Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs (AAIE) cultivates and energizes youth and older adults to take, make, and see dance. Through our pioneering outreach programs, we reach over 10,000 participants each year, partnering with hundreds of schools, older adult facilities, and community organizations. Expanding on Alvin Ailey’s vision of sharing dance with the world, we inspire people to explore their own creativity and experience the joy of movement.
Celebrating 35 Years of AileyCamp
This year, AileyCamp celebrates its 35th anniversary. Our founder, Alvin Ailey, started AileyCamp as a summer day camp for children aged 11-14 in 1989; it was the last initiative he spearheaded for the organization before he passed away. It has since expanded into 10 cities, offering free dance training, creative writing instruction, personal development, and communication workshops to hundreds of children across the country.

The Ailey School Junior Division

The Junior Division offers year-round dance training for students ages 3 to 17, ranging from introductory classes for preschoolers to curriculum-based programs preparing students for professional careers in dance.
