There were quite a few spot on comments in this video, genre awareness, how knowing too much about something can make it more difficult to enjoy at times, but especially about how books are marketed. I mainly use Libby and even there they immediately compare books to something else. "For fans of XYZ" is there and you have to scroll down for the actual plot descriptions if they give you it at all. And you can't even trust the comparison to begin with.

Oh I did not know that about poinsettias/nochebuenas. Likening traditions to viral fads was also very funny but true.

Thank you. At first, I hated that these books were compared to Jane Austen, but the more I reread and rewatch it, I can see those elements with each couple. But out of everyone so far, I feel Colin is the most like Darcy. He constantly tries to help Penelope and her family, tries to save her reputation like Darcy did for Elizabeth. When Colin says or does something wrong, he strives and works hard to make those amends like Darcy does. I also like that he can express himself and show his real self to Penelope on the book and show which he does not do with his family and the ton. Spoilers for show everyone: That scene where he said “too many to count” when his siblings asked him creating that air of mystery, but with Penelope, he immediately “I have been to 17 countries and I have learned that charm can be taught.” Ok then Colin. While Colin and Pen are friends to lovers, what reminded me of Darcy and Elizabeth is their progression of the relationship and how long they took to develop their feelings and be on the same page. Also, the love confessions are very austenian, which I appreciate.
