Review: Budget Crystal Presses - Lever Press vs Screw Press
In a "Take 2" from the first video, SW Watchmods compares the two most common types of budget crystal (and bezel) press. The lever press versus the screw mechanism-type of press. Note, this review is concerned with ** budget ** (value) versions of these presses which typically range from 16 GBP to approximately 60 GBP mark. Hopefully the second take of this review comes across as a sharper, to-the-point review of the two presses.

Tutorial - How to cut and fit a new crown and stem for your SKX
มุมมอง 14K3 ปีที่แล้ว
SW Watchmods gives a hobbyist's tutorial on how a new winding crown and stem is cut and fitted. A nice member of the public was struggling to find something similar and I wanted to be helpful :) - Helpful comments and advice welcomed freely! Info: A 4R36 / NH36 crown and stem combined typically measures 22mm Because I am paranoid I will initially cut a stem a little longer than I need by 2mm (S...

I wonder what you mean by "crystal."

The crystal is the glass on the face of the watch.

I had a cheap lever style. I bought a sapphire Crystal for my seiko turtle and unfortunately due to the curve of the case I couldn’t get the case to sit flat and still while I pressed down. As soon as I thought I had it, the handle broke and my Crystal is ever so slightly crooked in the case. My hand pressed into the broken metal and caused a scratch in my hand that drew blood. Lol. It’s only by a millimeter but it bothers me because I’m trying to be as precise as possible with my modding. I threw it away and will probably end up getting a screw down version for a slow and steady pressing action.

Could you make a video about the size of cases, chapter rings, movements and dials? Can be little tricky to figure out as a newbie

You failed to demonstrate the action in each. You basically just stood in front of the camera and ran your mouth. Didn't learn anything from this. Thumb down.

Having bought and used the budget lever type, I can say that they are terrible. Mine had the brass screw in inserts and basically pushed the brass threaded collet through the front of the crystal. Bang, broken a new crystal. Best place for these is in the recycle bin.

Hi Andrew, the lever came from Cousins UK... And the screw came from amazon. You can get them both from Cousins though. Their budget range is very reliable.
