that team deserves 3 years of community service D:
I wanna get back into this game
omg i'm going through this exact issue right now. I'm super stressed because i barely have any work to do! I feel guilty because people would kill to have a job where they are getting paid six figures and put in like 2-3 active hours of work per week so why am i complaining? I think it's more about the fear of getting "found out" and getting fired so the company can consolidate my work to someone else. It doesn't help that my manager is absentee also. He barely gives me any direction and i feel ostracized by him. I honestly wish i could get comfortable with my current situation because it's really not that bad. Again it's the fear of what may happen. I work private sector on a 1 year contract.
If I've learned anything, it's that there is no shame in making money as long as you get your tasks done. As long as you do that, nothing matters. Just do your job in a timely matter and get paid. After that, focus on your hobbies and have fun in life. Your employer couldn't care less about you. It's up to you to create your own happiness. A job is a job. It is very rare to find a job that gives your fulfillment. You have to find fulfilment on your own.
thank you for sharing your story! As an engineering student, I wish I could watch more content like this
Unless there is some pressing reason you must enter the workforce straight after getting your bachelors degree, it seams like a no brainer to not get your masters and just be done with it. Like others have said, if no one gives a shit about credentials, go do your masters now while you can before it doesn't make sense to go back to school later. MSEE are rare as hens teeth, so go do it.
We are not the only country in this world that is fear mongering though. I get what you are saying but better safe than sorry. World peace would be nice but lets be real here.
Good to see you uploading videos again, and no longer depressed. 😮
Can you do a vid on internships especially for the defense industry
thank you for the blatant transparency. it’s hard to come by these days 🙏
I'm just a tech at Intel and I make 52k with an associates degree. And they're paying for my BSE and eventually MSE
Note for people having a hard time finding a job after their BSE: Intel bases your starting pay grade on your degree and they go up by about 10k from AAS to BSE for the same tech job. My friend got his BSE in EE and worked as a tech for 2 years, making about 60k, then got an engineering job internally (further increasing his pay). I'm sure other places do this, too, but my experience is only here.
Also, for engineer positions, you start at the next higher pay grade with a master's than a bachelor's. Of course, you can negotiate within that range, but you will definitely make more with a master's.
I feel ya brotha, God bless 👍
Isn't it recommended that you don't publicly announce that you have a clearance?
Yes, you pretty much are putting a target on your back in a sense
100% , i guess he missed the opsec briefing lol but Secret clearances are not a big deal . Its when you go TS SCI is where it gets serious
I realized I never did respond to this comment... yes generally you don't want to announce your clearance. However, they hand out Secret clearances like candy in most of defense contracting. And to be honest, I never really even learned anything "secret", it mainly just let me be near things so that I could do my job. Trust me, if someone kidnapped me for info they would probably know more than I do at this point lol
@@theoddengineer42 "They hand out Secret clearances like candy....". Yeah they kind of do. LOL
This is pretty informative and well-paced, I wanted to watch a little for some info but stayed for the whole 22min
Is this ip because the sequel is out? We need more attention to this series!!
I love that by the end of it you kind of figured out what is going on. A lot of people jump straight into getting married to fill a void. There has been a big shift to turn "engineers" into a clerical class of jobs where everyone is a generic cog in the wheel. My last team wanted to outsource every bit of work that got slightly technical to either other teams, or outside of the company and wanted me to do purely clerical tasks.
I had the same experience
I quit engineering out of college. Started my own bookstore.
Good video. From my experience the military just makes you feel incompetent, despite not being so. When i quit I remember feeling depressed too.
Thanks for the post, very informative. I'm in the relocation space - I work with companies that send their employees on projects around the world. Curious to know you mentioned BAE Systems for example, would the defense contractor teams share the same HR team resources our would they be completely separate? Most of my HR contacts like at GE, Boeing, Lockheed Martin seem to have no idea about this and only handle the population of employees that are not under the defense contracts business. I'm trying to build my network in this space and obtain new customers as we already do Military, GSA and Commercial for these kinds of companies thanks in advance for any insight.
"I turn black lines into red lines and I turn red lines into black lines." 🤣🤣🤣
You're one of those people who are funny without trying to be. 🤣🤣🤣 Good stuff!
It's not what you know, it's who you... *blow*???? 🤔 Are y'all blowing people in the engineering field???
Even in R&D at one of the companies you mentioned I feel the same 💀
Awesome!
real tech companies pay double what defense contractors pay
Do you think it's good to have on my resume? Let's say I do an Internship
Yeah but in defense contracting you do nothing lmao, in tech you have to work. also tech companies are also usually located in way higher CoL areas
fuck defense lol. they pay less, and they don't let you smoke pot. like how do you expect to get any GOOD engineers?
If I have learned anything from working in a corporate job, part of the push to pull as many people back and reorganizing the way things are done is mainly about wrestling power back and not about what makes sense.
These are the real moneymakers lol
relatable
thanks for sharing
This is literally spot on
“Am I supposed to design a satellite right next to my dehumidifier?” I’m dead 😂
Where's Nilis brain?
For anyone replaying trying to get the crow brain -slowly sneak up with inviso -jump on tiny ledge where crows are -BOP'EM!!! Mwahahahahaaaa!!!
In case you didn’t know yet, it has a sequel! Coming this month, also there’s a PS4 VR middle for the upcoming sequel Also not bad, the meat circus and final boss is a wild thing, so good work going though it anyway

I just started playing this game two days ago. I am stuck in the same situation, this helped alot. Thanks man. Can't wait for part 2.
This is very helpful thank you for sharing, I just subbed.
You gotta' start watching Joshua Fluke more. There are three reasons why corpos want to keep commercial property: 1. They can WRITE OFF the expenses off of their taxes. 2. If the corporation owns the property they force people to work in they DON'T want to lose the asset. 3. Boomer and older gen x-er types are still a majority in Upper management. They ain't gonna let you work from home.
Funny enough I watched his videos awhile ago when he finally left his job and started taking flight lessons. It was kind of inspiring. Haven't kept up with his channel since then... I think I slowly accepted my fate lol
Dude, I feel you, these corporations suck to work at. Honestly it motivates me to embrace a minimalist lifestyle and FIRE (Financial Independence and Retire Early) program.
Great post! I studied Electronics Technology at a Community College in California which was “supposed” to get me a job through PG&E since it was sponsored by them, but that never happened. Then I transferred my credits to Thomas Edison State University for their B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology (Online program), but that made my wife and I hate engineering after I had my electronics lab setup in our bedroom. Online degrees in Engineering reeeeeaaally suck. Now I’m allergic to studying engineering and the thought of becoming an engineer. I’ve actually switched and I’m now in grad school for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as Naturopathic Medicine. Not saying that engineering sucks for everybody, because I think that there are a good amount of engineers who enjoy their jobs. I also worked as a Metrology Technician, and you might think that technicians have more hands-on fun, but it’s not necessarily the case. There’s a lot of down time, and when there is stuff to do, it’s extremely busy and pressure from crappy supervisors who have no formal training or degree in management. Anyway, I like alternative medicine way more. There’s a lot of money to be made in it and it can help people. Best of luck to you. Thank you for this video.
Hard mode. Escape consulting
Thank you for showing how to get the brain from the crows. I was struggling with this part as well.
Omg ur hilarious & so relatable, srsly don't know how you don't have more views!!
Damn i forgot all about this show
I approve of the political viewpoints lol
This guy is my spirit animal.
Another thing you have to consider is the "Non-compete" clause of the contract. The last thing you want is to quit or get laid off and having to deal with getting dragged to court to fight a "Non-compete" clause whose scope is really broad.
Defense contacting are the Kings of "If it ain't works don't fix it" to a MASSIVE fault.
