    You can enable a setting to make a shutter sound out the speaker for both electronic and mechanical shutter separately. Also be careful with zone focus for static subjects it's not as good as single point. More for moving subjects

    Great to see product photography performed without the LED boxes that add so much glare and that many folks use on the cheap these days for eBay photos. Particularly enjoyed the barn board and quartz/marble countertop scraps for backgrounds. Very nice photos. Question: the countertop pieces-were they polished or matte?

    • @Todd_Kuhns
      @Todd_Kuhns 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'd have to say they were neither glossy or matte. Something in between. Moving the lights so that they are not reflecting off the surface of the background straight back into the lens is key to controlling any surface.

    Hi Todd. I’m a newbie at 72 yo. I hate taking photos with a cellphone. I have been using an old Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS on a tripod with LED work lights from the garage and white cardboard reflectors to take photos of items to sell on eBay. The items are small in size and I use the macro mode on the camera which is quite limited. When I came upon your excellent video it made me want to consider a new camera. I haven’t enjoyed photography for decades. I had a Canon AE-1 decades ago that I loved using. I’ve been watching MANY YT videos about cameras in general as well as the Fujifilm X100V and VI but most owners use it for street photography. It was a pleasure to watch you use it for product photography. I am sure the X100’s macro mode is quite limited. Have you attempted tiny objects such as postage stamps and coins? I would love to hear your thoughts.

    • @Todd_Kuhns
      @Todd_Kuhns 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The lens on the x100 will focus rather close. I have often used it at a wedding to photograph the rings. However, you will not be able to fill the frame with a postage stamp so I would not say it is the camera of choice if macro photography is your goal. Fuji makes an xt30 and now the xt50 which is about the size of the x100 but will allow you to change the lens. Then you'll have full access to all of Fuji's lens and they make a few very nice macro lenses. Thanks for watching and for your comments!

      @@Todd_Kuhns Tomorrow I am going to see this lens that I was very interested in being able to purchase. Why did it disappoint me? I watched almost all the reviews on youtube about this lens and the final conclusion was that this tele zoom is not suitable for portraits... each of us has certain standards and for me, as far as this lens is concerned, it does not meet these standards. I understand that the maximum aperture starts at f 2.8 and is not the same as f 2 or f 1.4, but even at f 2.8 I expected the subject separation to be much more accentuated. It doesn't happen with this telephoto... For landscape photography it's a great option, but for portraiture it's only good in situations where you don't want to blur the background.

    • @Todd_Kuhns
      @Todd_Kuhns 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dandanu2526 Interesting. I would disagree with that for the most part. It may not blur a background like the 90 f2 or the 50 f1 but at 2.8 you will be able to blur a background. Neither of those lenses will focus as close as the macro. If that is not a need then the 80 maybe isn't for you.......thanks for your input!

    So the ibis bounces around in the camera while it is turned off. Once you turn on the camera it stays put. Try it; you’ll see. 😊. One question: I noticed the camera getting a little warm right around the grip area, front and back. And this happens fairly quickly without much use. I had the V and don’t recall to warm up so quickly. I got the VI on June 20th, 4 months exactly after ordering it on day 1. Ridiculous. So I haven’t had the opportunity to take a lot of photos with it yet.

      @@Enrique-the-photographer With the digital teleconverter x100vi only crops the image, so you can think of it as a shooting experience only, otherwise you could just shoot 35mm (ff equivalent) and crop yourself after as well. The image quality is the same but obviously you get a smaller image. On the x100v it would also upscale the cropped image so you'd get a higher resolution with a small loss in detail & sharpness. They probably didn't think it was necessary for the 40mp sensor since the crops are decent size. If you shoot raw + jpeg, the raw is always at the original 35mm and only the jpegs are cropped to 50 or 70mm. So if you like out of camera jpegs you can use your x100vi as a 50mm lens, 20mp sensor camera or a 70mm lens, 10mp sensor camera which is great I think. Also you have the option to use HEIF instead of jpeg, I haven't tried it but it should give you a bit more flexible file. Considering the WCL and TCL adapters and the fact that you can combine those with the digital teleconverter as well, the x100vi has pretty good focal length & shooting experience options for a fixed lens camera.

    Thanks for the video. Would love to see more examples of how each of your changes to lighting affected the shot. Loved the content… you’ve almost convinced me to go Fuji.

      I would think so. You’d have to look up and see if what model will sync with that camera. It may be the Olympus version??

    I'd been using the Pentax DSLR system for years matched with Sigma mid to wide zooms and very happy with the quality and "atmosphere" the Pentax/Sigma coupling was able to create. Having said that the weight of the gear was getting me down so I looked around and finally jumped into the mirrorless pond and got a Fuji X-10 married to the F4 16-80mm lens. Last year my partner and I went on an extended Euro tour (Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary), by which time I had upgraded to the Fuji XT-5, still using the 16-80mm. While that lens is not one of the lenses Fuji claims is "compatible" with the higher resolution XT-5, I was very pleased with the result of the more than 2,000 shots I took along the way using only the 16-80mm. If 10% were not up to scratch, that was due to lack of skill on my part and nothing to do with what the 16-80mm lens can actually achieve if you know what you're doing!!! Since than I got the venerable 18-55mm (now made all but obsolete when Fuji recently released its new XF 16-50mm F2.8-4.8, which CAN resolve the XT-5 40.2MP sensor),and the Sigma F2.8 10-18mm lens, a wide angle marvel! All that said I agree with your opinion about the versatility and quality of the Fuji 16-80mm. Like the old 18-55mm, it surpasses all expectations and then some!

    I have same setup. But silver ring of an FL lens won't turn when I put the adapter on. Any idea why?

    • @Todd_Kuhns
      @Todd_Kuhns หลายเดือนก่อน

      Will the ring turn if you put it on an old film camera? If so, I can’t think why it wouldn’t work on the correct adapter. If it doesn’t go into a film camera either I’d make sure the ring is working properly.

    Its attachment is not good? Gets broke easily?

      I have heard that this is an issue. However, the ones I own have a metal attachment and haven’t been a problem. I think at one time it was plastic and those were the ones that broke.

    nice video, thanks for taking the time. this is a forgotten camera for many, but it's the one that got me out of long weekend hours in a cramped bathroom developing film, pulling contact sheets and eventually, hopefully, a few prints. it was my introduction to what it meant to post process in good light while seated in a comfortable chair, perhaps a coffee or cocktail in hand, and have a finished print framed and hanging on the wall 45 minutes after i shot the photo. honey, i'm home!

    I have the 16-80 f4. I was on the fence about it for a while because of others raving about the sharpness and that extra stop of the 16-55 2.8. The more and more I used it, the less I felt I needed the 16-55. The focal range of the 16-80 is just so versatile. Its plenty wide on the 16 end and I get perfect extension on the 80. The 6 stops of image stabilization is fantastic plus the fact that the lens can detect when it is mounted on a tripod and turn off its image stab is so handy. Ive found that having the f4 all the way through plus the stabilization more than compensates for the 2.8 i would've had on the 16-55, so i can shoot with lower shutter speed than I initially realized. I say all this to say I glad I did not sell it. Its such a unique lens and at a really great price used or new. Thanks for making the video.
