Finding a mentor can be super hard! I started by asking all of my friends if they knew of anyone that worked in development, from there I joined communities online. In the beginning any advice is useful, no matter the dev field they were in. @@daniel-guillen-1 I've been wanting to follow a career that let's me travel sometimes and doesn't require me to be tied to a single place to work, so I was a little bit dubious about choosing software development over civil engineering , but your story convinced me to follow this path in life. I'll go to sign up to CS Engineering this afternoon. (Besides, I already have a couple of projects in my mind) I know it may take years to achieve what I want but in the meantime I'll code on my own and raise a portfolio like you said in 5:09.

@@dedstrock I completely agree! Software engineering is the best way to financial freedom and grants you the ability to work from wherever you want. Best part is, you can get paid huge salaries that only get higher with time. It sounds like you are about to start in the field and will go through most beginner problems. However that’s perfect news, I can help you get through those problems because I already faced them and get you to your goal faster and easier. Would you be interested?

@@daniel-guillen-1 classes are going great, I'm currently working with a group to make a mobile app that finds a meetup point on a map thats halfway between you and a friend. as for personal projects, I plan building tools for my portfolio, thanks for asking!

What tech stack are you using for mobile? And if you need any help with resume projects, you can reach out to me! I have a whole community for that exact same reason lol!

@@daniel-guillen-1 thank you very much! I just found your video on my recommended, watching your video's when I ave the time it's a dart program using geocoding with openrouteservice to find and display the meetup location.

That sounds awesome man! Geofencing is really fun but can definitely be a pain! Dart is a pretty fun language too! I’m guessing you use flutter alongside it?

@@daniel-guillen-1 I think your approach is great but it is only applicable on a very large project. Most of the times projects are not that large in node js.

@@bhanusharma2363Gotcha! I agree with you, I think we should find a balance between over engineering and simplicity However I believe the only way to find it is to test different architectural designs
