Dimirti I hope you get this. I am a dance instructor in Florida and we love the dances and music in this video. Do you have a copy of the song, specifically the first one or the specific name of the dance. My email is starrvoula@yahoo.com if you would like more details
Give us a break....you don't sound like a good orthodox yourself.
well i'm a greek woman, and i'm not covering my hair for no one. leave that to the muslims. respectfully, i like the modern version.
@rasimoo999 Care to explain how you've come to this understanding. It's one thing to say non-liturgical items shouldn't be on there, but to criticize liturgical items on the later seems a bit odd. They're not reading from Harry Potter. How are they supposed to read from the books when their hands are full (for example, when they are preparing the bread and wine)? I've just never heard of this criticism before and I'm hoping to see your response.
@adamantis4657 .....Such is life unfortunately, if you were more learned in specific situations you would know that these priests did not install such pews. These are however not an orthodox tradition but slowly and surely they will be removed, once our congregations learn not to use them. However your perverted mouth has again failed you, it is better at times to keep silent and not shame yourself.
Christ is in our midst dear Nikolaidis--The Holy Gospel and only the Holy Gospel should be on the Holy Altar. perhaps that is not so in the Greek Tradition, in which case I should not have expressed my sadness rather just be silent. Forgive me for having offended you. Gerasimos
@rasimoo999 You speak about the sadness of having Books on the Holy Altar. Tell me, where else are the Gospel Book and the Hieratikon (Book with rubrics on how to conduct Divine Liturgy, Vespers and so on) meant to be placed? The Holy Gospel is ALWAYS on the Holy Altar. The remaining books remain on the Altar too, for the celebrating clergy READ and CONDUCT from them.
AsIi said i cannot judge the hearts of those clergy. may God bless them and you to have a wonderful Pascha.
Beautiful...I converted to holy orthodoxy about a year ago!

Because of the "Harmolypi" who is mean sadness and happyness in the same time, sadness for the death of Christ and happyness for the Ressurection! In the orthodox church the vestments of the priest during the night of the Holy and Great Friday is in the colors of the declining sun!
They're liturgical books with Chants to be used during the service, what's wrong with that? Those books probably never leave the church, let alone the sanctuary. o_O The priest chanting seems to have some passion in his chant, I don't really get an impious impression from this video, then again, I don't get an overly pious view from it either. It's a 36 second clip, I think you're looking into it too much.
Yes you are, you just can't partake in the sacraments like Communion, Holy Unction and things like that. This priest is a pretty good chanter, very nice.
Okay, Thanks!
Man, i wish my church did this.
not only that. but lighter colors represents the hope of the resurrection. Which happens just the night after this service. so it represents pascha (easter)
According the eastern ancient tradition the night of Good Friday in which the Service of the Burial (holy Saturday matins) is taking place the priests must wear golden color paraments. In other places use purple-mauve of black paraments following the western tradition.
Nice video. Can anyone tell me why the priests aren't wearing dark vestments, though?
not all orthodox tombs look like this one though.
it was in another similar video with maria farantouri,s voice ...i sent it to you last night
Thank you for sharing, I remember this video very well, but somehow I don't see my comment here. Maybe it was removed? It is interesting to see Orthodox Church and its traditions. HAPPY EASTER!
The tomb of Jesus, is the wooden structure you see covered in flowers. It is called the kouvouklion and inside this is housed the shroud with Jesus's body upon it. This is the Eastern Orthodox representation of the burial of Jesus' body after his crucifixion ! . . . . the spreading of the flowers represent the victory of Christ over death and the resurrection of the dead to follow :)
Brave brothers and sisters, try also to SING during dances, to show and share better your courage, the fearless ultimate Greek heritage to the exhausted by neo-pompeians humankind. Thank you for your smiling presents!

ieatbruins4bfast, these women are crossing themselves with the holy sign of the cross - from their foreheads, navel, and each sholder. . . .this 'symbol' and action is to show respect to the hymns being sung and the priest who has come out to perform the great censing of the church for the 9th Ode. hope this helps.
Very beautiful. :)
Nice Church
I remember when I was a United Methodist (now I am a Lutheran, since 2001) when the pastor wore a black-colored alb with a purple stole for Advent and Lent, which signified the penitential periods before Christmas and Easter respectively.
The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, is basically a Vespers service ( evening service) with communion added to the end of it . The Hymn he is chanting is the "Katevthinthito" - Let my prayer come before you as incense, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice, Lord Hear me !
very few people get to see this part of the presanctified liturgy
