half the games i play on my deck are unsupported but work perfectly fine.

I almost exclusively use my steam deck for mgsv and it's by far the most optimized game I've played for it excluding rimworld and darkest dungeon, yet it only gets rated playable because you have to type your name at the start

Funny coincidence. I tried BG3 just yesterday. The artwork is visibly created for a higher resolution. It's ok, but both desktop BG3 and low res games look better. For me the bigger issue is the controls. I am impressed by the solution Larian put in to deal with a large number of skills. They're arranged in radial menus, as far as can tell as many wheels as you need. You cycle through the wheels with the bumpers, select the skill with stick. It's impressive design really. But the thought of going through that every turn for every action other than main hand attack puts me off.

Just because you _can_ play a game on the Deck doesn't mean that you _should_ play a game on the Deck. I love playing games like Stardew Valley on the Deck because the game's already been optimized for its console port, so the Deck behaves like something like a Switch would, but more powerful-er. But Euro Truck Simulator 2 is Steam Deck Verified...and all but impossible to wrangle not because it's technically unable to do the job but because the game is WAY too complex to be played with a controller on a seven-inch screen!

Either drink more water or find a way to do post production to remove the dry mouth noises from your audio. Couldn't keep watching, those noises make my stomach churn.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ is the perfect Steam Deck game.

The "switch tax" doesn't refer to a markup. These games cost the same on the switch as they did on other platforms at launch (some times even cheaper). It's a tax because you're essentially re-buying a game you very likely already own for the privilege of playing it handheld. And it's that tax that the Deck removes.

I see early access for pre-order as a win-win. Developer can use it as a metric for how many sales they might get and large scale testing. The consumer can test it, if they like it or not and refund it, when they don't. Those who are criticle about it and watch streams and can get a better view on it.
