If a guy walking into a grocery store claiming to be Jesus would you follow him. Or would you have lots of questions.. you might ask for proof and if he walked you outside and said I created all this…. Are you going to follow him most would ask for a little more maybe a miracle. So I think this is a very common thing for people to encounter when they consider Jesus. It is like not being able to determine that the story of Jesus was true (compared to all other religions claiming their version of God is true) reappears over and over in someone trying to consider Jesus. They set up "okay, hypothetically, if the story of Jesus WAS true", it seems that this person is STILL thinking, "how can I even consider that this is true, unless I can see accurately the true story of Jesus compared to what I know to the best understanding I have of God". And that is something that you would use to assess other religions as well. I think what he did was a knee jerk reaction because he still just couldn't pass over the claim that this man poses.
