In this video, I REALLY do a step by step DCC and DCC SOUND Install into two of my Amtrak p42 locomotives from Athearn RTR (Before the genesis line). You will see me install lights, solder lights, solder wires, and install sound. You can still buy RTR p42s with a nine pin harness and DCC components on ebay for very reasonable prices. Part one. on finally fixing and caring for my engines. This is re upload that is shorter and more detailed. E bay is where you can find those kits for relatively cheap. I bought mine for $30 dollars, I almost got one for $15 but lost the bid. I still love the Blue Box and RTR models because they allow 8 and 9 pin conversion.

I Finally have an update for you. Heavily edited. When I say 6 years for a bachelors degree, This means I took double time at community college (part time work, part time school). and 2.5 more at State college (Full time). I will graduate no later then December 2024. (This was filmed the night before I go back to college)

I bought these off Ebay used and they work well. yes they have the same decoder as the p42s and ac4400(sold). I keep reusing the same 2 decoders. now a days, i can only afford digitrax. some say they are trash. but they do the job. thats all that matters. i have to remind my self not to sell these. I had no freight engines for a year They are Athearn SD50s skip to 00:25

again... the amfleet twos dont run good so I have amfleet ones. Id bought broken athearn p42s from ebay to fix my engines.

A request from a viewer I know the long distance single level over night trains dont use amfleet 1s. My Amfleet ll (Walthers Proto) suck and are too heavy. they will be demoted to regional intercity trains on my layout.

Great question: I use bachmann ez track radius 33.25 inside and 35.50 outside.
I really like the fast track angle. It’s what I use and with weathering and ballast it almost looks hand laid. What are your radius curves.

I have been looking for a video of someone repairing my most favorite locomotives the GE P42 i always loved these locomotives because I been on two Amtrak trips with them.

I like this train with the engines running back to back, instead of elephant style, I’m sure would agree that the second locomotive looks better running backward too

I use the 35.5 radius bachmann nickel silver track. Yes you can use 22 radius.

Croton and Rhinecliff I couldn't see really.(mostly cause I sat where I couldn't see the platforms)Hudson the train doesn't stop there. The video is missing other things to. But I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. I definitely wanted to document the two trains combining in Albany. Glad you watched it. It means alot.

Awesome and I think the standard consist is all Coach Class and at the back is the Cafe and at the very back is the Business Class. Cafe and Business Class are the same car. These will work very well with the SC-44 locomotives as both are used on the Illinois Zephyr.
I have 300 and you have that and 305. I have a plan and since I only have 300 I plan on next getting 301 then 305 and if in the future more are made then I will get those like if there is a 308, 309, etc. Will you also be getting 301?
