1977 World Frisbee Championships - Pasadena, CA

dubbed from original VHS recording. My team (Penn State) won the Easterns Ultimate Championships and got to play in front of 50,000 people in the Rose Bowl. We got smoked by a team from Santa Barbara. I am the southpaw at 11:22 and 13:19! A wild time though for a bunch of 20 year olds.

hi Douglas. this was actual digitized from film we got from CBS Sports Spectacular. I think its been gone from the air for 35 years +
I saw this film in the tv as a teenager, I was amazed. Ten years later, in 1987 I organized and trained the first "Hungarian Junior Frisbee Championship" for a bunch of kids, with presence of the "press" (a sports magazine sent a reporter) in Aszód, with precious help of some of my kind friends. Next year we did it again, with about fifty junior competitors from two towns, with five events, I am still grateful to my friends, to the children and our sponsor, the industrial instrument factory (IMI) of Iklad, on their football ground. Those were wonderful times. And this film initiated them.

Summer of 77 was our launch into the Frisbee world at age 14. We resided in Central Washington state, learned to become Frisbee athletes and toured professionals in 84.. Amazing life and what we saw where we went and whom we played with, it's 2021 now and I have not stopped throwing, spinning, catching, tossing. Frisbee is a good life. Blue Skeleton

@@sepponieminen1000 That’s very cool. That’s one of those things that we sometimes consider skipping for various reasons but once we’re in the middle of it we’re so happy that we made the effort. The truly special ones are those that we feel the same way about decades later. I’m sure this is one of them. Frisbee was a huge part of my life for close to a decade beginning not long before this event. I never went anywhere without my 175G Frisbee
I wish we still made the disc golf pros do a little freestyle session for us. Hole 9 everyone has to do 5 freestyle tricks.

I was in attendance, at the Rose Bowl, for the 1977, 78 and 79 World Frisbee Championships. And, nearby at Oak Grove Park, I was there weekly playing Frisbee Golf; wonderful times.

I grew up in Pasadena California . Played Frisbee at Oak Grove park. Boy that last throw is a challenge from way up there. Had a friend named Alex (. Can’t remember his last name )and his whippet- they were somewhat famous then. I’m 67 now and can still throw a frisbee...Great time back then. Live in Oregon now. Those were the days!
