They'll take pretty regular cleaning and frequent inspections to keep them efficient. You'll want to clean it every few months to prevent soot buildup, check for leaks or corrosion, and monitor temperature changes. Proper water treatment helps too. I'd say aim for at least annual maintenance. The more your system runs the more you will need to maintain! Let me know if that helps!

@@davehuber6949 Every new piece of equipment that contains an A2L refrigerant will have a factory installed refrigerant sensor or come with one. They are maintenance free and do not need to be calibrated and come pre calibrated from factory. Some of the advanced refrigerant sensors may come with a built in self calibration mechanisms that automatically adjust for minor drifts over time.

@@ScottPlambeck-u6f 410a units are no longer being produced. It’s whatever is in stock is what is left. R32 is part of the A2L line. It’s R32 and 454B which are part of the line. 410a has a sell out period of the next 3 years. So vendors have the next 3 years to sell their 410a units. Your best bet is to request an A2L unit. The downfall is the lead times are long so be proactive and plan ahead of time. Don’t wait until the unit is down. With long lead times look ahead and if you know you would like to upgrade in the future. Get going on it now. It’s better to plan ahead than scramble with unplanned down time! Great question! I know very little about that, so I would suggest you talk with a water treatment professional. My goal was to explain the basics. With any system, cycles of concentration still matter, cleaner incoming water matters, but then the chemical program controls how we run.

This is just what happens when you don't follow proper procedures. Happens more on certain designs because the furnace tube doesn't account for expansion or the rear door is set too close to the sheet. Condensing boilers are far worse because the acidic flue gas will start attacking the heat exchanger.
