My passions are wide and varied - my husband says that I am an enigma wrapped up in a question mark :-) and as a result my videos are all over the roadmap!
My number one passion is horses - specifically dressage, combined driving, and saddleseat...but I love to watch any horse performing its job with excellence.
While my husband and I are currently horse-less and farm-less...we will be getting back to it. We will be relocating to N.C. and setting up our farm-ette again...my horses, my chickens, and raised-gardening. I can't wait!

I own & show Papillon dogs...such little dogs take up such a huge space in my heart.
Hubby and I both love camping and RV'ing - another thing we never seem able to get enough of.

My Papillons' Day room for while we are gone during the day for work. Each dog has his/her own space, treats, toys, etc. It's super important - especially with intact dogs - that they each have their own space. A couple of questions: 1) In your Amazon list, you have both the Bagail packing cubes and compression bags. Do they serve different purposes? 2) You mentioned shampoo when you listed liquids. I typically don't pack shampoo because virtually every place I stay (albeit stateside) has shampoo in the room. Is this not necessarily the case?
Hi! Cubes VS compression bags are just a personal choice. I prefer the bags, but many prefer the cubes. You will learn that plastic bags are banned, but this only pertains to single use bags. You can use the compression bags, no problem...just take them with when you .eave the country...yes, it seems most lodges now offer shampoo...but not 100%..bring a tiny bit just in case...or stock up at a lodge that has some :-)
They are beautiful..smart..sensitive to their people..agility ..and all in all one of the best breeds ever. ❤❤❤

Thanks for all the great advice. We are going to Kenya and Tanzania in July. I love photography, too and am taking my Nikon Z6 with 2 lenses (wide angle and telephoto).
Awesome, Robin!! I will be there next July, too (July 14 - August 1 - and - for those reading this with malice or thievery in you heart, my husband and dogs stay home). If you can pull it off, bring two bodies to avoid changing lenses...that dust is terrible for our cameras. I'd love a Z6! Nice camera!

Hey, Steve - you can bring re-usable plastics - the packing bags are just fine. They ask that you take them back with you even if you don't need them. You are going to have a great trip!

Hi, do you need water bottle with filter and a hat with a bug net?
Hi! Are you traveling with an outfitter - or have you booked independently? If you are using an outfitter (or booking through Go Ahead, who will hire an outfitter for you) you will not have to worry about water, at all. With any outfitter, you will be provided a nice re-usable water bottle (of course you'll use it there, but also ends up being a nice memento). You will also be provided endless, clean, delicious water. A couple of recommendations: Do not eat fruit or vegetables - almost without exceptions. The only safe one I have found is banana...and one's I sanitize before peeling with hand-sanitizer, then peel it myself. Same with an apple or orange. It is not worth jeopardizing such a once-in-a-lifetime trip by eating something that looks beautiful...but makes you miserable in the Serengeti - with minimal bathroom access...you get the picture. Also - ZERO ice in any drinks. Not worth it. I've been doing Kenya & Tanzania since 2013 - the recommendations are based on real experience 🙂
A hat is recommended - but - if you are traveling with an outfitter, most of them "gift" you a hat. Go Ahead does provide a hat to each traveler. :-)

Hi Kelly, that is super helpful thanks. Can you just confirm if I am okay to take a bag which has soft sides and a soft top, but has a flat firm floor with wheels and a pull along handle that remains within the bag when not in use. (I think that is what you are using in the video). I have read that you need Squashy bags on the small aircraft that take you on internal flights and for the Jeep transfers. What is your advice?

I got one ..The parents are DAD 4.5 lbs mom 7lbs why is my puppy 9 month old and 11 lbs???!!!! he's 11" tall and long..I do not over feed him
It can happen - these are a toy breed that use to be a larger spaniel - every once in a while a larger one comes along. If the Pap is 11" at the shoulder, then it is within the standard :-) Our standard does not specify a weight (other than it should be in proportion to weight).

I would love to see your Amazon list. Would you share. Also how do you compress those bags? I was looking at compression packing cubes since they don’t need a vacuum sealer but maybe you have bags that work without? Do you have suggestions on types of pants/shirts??

Just got the medium ll bean bag as you suggested. I really liked the way you bag opened up so nice and wide at the top . The bag I got doesn’t open like that. I guess they don’t make that bag anymore .
Kathy, the bag you have is perfect! You are right, though, they no longer offer the bag from this video. Disappointing, but...my travelers did have great success with they bag you just purchased!
What about binoculars
If you bring them, make sure it's a compact pair. Most things are pretty close up on the safaris in East Africa. But a small compact pair will not be useless :-)

We were told that we were not allowed to bring any plastic bags into Africa. That there was a $40,000 fine for 10 years imprisonment.
Single use bags are not allowed. Reusable ones are absolutely fine. My bags were inspected in Kenya this June and had no problem. They ask that you ,are sure to take them back home with you.
What about a Laptop ?
You certainly can bring one - all the lodges have wifi. I don't, but it's just my preference...

I would like to see some recommendations on good compression bags. I have used many in the past but they never lasted very long before splitting or refusing to compress. I am going on this trip with Go Ahead next September. A teeny tiny battery powered vacuum would be an amazing addition to the compression bags. I wonder if any exist? I will begin my search.

@@kellygast I am not one to sit around worrying about something. I researched a ton and ended up purchasing the Space Saver bags. I selected a set of six smalls. Supposedly they will each fit 5-6 sweaters, so I figured that would be perfect for a carryon. I will be giving them a test run next month when I go on the Go Ahead tour of the Albequeque Balloon Fiesta and tour of National Parks. It's a 12 day trip so this should make for a perfect opportunity to see if these bags hold up and do what they say. PLUS, they come with a travel pump to suck the air out instead of having to roll them. It's a win! I am also practicing only taking a carry on. This should be interesting.

Lotion, creams, any make up thst liquids mouth wash, etc
Why do you need two shaving creams?? why take two large bottles only to quarter fill them with detergent and shampoo ...surely using a smaller bottle with enable you to take two other products and why would you need such a huge amount of foundation ... 10ml's is plenty for more than enough for couple of weeks an entire bottle is 30ml LOL! you also have to put liquid concealer, mascara, lipgloss, creams, primer, lotions etc ... they count the bottle size not the amount of product in it.. you can buy everything at the airport after TSA to enable you to take what you need as long as you don't go over the top! why would anyone come to you with questions when all you did is stick a few bottles into a bag! and still made mistakes LOL!

@@kellygast I travel for my job in the music industry and i have been on at least 500 plane trips this year alone so yes i do know how to pack light and right! it has taken a year for you to reply so hopefully you have learnt to pack for a short trip lol! don't take more than you need, flat toiletry and make up bags are best not bulky ones and roll tightly and neatly into ziplock bags, packing cubes and compression cubes... take a large cabin case and you can easily pack 20 changes of clothes/full outfits with ease.... 30 g of toothpaste is enough for 30 brushes as in one g per brush and 10mls of product like primer, perfume and foundation is enough for a two week holiday ...packing light and right makes the trip smooth and fun! no checked luggage so no lost luggage... i am going to Portugal for an organised music week but have extended it to 10 days and there are 6 themed days or nights so i need to pack all that ... travel day there , change for the pool and then meal .... then onward travel day and evening outfits, then two outfits per day including a lot of accessories and shoes etc then the final travel day all in a cabin case and a personal item smaller than normal airlines ...so yes i know what i am doing but instead of dismissing helpful info you should embrace it...also you can get 6 hair washes from 100ls and more from the conditioner that is with long hair.. do a trial run with products and you will be shocked how little is used in one week, multiply it for two weeks and if it is longer then buy there..
I had to put my toiletries in 2 qt size bags. I hope I won't have a problem with the TSA....

Hoping this bag will do me! Been trying to find a bag the perfect size...(apparently the size is 17cmx17cm) but everyone seems to use bags either smaller or larger..never exact! I'm actually moving country and hope not to leave the house for at least two weeks once I get over there so I'm needing to pack enough for that time! I really hate that they made the bags so small. Struggling to find something to the maxed size as possible cause everything I have stuffed so far doesn't fit lmao.. I really didn't think 8 of the 100ml bottles would be so hard to fit into a bag! It's just like almost 2 of everything...shampoo, conditioner, body wash, mouthwash, toothpaste, deodorant, some lip balms and mascara and antiseptic cream! Haven't even gotten my asthma puffer or a bottle of nail polish in the thing yet! 😅😅😅
You don't need to put in your puffer or medications that are prescribed! you are only allowed 1 litre absolute max .. if you moved country why not just check a bag?? hoping not to leave the house is crazy when you will need food so buy stuff when you get there! airports sell everything so buy a few things at the airport!!! why do people make things super complicated and hard on themselves!

Take solid body wash ... toothpaste you only need one gram per brush.. your puffer is medical so goes seperate and get a travel deodorant or use a solid one.. lip balms are solid so don't go in the bag only pastes, gels and liquids..
If you are moving country then you buy the stuff in the new country LMAO!!
