Land Cruisers on the Rubicon Trail 2020
A group of 8 Land Cruisers tackled Rubicon in July of 2020, including what we think are the first 200 Series. 8 trucks in total, 5 80's, 1 100 Series, and an LC 200 and LX570. Three days on the trail and we all made it off.
Video does no justice to the relentless nature of the trail, and because we were so focused on getting through it, we missed video on most of the major obstacles. Here's what we got...

2018 HITR - Hole In The Rock Trail with Land Cruiser 200 Series and 80 Series
มุมมอง 1.9K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In August of 2018, we took 2 200 series and 1 80 series Land Cruisers to the Hole In The Rock trail. 70 tough off-road miles in two days. We had been on the trail in the 80 a few times but finally got to run the 200's. Fantastic trip.

How much did those drops hit the stock bumper? Usually a little paint giving to the rock gods is required lol
Quite a bit! The stock bumpers are pliable so no harm really. Almost all of us upgraded to steel by now though.
If there is no music ruining the video it would be a good video
So it's possible to get an LX570 down there!
Крузак вещь!!!
Christo Slee as your spotter = priceless
Just read the article in Toyota Trail on your trip. Congratulations on finishing the Rubicon. Can't wait to take my 80 on the Rubithon run this summer.
You will love it! A perfect trail for an 80. Relentless but nothing that isn't doable.
did you all lift your LC200 or is it stock?
Most have some kind of lift. One of them is stock.
LX570 2016 stock with 33” tires. Love your video!!! I wish I can join your overland adventures someday.
is this car's have diff locks
Hi. Out of the factory the 200 series doesn't. Many add them. Factory includes ATRAC and Crawl Control. On this trip I don't know of anyone that had added lockers at that point.
Stunning views, looks like so much fun! I'm curious, why does it look like nobody was using the feature to lock the inside rear wheel to make tighter turns around the switchbacks?
That feature was added in '12 or '13 so most of these trucks didn't have it when this was filmed.
on the fj80, 35s or 37s? clean rig
The 80's were on 35's except for one of the white ones, on 37's. Mine is the green one in much of the video. Its a relentless trail, but the 80's really had no issues getting through it. No winching. Couple of scrapes on the flares here and there. Fantastic trail. Wish I wasn't so far away.
Wow brother wow your video made my heart happy
Those guys made it look easy! !
G wagon and rangerover left the chat.
nice I'm sorry SUPER NICE i just boost a 2018 LC
Hopefully the running boards didn't fall off
This is the most boring Black Bear Pass video I've seen! Don't get me wrong. Boring is good in this case. I'm now convinced that my overland vehicle build will be a 200 series Land Cruiser.
Good choice!
Love these. Love seeing the LC200 doing this stuff. One thing these videos are validation for me is that those rear bumper tire carriers just change the clearance problem from under the truck to behind the truck.. Im putting mine on the roof.
You might want to rethink that. The tire never is the clearance problem, and throwing it on the roof changes the COG which makes off camber situations a bit more tricky.
Kudos to the dude on the LC200...thats not a cheap truck to take ion a trail that WILL damage your truck .
You got that right. Balls of steel and did take a little damage but he took it all in stride knowing going in that it was almost a certainty. Big ass truck!
I'm thinking of bringing my '02 Sequoia up there next year. Good to see bigger-than-Jeeps can make it through the hairpins.
You'd have no problem with a Sequoia. Maybe a 4 point turn becomes a 5 point but who cares LOL.
Toyota Trails magazine (TLCA) would love the story on this run. editor@tlca.org
I'm sure we can work that out!
02:00 music is the best
I can see why this was a fantastic trip! At 13:55 that hill looked pretty steep, nice job. When are you headed to the Rubicon? It is in our backyard. You will love it out there!
I do love HITR. We are heading to Rubi at the end of July if Covid cooperates. Really looking forward to it!
Wow this was so cool to see. We did Hells Revenge and I wish I had gotten video. It looks like you guys had so much fun! I just found your channel and looking forward to watching more videos.

Nice videos bro and good job woohoo good..
Not too much intrusting
どこの国でしょうか こんな所走ってみたいw
This is in Colorado, USA. In the Rocky Mountains
I came to this TH-cam channel just to say, more content is needed, I want my Landcruiser fix
I'll be on the Rubicon this summer and will have one then. Thanks!
Great toyota kept the secret that can make the great height with brand name fixed.
Awesome video man. Very cool to see the 200 series on Black Bear.
Too bad this video is ruined with lame music
sorta disgusts me with the amount of vehicles on the road.. otherwise great vid
Aah.. LC200 porn.. pls post more.. love the content.. subscribed. 80 series owner here
Lovely vid, however music spoils it. There's nothing better to hear than the engine and tyre sounds. Shame !
Did your 200 series have lockers? Or just relied on the A-Trac? I'm trying to plan my build on my 100 series and wondering if there was any other equipment other than armor that is needed.
8LIFGR8 4x4 hey, for most of the trail atrac would be fine. There are a couple of spots that could pose a problem for you so at a minimum of make sure the leader on the trail has lockers to pull you up in case you can't make it. One ledge in particular is very tough. We all have lockers F/R. Great trail so have fun!
wow if you made one mistake hell you go
Great big Country and very well maintained no Challeng Road for any Suv two Whell with Propert Tires at right psi ,all the Same. Now is the Landcruisers pulse up not even above sleeping pulse. .
amazing place
awesome ... i could live vicariously by watching your video that way i don't have to subject my LX to such conditions; love it.
You can do this with range rover.. for sure king of off roading the beast land cruiser
Cheers for the spotters
continuation of this tour will be?
Don't need the crazy music..........
Whoa ... 4:25: Paul Harrell theme music
Cool, my 2019 LC only has 3000 miles, might wait a bit before doing that. Although was in Moab a couple of weeks ago and had a blast 😊
Hoping to go there in March. 2 Wranglers. How hard was route-finding? Is the trail pretty well marked?
Hi, the trail is not marked well. There are spots where you are traversing over rock and the markers are rebar posts. I'd strongly suggest getting a GPS track of the route to be safe. Not somewhere you want to be lost.
I appreciate the video but don't understand the point of that drive. It was neither overly difficult nor was there a destination Point like a lake. Most important thing is everybody got home safe thank you for the video.
Rxonmymind not sure if you've been to this part of the world but the beauty of the journey traveling through the Rockies is why we drive that trail in addition to the fact that the destination is telluride Colorado. It's a one way trail. In that area there are many similar trails linked that cross passes at 13k ft. It is spectacular.
Awesome, I have a 2016 LC 200 fully rigged and can’t wait to “Go West”!
Made the trek from Atlanta, and worth every highway mile!
Moving from Ft Lauderdale to Johnson City, Tn early 2019. Maybe in the future I can tag on to your convoy
We get out there every year so you are more than welcome. go to www.ih8mud.com if you aren't there already. search LCDC in the 200 section and you'll find us.
that's it, after my 4runner, i'm getting a Land Cruiser
I sure wouldn't steer you away from that smart move :)
