Hot take: this is the best climax to a Paper Mario Game

This is the best final boss music ever in any game ever and if you say otherwise, you are wrong.

I love how this song starts out as the most basic, bog standard, run of the mill rpg final boss theme ever, what with the organs and vocals and all that, then 10 seconds in says “screw it! We’re doing our own thing here now! Make way for the guitar!”

At 01:24, there's a popping noise that seems to not fit in within the track and was randomly placed there. While this would usually a bad addition to a track, it's actually good. This is because Haltmann is insane and irrational thanks to what happened to him. The popping is a great representation of his insanity. Symbolism of his insanity was probably why they added a popping sound in the track.

Half past midnight on May 1st. I'm tired, but have slept through the previous night. I have a headache from VR all day. I felt nauseous. I then went to my playlists and listened to this for 2 minutes, and immediately my tiredness and nauseousness went away, only leaving behind a smidgen of a headache!

This I think perfectly suits the finality of the situation, not just on Kirby's end but Zero's. A reflection of Void Termina's will, knowing nothing but fury and sorrow. He'd once tried conquering Pop Star, to spread out his pain onto others to relieve his own, but it ended with his death. Through Void's rage he was put back together as a broken wraith. More rageful and crestfallen than before. But through that sadness filled him with a stunning thought. This was all or nothing. For darkness to prosper in the universe, he must win this fight. So, for the first time in his continued existence, Zero-Two puts that rage and sorrow into a _nobler_ cause. Darkness shall endure.

The sheer number of ways this level has to one hit kill you with still scares me to this day.

Recently fought the final boss on my second play through. My party was damaging it for some time. I went to heal them up, only to realize the Darkest Lord was on 1hp. I then had my player character do a standard attack which dealt the killing blow. My player literally killed a dark god by effectively punching it in the face.

One of the very few times Bowser actually was a threatening villain. Lost that aura since then.

Me and the guy playing this game next to me started jamming OUT to this banger. Bowser is awesome.

Awesome they included this AND a remix of it in Star Allies! (The remix is when you fight Morpho Night when playing as Gooey in the Guest Star Mode.)
