Reini Friebertshauser - Off-center turning
Hi the wood is green o driy
All hat makers use green wood. Supposedly the greener the better and some of them wet the wood during the process to avoid having it get brittle and split. Once it is very thin it also makes it easier to bend the rim on the form.
I have used a French Rolling pin . If you make a large recipe , say 500-600 Slovak pierogies. A marble rolling pin light years better because of its mass & the dough not sticking .
Mr. Michelson I am just amazed by your skill and by your art. Of all the videos I have watched on so many subjects never have I been so enthralled. Thank you for sharing such knowledge. Terry from central TX.
Horrible video quality.
I'm not sure why the should is needed & the dove tail. First time I've seen anyone do this.
Mo, you are inspiring. I want to try this carving technique you so nicely demonstrated
All Northcoast woodturners should leave a thumbs up.
You are kidding me 2 1/2 hour youtube!
Bravo on the scoop... Loved ALL your tips... and especially liked the M6 bolts... did you have 2 back-up nuts at the end of the bolt to lock in the bolt to the jaws... That also looks like a longer bolt that a 1"???... This was a very informative vid... THANKS
The jaws are already threaded so these should act just like the normal screws used to attach the various jaws to the chuck. I don't believe there would be any access to the rear to use nuts if you even wanted to. Personally I never knew what size bolt fit the chucks having depended on the manufacturer to supply them. Pete said that these were 55 mm long for a 2.5" sphere. Naturally longer or shorter could be used for other size scoops.
Thanks for the kind words. I calculated the M6 x 1 bolts so they would bottom out down into the chuck jaws, but still be long enough to clamp the scoop just past the centerline of the sphere. I added one nut on each to sort of stiffen them up some. Those lessened the amount of flex each bolt had when I tightened them down on the scoop. FYI: M6 x 1 is the metric thread size, with "1" being the thread pitch. The bolts were 55mm long.
@@petewade7750 thanks for this 2nd message... it DID answer my ??
Another good video. Say, you all can replace those fractions and high price tools by just tooling thin enough by using your thumb and forefinger. We just turning coffee scoops here. Not rocket science.
Thanks. The goal is to try and create a perfect sphere. Not everyone, even me with 30+ years of turning experience can just eyeball one. Everybody turns differently.
@@petewade7750 , with the help of my Powermatic I create a perfect sphere all the time. Ha
Hard to follow. Explanations not very good.
Poor quality video. Cannot read the white board.
Hummingbirds are open nesters and won't use a bird house. Have fun anyway!
Thanks for the tips
Sure would be nice to see the pencil lines = every one does the same = I would use a black super fine pen !
Dear Pete, i am so happy with this video, its gold for me. So manny thanks for sharing and bless you all!❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣🙏🙏🙏

AH learned from SB and pretty much ripped off all she learned including tools. Shame that even the angle finder is referred to as an AH device. Shows how camera presence and good looks go a long way in rising to the top of social media. Without doubt she is brilliant as a turner but SB light to get credit forore than the 40-40 grind. My 2 cents.
Totally agree. She may be a great turner but she seems very self promoting and clearly bases her supposedly unique tools on those of others. Not original.
Nice presentation with some great tips... but your irregular hexagon is an irregular octagon! :-)
can you not drill a hole in a 1 /2" dowel of pine?
You may find that is no simple task drilling into end grain as the drill will tend to go off track. I suppose it isn't impossible just very difficult to do.
OK Thanks @@NorthcoastWoodturners
Way cool. Makes me want to re-vote in #45. Happy days!
Where to purchase these beautiful humming bird houses? Have family in NC too. :)
Sorry Nancy we don't seem to have any contact information on Jerry at the moment. I did a few searches and he comes up with some art centers that might be able to contact him.
Thank you for taking the time to do that for me. :)@@NorthcoastWoodturners
Amazing. Thanks for so many tips in making these.
Wow. I knew some of this but the explanation of the sizing ratios. New tool designs. Anxious to watch part 2. 😊
Amazing turning.
Beau travail !❤
Magnifique Un magicien 😻
very bad video!!!!!!!!!!!!
so great
Learn a whole lot from George.
hes doing the number one thing that Batty tells you not to, rub the bevel.
Tomorrow I will take two of my hummingbird house blanks and mahe a couple of square humming bird houses.
Sorry, but the end of this is total diaster. Also I notice the scars to prove that. Good for you to get it down to realities.
I can get the work shit plz
really a great video. Thank you very much. Could you send me a diagram with measurements and hole distances, internal and external diameter, to build a Bass flute in C (C). take care of yourself friend. Signed up.
I would recommend you go to www.flutopedia.com/. Good explanation of determining factors for measurements and a calculator that works.
@@NorthcoastWoodturners thanks friend🙏
Tertarik mengetahui lebih jauh. Kiranya sy mampu berbahasa Inggris.
This is excellent. What a great teacher
it's been 5 years, what are you sing now?
More or less the same camera setup. Endoscope cameras are better now, and still under $25
Thanks for the tips.
A very well thought out and presented demonstration. Well done guys.
He had turned some very nice pieces. Good video to watch.
I originally thought this video was going to be way too long for my California lifestyle. I stand corrected. Good video for all to watch.
hi Jerry. You inspired me and I made 3 of them today!!!!!!!!!!!!!One cedar and 2 crab apple houses
Are these just decorative? Hummingbirds are not cavity nesters, so I don't think they would use these
Nice demo. Thank you!
I absolutely love the beehive yarn bowl!! Do you have one for sale?
I enjoyed this. Ty for sharing.
Don’t know why I haven’t hunted for you before tonight. Found you and subbed. Great stuff you shared with this group.
If the wood cracks can you still fill it with CA glue?
Well done. Very understandable 👍
You apparently care more about that stupid ass wood than your children!
