    Thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge. I learned a lot of new things. Aren't you able to palpate the biceps muscle distal to the superficial pectorals?

    • @K9CoursesSpecialist
      @K9CoursesSpecialist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, you cannot palpate the muscle belly as its deep, however, you can palpate the Biceps Brachii tendon of insertion. I hope this helps?

      @@K9CoursesSpecialist Hi thank you so much for responding. What muscle/muscles are covering the biceps distal to the superficial pectorals but proximal to the biceps tendon of insertion?

    • @K9CoursesSpecialist
      @K9CoursesSpecialist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@don156 please check out the extensive Superficial Pectorals attachments and area and this includes both the ascending pectorals and the deeper transverse pectorals which make up the Superficial Pectorals.

    • @don156
      @don156 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@K9CoursesSpecialist All of my anatomy sources (including "Miller's Anatomy of the dog" which is the main US anatomy text) show the Biceps Brachii as a superficial muscle below the Superficial Pectorals insertions that you mentioned.

      @K9CoursesSpecialist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@don156 Excellent news you have an accurate canine resource as Millers and check out Millers and Evans' Anatomy of the Dog 5th Edition page 270 m.biceps brachii and it states this muscle is covered by superficial pectorals and lies deep, the tendon of origin and tendon of insertion are both palpable but the muscle belly lies deep and it is definitely not superficial in the dog. Check out the fascia arrangements too, to help you orientate yourself so you understand where it actuall lies cranially and medially on the humerus.

    Barbara can you advise on DM cases and buoyancy aids with palliative therapy, do you still advocate no buoyancy aid?

    • @K9CoursesSpecialist
      @K9CoursesSpecialist ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tracey, using Therapeutic Handling, Holds and Movement Shaping techniques with a dog in water or on land requires a specific clinical skill set, so its not a simple case of no buoyancy aid as it depends on each therapists training and skill's. We have never used a buoyancy aid for the conditions you describe as have the skills in place to ensure safe and effective practice. We know that buoyancy aids limit progress as the core stabilisers (Epaxials) do not engage actively as they would with Aquatic Movement Shaping and natural balanced stance and motion. Buoyancy aids are for safe practice for many as they develop their manual Therapeutic Clinical Skills and I hope this helps?

      Thanks for your lovely feedback. I am not aware of any US courses which utilise canine movement enrichment techniques working with the dog and with their consent. These are totally different to training tactics and dog games. We use a therapeutic and holistic approach to canine movement which is dog centric. I wish you luck with your studies and moving over to dogs, its the best job in the world. Check out k9hscourses.com for some great online short courses that may interest you.

    Hello! I'm sure its a complex question to answer online and especially with little to no information, but I have a 1,5 year old Akita female that seems to lack all and any gluteus muscles. She has a bit of a funny way to walk and run but she can trot pretty well now as far as I can see. We have been doing hydrotherapy, walking in water twice a week for 7 months. She was considerably 'worse' when we started but I can still feel the bones around her hip area. Any theories on why she has these issues and how to work on them?

    • @K9CoursesSpecialist
      @K9CoursesSpecialist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question and it is best to find a recommended canine therapist to fully assess your lovely dog and devise an individual treatment programme, to include a re-assessment each session. Integrated practice combining canine hydrotherapy with land based movement therapies and techniques always optimises the dog's progress and outcomes. I hope this helps?

    Hi Barbara, I use licky mats and this really helps to get the head in a good position and balance the dog? What are your thoughts on this?. I thought I was using what drives and motivates the dog and I find the licky mat calms the dog as its a natural functional activity they use when relaxing. I do proprioceptive work in the UWT often as it's great for the afferent pathways.

    • @K9CoursesSpecialist
      @K9CoursesSpecialist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beth Jane, We have a great resource coming soon on clinic enrichment which includes feeding enrichment techniques from a therapy viewpoint. They can work so well and depends on the dogs behaviours, posture and height of the lickimat, and when in the session it is introduced, thanks for your great question.
