Silicone spreaders/finishers with builders wet wipes are a neater/cleaner finish. You want a chamfered/squared finish to avoid peeling starting on those thin sealant edges. Enjoyed the video but is the fan facing the correct way? I thought the raised arse of the fan went to the back of the van? Just wondering.. Keep e'm coming.

Hi There. Thank you do much for making this video. It is a Godsend for me. I think I have the microswitch problem you refer to having on your orange van. It seems to have the microswitch that is on the latch like your orange van. My sliding door always registers as open... May I please ask where you got a replacement microswitch for your orange van? Hi Mark, this experiment is interesting and well done, but overridingly too limited in its purpose. Those sealants are not at all like for like, as those pure silicone ones are of no comparison whatsoever to the Sikaflex and meant for entirely different uses. The comparison experiment that you should instead do is Sikaflex compared to a known same type, the point being that Sikaflex is very expensive at 14pounds a tube, but an equivalent rival is only 7 a tube, ie Wickes Premium Hybrid Sealant Adhesive, 7pounds a tube, in white, black, grey and clear. But are they as good as the Sikaflex? So, if you purchase the Wickes, in white, then this experiment would be very useful indeed, saving a big amount of money if found that Sikaflex could be substituted for the half price equivalent, in this case Wickes Hybrid. Both are Hybrid Polymer types (nothing to do with Silicone at all), and are Adhesive Sealants, for bonding. The Silicone will not bond. So, Mark, your experiment is a good one, very well carried out, but we must use the correct type. I would love to see this same experiment with Wickes Premium Hybrid vs Sikaflex. On spec, they are the same product, but are they in practise? what do you think about doing this? I like your channel, yourself and what you're doing and have subscribed. Hi, I have thought of an easier way to take out the free play. The long plastic bar that it pushes down on in the inside lock mechanism, there is a gap there. So drill a small hole in the top of the plastic bar and screw in a self tapper, it will then push down on the Head of the screw and it's adjustable when you screw the self tapper in or out ! It just removes the play caused by the worn plastic parts. 😊

Great video ! Just a thought , could you not put say a tie wrap around the alloy arm that pushes the button down 🤔. If you put the tie wrap on so that the square block faces downwards , it would have more depth to push that black button .

Mark your a gem , I’m six minutes from the end of your video hopefully you resolved your problem. I’ve been at my van for last three days in a row and still haven’t fixed it but I did notice the hook on the latch wasn’t sitting right . Didn’t go so far as to remove latch . Be at it again tomorrow. Thanks mate and great video👍🏻
