    The only bad im a big fan of and i worship is TOP by listening to all their songs most of the time, i never really go and check reaction or opinions about there music because their music gives me the freedom to mean it in my own way and it comforts me. Watching your video i got to know that scaled and icy did not do well and trench is the best selling album. I loved your take on this, especially your story telling and video editing.

    Scaled and Icy is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. Some people dont like uplifting good feeling music. They toured forever on SAI and live stream exp etc, but to me is a musical masterpiece. Why ppl tend to say this is better than that is funny really. Every album is so good and they are all so different from one another. Thats what people are supposed to do grow change develop, not just keep repeating the same old things. I actually think people dont feel this way at all obviously do to there success and fans and money made etc, sure there are a couple people that want the band fit into a box. I personally respect a group willing to take risks and change the formula on each album.

    What I think a lot of people leave out when judging the album is that it was written in peak lockdown when everyone was freaking out and we didn’t know if we would even get out of lockdown. I don’t know about most people but that’s a time when I personally experimented growth in my passions, and that’s what I see when I look at sai. It’s Tyler and Josh experimenting, trying to write more up beat and happier (even though if you really listen to the lyrics it’s not a happy album) music for us during a dark and struggle some time of most people’s lives.

    I feel I can appreciate this video, as I was part of the group that really disliked SAI. Only when I stopped taking the album at face value and began exploring the album with no expectations, did I begin to enjoy it. I was the exact group that this was made for, and I feel like a fool for disrespecting the album like this. Looking at it now, I appreciate this album. This album has made me dance, made me think, made me cry, and I shouldn't judged it by it's cover.

    Scaled and Icy released just a month after I first got into tøp, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. It's not their best album, and it's not my favorite (that would be their self-titled album), but it is still a fantastic album. Also, that era was amazing. It was the first time I got to see them in concert, and I will never forget it. It kills me that SAI got so much hate.

    Awesome video! Just to be clear, I have a bias for SAI because it's the era during which I became a TOP fan. But I think it's a great album. Even though I don't like every song on it, the ones I do like make up for it (Never Take It, No Chances, Good Day, and Mulberry Street especially.) I don't think artists should be confined to only one genre or sound. Yes, I know most listeners wouldn't stay for very long if the sound keeps changing for their favorite bands, but I would kill to hear some bands try different sounds. I'm glad they made the album, tried a new sound and got the experience from it so they can continue to make great music in the future.

  • @mariekaomar
    @mariekaomar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I remember being a die hard top fan but honestly I stopped listening to them around the times trench came out. Going for different styles as an artist is fine and experimenting is very important, you can't be stuck in the same thing for years. but at the same time you can't expect people to like everything you do just because they liked your other stuff. The new albums attract a wildly different audience than self-titled, RAB or vessel did and it takes time for the new audience to gather. That doesn't mean it's a flop. but also I won't be listening to it

    i typically write SAI off as a lore album, in addition to the boys showing their growth as artists. it's not like the darker undertones were completely ommited, they were just shown differently and idk why people couldn't pick up on that

    This was probably one of their most important albums at that time. During the time the world was falling apart, they released something that was the opposite of what they usually sound like to a more happier sound. This to me was showing that Tyler was now a father and he didn’t want to just write the same sad Thing over and over and over again. If you listen to the album you can really hear play out how his life has changed drastically from Tench to something that is more upbeat and happier and lighter. If you go back to one of the biggest songs off of trench, neon gravestones, it shows how in an alternate universe, I feel personally that Tyler would not be here. However we are lucky to have him here. scaled and icy brought out the better side of them and showed that you don’t have to volunteer depression. But if you listen to the very end, it has one of their most important songs, which is redecorate, which you will always struggle with depression. To me this album was right on power with what should have come after Tench and scaled and icy was a masterpiece and itself and its own right.

    TOP is a band of contrasts, its always been. They had some fun songs before Trench, and I think that the Clancy Is Dead album condeses that quirkiness perfectly, with just the right amount of spicy here and there. Also is not as long as the others, so I always felt it as a transition album, a break from the previous storm to head into the next one. But it just happens that often we value more what's on both sides of the valley, and not as much the bridge we just used to get to the other side.

  • @Peeplii

    I love SAI now and its easily my #3 (honestly Clancy and Trench are kinda tied for #1 so maybe SAI is my #2) It came out at a bad time for me, dealing with the loss of my sister and then struggling with undiagnosed PTSD and anxiety all the way until this year. This year tho. Man. This year has been so good to me with life experiences and I truly think their music finds you when you need it. So I've been able to listen to SAI and enjoy the upbeat tone of it. Redecorate still hits a little hard, because it reminds me of my sister and how she didn't have a permanent room we could go back to because she was constantly on the move. I'll gladly love SAI

    2 things. Firstly. Masterful video. I really really like it. The pacing as a beautiful tempo to it, not spitballing information, rather letting us contimplate each word. The visual aesthetic very much so compliments twenty one pilots's vibe, (including the sound design). And the script is neat and efficient. You've got my sub hands down. And honestly, I'd love to talk about making a TOP themed video together. Secondly. Scaled and icy is a funny album. You're definatley right using the word "different" over "bad". No one tried to make something bad. Like, really ever. Even someone who purposefully makes something "bad" is usually to gain some positive reaction such as laughter. At it's worst its a Schadenfreude type thing. As someone who never got into SAI, i can comfortably say i dont like it. HOWEVER, i can recognise and appreciate the art of it. It is still an artistic marvel with alot of thought put into it. It's just not my vibe. And thats fine. I'd be selfish to assume everything has to abide by my specific taste.

    There is an introspection and light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel to a lot of Twenty One Pilots' music that as missing from Scaled and Icy. That doesn't mean it's bad art or anything. It feels like positivity for positivity's sake which misses the depth their other music holds. Light feels brightest when putting something dark next to it. That's what makes the hope so much more powerful.
