As a carpenter , I think I can make me some keepsakes .
I have a house in Mt. Ida and I'm in the area pretty regularly. Novaculite is tricky to heat treat. You can buy it heat treated from Dan's Whetstones in Malvern great quality.
In South Jawja they used sandm
Thanks for the info, I learned a lot.
Thanks man
Wonder if this would work for mookaite to make it easier to flake?
Awesome video! I knew I didn’t need to have expensive equipment to do this. Thanks for the information 😁
Feel free to hit me up if you have questions.
Nice work ! ! ! I went from knapping glass to some attempts with obsidian. Next is a rock from central Texas. Flint . It may need to be
Heat treated
Thanks I have a video on here on heat treating.
Does heat treating help prvent step fractures or is that more a bad hit on stone
It would help the rock to flake better if it was heat treated. Could be platform preparation or selection. Could be angle and force of strike as well.
I worked in the Oaxaca Valley at the Monastery Cuilapan Laboratory and the Archaeologist said we find this Quartz but we can't find the source and I said that is because it has been heat treated and he said, They heat treated Quartz? and I said sure they heat treated Quartz. It is what we called cold cream jar Quartz which is what he had.
how are u?
Doing well yourself?
Has anyone ever heat treat stone in a outside wood burner i would like to try
I've heard of ppl trying different methods.
Most of that stuff was white or cream color and was razer sharp after you hit it.
I beat on that Arkansas stuff when I was a kid, didn't know squat about tools ,pleasure flakers and what not, or good from bad, I just pick up two rocks and went at it,I suspect the material around there would have benefited from heat treatment. I'm two hours from Flint ridge Ohio, I now make nice points out of anything good I can get my hands on
My uncle Leo Rooker had a big ranch on the Sharp Randolph County line, outside of Smithfield and Imbooden (Wellin Springs, that place was loaded with Flint, the road grader would bust it up and it would cut the snot out of your tires
I've seen lots of experienced knappers miss the fact that a square corner is nothing but another ridge. Saves a ton of zigzag work and gets edges setup faster when you can successfully nock those across like that. Well done.
Thanks man!
Man you've been at it for 25 years or more since knapping that old TV glass back in the day. Nice video bro!
Not quite that long but it's been a few years
Great video
Thanks man!
Just had a chance to watch your video. Well done!
Thank you
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Glad you liked it.
You have good radio voice! What you oughta do is set up the camera with a lap shot.
Thank you. This was my first vid with this camera, had it on widescreen as well. Gonna work on fine tuning the setup. Any advice is appreciated.
Awesome video man! May message ya online and see if you think this ole rock formations is a fire pit natives used to use. I find points close to it and it just seems odd rock formation for the area. I’ll message ya on Facebook! Keep up the vids man!
Hey seth can ya give someone some advice on river locations to find stones to heat treat
It varies a lot depending on where you are in the country. I'd recommend checking out some geological maps of your area.
