2024 CuriousDIY Project Kit - Cable-Stayed Bridge
Go the mile with the CABLE-STAYED BRIDGE KIT!
CAPS alignment: Grade 9 Term 1
For more learning resources just like this one, visit www.curiousdiy.co.za
A cable-stayed bridge is optimal for spans longer than a cantilever bridge and shorter than a suspension bridge. This type of bridge is characterised by its towers or pylons and cables/stays which run directly from the tower/s to the deck, forming a fan-like shape or a series of parallel lines. There are many examples of this type of bridge all over the world and many of the designs are beautiful.
By building this kit, you can have your very own!

Hi I bought you pack for living space and the are instructions
Hi there, The purpose of this kit is to serve as a self-design project. This means you'll use the provided components, the Inspiration Booklet, and the Design Guide to create a solution for the given scenarios (you have 3 to choose from).
het my 2 weke geneem om dit te doen en 2 mense in my klas en om weer te begin en jy hou aan praat in plaas daarvan om tot die punt te kom, maar dit was baie lekker want ek het 100% (dink ek) op die opdrag gekry
Hi there! We're thrilled to hear you (hopefully) did well on your assignment! Thank you for your comment - we aim to include as much detail as possible in our videos to make them accessible for everyone, even those who aren’t naturally tech-savvy. If you feel comfortable skipping the extra details, feel free to fast-forward through the sections you don’t need. Stay curious!
@jefaeducation sorry my partner in the assignment wrote this even though they didn't do anything but it was very helpful and my teacher said that my safe was the only working one she saw this whole year

Thanks for the tip!
Where can we get the kit used to make this
Hi there, You can purchase any of the kits posted on this page on curiousdiy.co.za/
What if "creasing" the cardboard with the ruler breaks the ruler?
That’s unusual-we haven’t encountered this issue before. Only a light amount of force should be necessary for the creasing, so it’s possible the ruler may have had a pre-existing crack. We hope you still enjoyed working with the kit.
This is not how cubes and cylinder appears visually in 3D, the diagonals will never be parallel as the vertical nearer to you will appears taller than the vertical further away. When the two verticals appears different in height, the diagonals will not appear parallel. As for the cylinder, the lower half of the oval will be thicker than the upper half due to their difference in distance from the viewer. thus it will be more curved at the bottom and flatter at the top.
Hi there, While you are correct that objects will not appear like this in the real world, this type of 3D drawing is known as isometric drawing, which is a method of graphic representation of three-dimensional objects, used by engineers, technical illustrators, and architects. It does not take into account perspective and reduced size due to depth of space, but is used to simply and clearly depict 3-dimensional objects on a 2D plane.

does the weird looking prestic dry
That's what we call Curious Gum!! (its' real name is Butyl Seal) and it does harden slightly over some time, but won't dry completely. It's great to be able to stick things together in a project and keep going!
Thank you, good concept but the electromagnet is very annoying I must admit, I did everything as instructed, although for some reason it never really worked.
I agree but mine's working but just my door🤔.
