I'm a senior product designer that wants to share my knowledge about design to the world. I want to help other designers or people who want to transition into this role by sharing my own experiences. I'm also a painter, I play online games, and I write stories, I love books, and I'm an introvert 🥲 so I consider myself shy but I'm trying to get over that by posting more content online. 💖 I hope we can all grow together.
Top 14 tips I wish I knew as a Beginner UX Designer!
I recorded a video yesterday which is much, much better than this one. However, when I realized I had no audio, I decided to edit this footage instead.
That said, I hope my top 14 tips are short, sweet, and helpful for those just starting out in UX design.
The most significant shift for me has been being kind to users, customers, and the business. We need more empathy for the team and the business we’re operating in. 😄
Alright, without further ado, here are a few books I recommend reading.
1. User Research - Stephanie Marsh
2. Web Form Design - Luke Wroblewski
3. Inspired - Marty Cagan
4. Simple and Usable - Giles Colborne
5. The Mom Test - Rob Fitzpatrick
6. Just Enough Research - Erika Hall
7. Rocket Surgery Made Easy - Steve Krug
8. The Elements of User Experience - Jesse James Garrett
9. Lean UX - Eric Ries
10. Measuring the User Experience - Bill Albert and Tom Tullis
11. Atomic Design - Brad Frost
12. Building for Everyone - Annie Jean-Baptiste
13. Hooked - Nir Eyal
14. Don't Make Me Think - Steve Krug
15. Continuous Discovery Habits - Teresa Torres
16. Sprint - Jake Knapp with John Zeratsky and Brad Kowitz
17. The Design of Everyday Things - Don Norman
18. UX Strategy - Jaime Levy
19. Thinking, Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman
20. The Fifth Discipline - Peter M. Senge
There are so many disciplines in UX :D So keep learning.
Also I'll be coming out with a Newsletter soon. Stay tuned :3

Life has been so busy lately that I've been procrastinating because I feel overwhelmed by the amount of work I've been doing. This week, in particular, I'll be busy with a couple of interviews with clients and jobs I'm applying for 😵💫🥲, so I'm deciding to prioritize those. Do you enjoy walking videos? Let me know. I'll consider doing more of these if they're fun~ I did record a couple of video...
What I learned about localization and how you can use it to grow in new markets!
มุมมอง 583 หลายเดือนก่อน
Localization is a fun topic. I heavily researched it while working at another company. In this video, I share a few tips on what to pay attention to when building this out. Similar to accessibility, it's difficult to "localize an app" if it hasn't been thought to do it at the start. So, when you're thinking of eventually scaling, the critical thing to remember is to ensure some form of modulari...
Learning How to Pitch Myself - A Few Lessons I've Learned

Lucky to have met Aura McKay from www.businessofcreativity.ca Today, she shared a lot of actionable tips, like using a template X hires me to do y so that z Usually, when you go to networking events, you also want to get referrals. - Ask for two referrals - One might be good, one might not be good. - Three is too much. I'm excited to keep working despite some of the setbacks that I'm feeling. T...
Why I NEED a Knowledge Repository: My Personal Experience!
มุมมอง 3063 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi everyone, this is Anne Reyes from Anne Reyes Designs. Today, my partner and I talked about how difficult it is when my notes are all over the place. Despite having a knowledge repository in Notion and Obsidian, it's still another task to maintain it. To be honest, not all information needs to be stored since some things are too strange, like "What is a tummy tuck?", which can be easily searc...
How I got hired for five full-time design roles over the past 14 years!

The title says it all. My first strategy was the spray-and-pray approach. - I was stubborn and persistent - It's almost the definition of insanity. In Dubai, all I did was apply, I had a quota of 10-20 a day while doing my job search, and I would get calls within 1-2 weeks. - When I was trying to find employment in Canada while I was in Dubai, that same strategy didn't work. I applied to 2000 j...
Things I like and dislike about Canada after moving here!

Hi everyone, this is Anne, a senior product designer, founder of Anne Reyes Designs, and an immigrant Filipino in Canada. Just so you know, I'm not an expert. I can only share what I know from my perspective, so note that this is biased based on my own experiences. - So Canada isn't perfect. That's the long and short of this story. But despite all the problems I've faced and my whining about th...
Uncovering the Lies: Busting 11 Myths in UX Design

The title is a bit too extreme 🤣. I'm not angry, and this video is not me hating on anyone for whatever reason. I'm just here to share common misconceptions about UX - and this is especially useful if you're starting out, or if you're already in this field, maybe you'll find it super relatable! To everyone else who's here in the channel for the first time, I'm Anne, I'm a senior product designe...

Hi Everyone! I'm Anne, a design consultant from Canada. I have been working as a freelancer since 2020. And a few months ago, I decided to pursue my passion and really invest in myself. Part of that is starting this TH-cam channel, making my own brand, and letting myself face the discomfort of not being "great" before I start things. I wish I knew I'd never be fully 100% ready before I started ...

I lost my job... Now what? How to stay strong and not panic.

Hi, I'm Anne! I'm currently looking for new opportunities, but as many friends said, I should take the time to recharge when I'm laid off. Sometimes, people want to look for the next best thing immediately, possibly due to their circumstances. That's okay. I was also like this for a long time, always rushing. If I find a great company to work with, that would be great! I'm still actively applyi...

Sounds like lezzies have a much easier time here than back with your own people, and that hefty price is worth the empty wallet.
Yeah for sure! Being able to express yourself is so celebrated here. There's a lot of freedom despite the price tag.
Supporting you 🎉
Thanks 💞🔥

"My mind is working against me sometimes" I know that feeling. This is a good video.😀
Thanks John! We just have to be kind to ourselves when it happens. Glad you liked it.
It's really nice of you to share your thoughts ❤ Thank you😊
Sharing my thoughts made me feel vulnerable, but it also felt very freeing because it allowed me to process what happened. I'm glad you appreciated it. Thank you!
❤❤❤
Anne!!! Great video! Keep on posting more! After watching this video, I realized that I should do more of what I like, what I love, post more, share more, stop procrastinating, and work more on myself because life is too short to worry about what others would think! 🔥 Thanks for sharing your experiences and life lessons! 🖤
Thanks so much, Marc~ I'm glad this helped you somehow!
