No, she finished it in 1979 - and it wasn't released because Richard as well as A & M just didn't think it would sell, and might interfere with the success of the Carpenters. She was devastated over this.

She sounds this awesome with a horrible microphone. lol. No auto tune or tricks, folks. Insanely great vocal abilities. The one and only Karen Carpenter. How many incredibly great songs did she leave? Lost her at 32. God rest her beautiful soul.

Gosh, I just adore her! Total charm and personality are off the charts. The most amazing female vocalist of all time in my opinion. Perfect sound, and impeccable vocals for a live performance.

Note two things here: 1. This segment is to promote the release of “Lovelines,” which features 4 of Karen’s solo recordings. Yet not one of the songs is playing in the background of the segment. 2. Ironically or not, Mom Carpenter passed away on Oct 1, 1996. Karen’s solo album was released 1 week later on October 8, 1996.

In 1973 I was living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the first memory I have of that time is holding the Carpenters Singles album cover. I remenber asking my siblings to play the record over and over for me (I was only 4 years old by tehn and they hated me for that!), How I enjoyed Karen´s voice and Richard's arrangements! Great memories!!!

In this interview, Karen says she met Tom Burris in April 1980. Then he left the country for 5 weeks, and when he returned from Mexico he proposed to her on June 16th. So basically the only knew each other for a few weeks. No wonder why the marriage failed. They were married on August 31st 1980, and by December of that year the marriage was basically over.
