This haul was purchased over the summer, but I just hadn't found the time to put it all together. What a DEAL! Most ended up going to charity organizations, but some I did keep for me.

Washing out your cloth pads by Melissa's Makes
Hey Melissa, if the stinky yarn is machine washable you can put it into pantyhose or a knee high and tie it shut. Then wash and dry on delicate in your washer. After it comes out of the dryer leave it out to make sure it's completely dry for a couple of days before storing it.
thank you so much, will give this a try!
😊😊😊
thank you for the comment!
Hi, Melissa! I just subscribed to your channel today and am so glad I did. Great job on all of the toques/beanies/hats you crocheted. Congrats on reaching your goal. I look forward to watching more of your vids. Have a great weekend.
thank you so much! I very much appreciate your kind words. 🎉
What a wonderful accomplishment! And what a great thing to do~! Glad I found your channel. ♥🧶
thank you so much! 🥰
For those of you demeaning my work, screw you. For those of you being nice, thank you! As mentioned in the video, the lady that I send my work to weaves in the ends that are loose, as she is no longer able to crochet (arthritis). This gives her purpose. She also belongs to a stitch club that meets weekly and will do these together. It's the same every year. Everyone that leaves a rude comment on my videos will be blocked, it's as simple as that. I hope everyone has the day they deserve.
Hi how can I donate to I like to crochet also 😊
hello! Start by searching for charity organizations in your area, and asking what their needs are.
Thank you or the idea, what size crochet hook do you use when doubling the yarn?
I use an 8mm hook 😃
Do you instructions to make your hats? I make crochet hats to donate also. It looks like you don't have very many rows. The ones I make have more rows and takes me longer to make. I would like something quicker to make.
Hi, Pat! I just typed it into the description box above, happy to share! I usually do 8 rows total on an 8mm hook (double stranded yarn)
@@heyhey_melissacrochets I have been making hats from this video. It's single strand and size J, 6mm hook. I'm going to try yours because it will go faster. Thanks for sharing. th-cam.com/video/G6OoYkwiRjI/w-d-xo.html Bag-O-Day crochet
What size hook do you use for the hats? Love that you do them for charity.
Hello! I use an 8mm hook, since I double strand.
I’ve made sun glass cases and Kindle covers with the Bernat Home Dec.
awesome! thats a great yarn - do you enjoy working with it?
That is amazing!!! I’m going to do the same thing that is a great idea
you absolutely should! great way to use up scraps, or one-of skeins. :D
Beautiful flowers. Beautiful beanies and Beautiful person. So wonderful that you crochet all these for charity. I am crocheting for charity as well but I don’t have anything near your number of beanies. Maybe I’ll add 10 beanies a year as well 😊
thank you for your kind words! Adding 10 per year is a great motivator. Although I may have to stop at 150 someday. They are tiring on the hands. But, doing them throughout the year does help. What are you crocheting for charity?
What a wonderful donation. They are all so unique and pretty.
thank you very much! 💜
If your friend doesn't like the croquet yarn, I would be interested in it if you want to get rid of it. I like it 😄 we could negotiate a price if you want.😊
She has already used it. One of her favourites! But, thanks for the comment!
You have a adorable fur baby.
Thank you! He and I both agree - he is a handsome boi!
@@heyhey_melissacrochets yes he is
Hey Melissa, great haul!!!
Hey @angrycatcrafts! thanks for watching, this was a great haul.
Good morning and tfs.
Thank you for watching! ✨🌻🧡
@@heyhey_melissacrochets you’re welcome
Yarntastic❤
It sure was!
Great deal. Love donating. I make amigurumi working on a shark. ❤
Love that! What do you usually donate?
@heyhey_melissacrochets hats, scarves, teddies and whales. Lol
Wow, now that’s a bargain😍👍
abso-fruitly! I was happy to go and pick up this haul :D (any yarn, really)
Wow 😊😊😊
agree! It was a crazy amount of yarn.
I have always been nervous about thrifting yarn. I worry there would be bugs, or smells, or something. But, you are making me feel better about it!❤
give it a go, but be careful. I always check it over as thoroughly as possible before purchasing.
I'm allergic to wool too. I also thrift for yarn. Last Tuesday, there was so much 100% WOOL yarn at the Savers near my house. Beautiful colors. The yarn looked like home spun. Only $ 3.99 for 2 hanks in a bag. I could have cried. Being allergic to wool is an inconvenience sometimes. Good thing I was able to find a few bags of acrylic.
It sure is an inconvenience! So many beautiful yarns contain wool. Glad you at least have found some yarn. 💖
A couple weeks ago I got 30 pounds of cotton yarn from goodwill. All brand new skeins, great hauls. ❤ Nikki
Great score! what do you plan on making with them?
@heyhey_melissacrochets washcloths, dish towels, scrappy rugs, and potholders. I just love cotton yarn, lol 😆
Hi Melissa, I love your cardigan. Awesome job. Melissa did make a black and white Cardigan. I started one and got mad half way through. Lol. It is sitting in the closet on a shelf. Moving on. Have you try the dollar tree store. I love that yarn.
Hey Michelle! Thanks for the comment. You should continue with the cardigan! But, I know that's easier said than done, mentally 😜. I have tried a few dollar store yarns and have been pleased with all! Just wish the skeins were bigger, however.
I see brown. Lol
I love watching stash organization!
The best content on TH-cam!
How you feel about red, is how I feel about pinks. I like mauve and Victorian rose, or dusty pinks. But most of them I hate.
I like those pinks, too! Some are just too "flamingo", so I understand where you are coming from. I do love "Softee Chunky - shade Grey Rose", its a beautiful colour.
Looks great 🎉
thank you! It is nice having it all in one room, now
You make.beautiful cardigans 40 skeins?
Thank you for your guess & compliment! You were close 😁
Hi Melissa! Those blankets are beautiful. I'm sure they will make some lucky kids happy. I belong to Project Linus and we make blankets for babies and kids too. When I have small scraps left I make small blankets for many animal shelters here in Western NY. Everyone needs a warm hug. Thanks for all the great videos and for bringing comfort to hurting kids. My poodle Jack is always next to me when I crochet like Larry. 😅
Hey Anna! Thanks so much for your kind words. I have done some work for Project Linus in the past, too. Love that Jack "helps" you crochet!
I love watching these videos and crocheting along. Thank you for this fun video!❤
Thank you for your kind comment! I love these videos, too! I always find it fascinating what types/brands of yarn that people prefer. Do you have a favourite? Stay tuned - I try to have a video uploaded every Sunday morning.
I love these kinds of videos and I admire the discipline to track for a month! So my guess would be 20-25 skeins !
After watching the entire video I am blown away you are so talented! I could not pick a favourite from all the cardigans that you have made (the white daisy one was a masterpiece ✨) and of course you used much more than I suggested, I usually weigh all my projects and at the end of each month I calculate how much yarn I have used up and film a podcast about it because as you said - the yarn label always ends up in the bin or I lose it 😅
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words. I loved the white daisy cardigan, too!
4500 yards
I love your hexis im late to the trend but im getting started on some hexi xmas gifts thanks for the ideas❤
They make great gifts - you can make them a relaxed fit, so they are easy to size!
Just now watching this video on August 3, 2024. I’ve started thinking about getting a yarn winder and you mentioned this video in another video of yours that I was watching. I appreciate seeing how it went t together and how you used it. Thank you so much! ❤-Brenda in Virginia
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your kind words, Brenda. I love my stanwood, still. I will mention that its not amazing at winding 4-weight yarns, I usually do have to cake those twice. That being said, maybe its just mine...I have never seen anyone else mention this.
What a great idea . What about a comfort blanket for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy ? Also comfort blankets for cats and dogs in an animal shelter ? Well done !
thank you for the thoughts! I love that the charity I support will distribute where needed. They cover over 20 local locations. :D
Hi love your blankets and enthusiasm, have you ever heard of boggy creek blanket drive in Florida?
hello! I have. Unfortunately shipping across the border (I am in Canada) is much more than I can afford. Thanks for the thought!
Good job on using some of your yarn for blankets. It made a difference in the lives you made blankets for. I donated some blankets to a shelter in Mexico. It feels good to share our gift with others.😊😊
Love that! It does feel good to use our skills for good - agree.
Omg that’s a wonderful idea and Larry is just adorable!! Colors u chose look so good together. I’ve been taking a break bc one of my thumbs hurt . So I’ve been making g cakes with yarn and looking g through my stash❤
thank you so much for your kind words. I love caking up my yarn, too - I feel it shows the repeat of colour much better! Hope you can get back to it soon.
The Flower cardigans look very beautiful 💐
thank you!
A yarn house - sounds like a dream house! Thank you for posting it's interesting to see other people's yarn collection
sure does sound like a dream house! I find other people's collection fascinating too. Especially vintage yarns.
Thank you for sharing your yarn gems 🤩you have great taste and are very knowledgeable about the yarns it’s fun to learn a little about their histories. Love the vintage yarns. Do you ever come across vintage hooks and needles? 😇
Vintage yarns are the best! I do see vintage tools in the thrift stores, but I don’t have any interest in collecting them. I love my Prym ergonomic hooks! I use interchangeable knit-picks knitting needles, so I am all set!
Hello neighbor, I am in Southern Alberta and just found your channel. I thought I recognized the Value Village price tags and decided to check and see where you were from.
Hello! thanks for the comment. I am in SW Ontario. Do you enjoy thrifting yarn as well?
@heyhey_melissacrochets yes, I don't get there that often but every time I go to Value Village, I head straight to the yarn section. I grew up near Toronto
Hi Melissa, I have been enjoying your videos. I love to look for yarn at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and church rummage sales too. I used to hate Homespun yarn until I made a scrap afghan holding one strand of acrylic yarn along with it. It made it so easy to work with. My favorite nap afghan when it gets cold. I live near Rochester NY . 👋
Thanks for the tip on the homespun! Will need to give that a try. Do you often check your thrift stores for yarn? :)
@@heyhey_melissacrochets Yes all the time! During the summer I like to stop at garage sales to check for yarn too. Are you going to the Spinrite tent sale? Someday I hope to make it there.
@@annacentola Garage sales are great! The tent sale is at my workplace, so I do try to go over when I am able. Usually not the first few days - the lineup is astronomical and I need to be at my desk.
Hi Ms Melissa. Thank you for sharing your great finds. I also like thrifting, especially the yarn . You never know what great finds you can get. I can hardly wait to see what you created with them . Hello from Colorado Springs Co USA. Big hugs 😊
hello! thanks so much for your comment. I am enjoying youtube. I have a video in progress with a bunch of these yarns. Stay tuned! I love your tote series. As a teen, I had close to 40 totes of yarn, a lot stacked in my bedroom. I am not allowing myself to hoard the yarn this time around.
Enjoyed watching & crocheting 🧶 Lovely fur baby!
Thanks so much! He will be in more soon. I also have a fancy microphone now for my videos. Stay tuned!
Hi Melissa you are so pretty and I love your collection!! I do the same thing with little balls of yarn😂. It’s so much fun to make cakes with mixes of colors!! Tfs love your. Collection. I need to move out of nyc bc we don’t have thrift stores like they do in other states. And all the yarn stores are either upstate ny or another place like Boleyn and I do t drive now so I take public transportation. lol Tfs your cardigans are GORGEOUS!! New subby yay🎉❤
thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words. I should do another worsted weight stash tour. have bought a few more skeins 😅
Hi Melissa, subscribed today! Love how You face lights up seeing Your new finds and the vintage goodies! Looking forward to Your Yarn Adventure! Have an Amazing Day ❤
thank you so much! Im glad I can share my excitement with you all. I will soon have another thrifting video. :D
How do you get past all the fuzz Of the bitty yarn and other yarn
I don’t find it fuzzy at all - I don’t like fuzzy yarn, much - so I don’t buy anything with a “halo”
