Best Camping in Snowdonia? | 4 Days in the Rhinog Mountains
George and Amber-Rose take a 4 day trip to the Rhinog Mountains in May 2024.
This was our first time in Snowdonia and we wanted to check out the Rhinog Mountains to avoid the crowds. What we found was a beautifully rugged mountain range, a lot of bush whacking and some sketchy swim spots.
This is our 26th hiking video in a series where we tell the story of our rewilding trips into nature.

    Great vid! Really well-shot, makes me excited for my own trip this coming May. Did you complete this section of the trail in 3 days? Im thinking of taking my time to walk this section, hopefully stretch it out to 4 days. Any advice on how I should plan it? Thanks!

    • @beyond_domestication
      @beyond_domestication ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya! Yes it took us three days. You could definitely make it last four days (especially if you go right to the northern tip of the island on the first day after getting dropped off by the bus like Scotland Mountains did on his channel). That could mean camping on the coast at the end of day one, rather than making it up onto the ridge straight away. But once you are on the ridge the hiking is fairly straightforward and the water spots are fairly spread out, meaning you have to do certain distances just for water. However, May is likely to still be very wet! We had awful weather on the ridge and missed a lot of the wildlife. In good weather you are destined to see Golden Eagles etc so there are lots of other reasons to hang about up there, assuming you have the water. I definitely recommend Scotland Mountains video as he went a slightly different route at the start and into Portree that could lengthen this section out a bit. Very jealous! Enjoy the trip 🌳💚 (pack a midge net 😂👍🏻)

    It’s interesting how in North America wild invasive pigs are the single worst threat to the environment, but in Europe they’re okay ?

    • @beyond_domestication
      @beyond_domestication ปีที่แล้ว

      We are severely lacking in biodiversity and keystone species. Private land owners are generally reluctant for wild animals to access their land limiting the chance for their pops to spread too rapid. They are great for us where we have them

    • @conorsheehan9929
      @conorsheehan9929 ปีที่แล้ว

      The term “. Invasive “ is really only a human construct. The whole planet belongs to all the wild creatures. We are the greedy species who put up the fences and borders without consulting the creatures who were in existence long before humans started making all the obstacles to suit only us . Humans are by far the most selfish “ invasive “ species .

    • @spijkerpoes
      @spijkerpoes 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wild boar are indigenous to Europe and Asia. In Western Europe hunted to extinction in the 18hundreds. A century later reintroduction took place for pleasure hunting for the high and mighty. Alas, the accompanying top predators were not reintroduced. (wolf and bear (saber tooth cat)) Now in some parks in western europe you can find them but their numbers and behavior is much disconnected from a real ecosystem. Before the wolf did make a reappearance here in holland about a few years ago, I could spot them easily. Nowadays, they are much more stealthy. As are the roe and red deer. Hunters are not happy. Farmers neither. A balance is still far away. We do have invasive species here too, it's a big problem with no real solution other than a 100.000 years of adaption and peace and quiet to let everyone adapt. I would love to visit Knepp some day, they are pioneering very important work..

    • @tarajones6923
      @tarajones6923 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Pigs were introduced to replace wild Boar which cannot due to risk be replaced into Knepp, the pigs are an important part of the eco structure and have helped the rewilding process by turning over the soil and spreading seeds. The are kept in check by the Kitchen that sells their meat, like all animals in Knepp they roam free and so are healthy and not farm pigs. They have worked out a good balance. Rewilding is about balance for all the species to thrive natural, a hands off approach but stocks are controlled which help finance the project.
