the COB: rate cut rally | 08.11.24
The Australian share market finished a dramatic week on a positive note.
In a week dominated by the Trump trade, the Fed’s expected interest rate cut and our own RBA meeting, the S&P/ASX 200 rose by 68.80 points or 0.84% to 8295.10.
Expectations of further stimulus from China pushed local miners higher. Gold explorers were a shining point after the precious metal rose back above US$2,700 an ounce. The resources sector finished higher by 0.9%.
However, Mineral Resources was one of the few miners to fall, as superannuation giant HESTA placed the company on its watch-list over the management of the company’s C-suite change. Moody’s also downgraded the stock. MinRes finished 0.03% higher.
NewsCorp announced a new CFO as the media giant posted its highest first quarterly revenue since splitting its company into two more than a decade ago. First quarterly revenue rose 3% to US$2.58 billion, driven by growth in its digital real estate services, book publishing and Dow Jones segments. NWS shares rose 2.1% to $48.22.
The tech sector climbed close to 2%. However Afterpay-owner Block fell 6.1% as its 19% quarterly profit jump missed expectations.
The rate-sensitive real-estate sector rose 1.1%. REA Group reported a 21% increase for its September quarter revenue, sending shares higher by 0.3%.
Meanwhile, as traders reposition following the Trump victory, TD Securities has changed its forecast for the start of the RBA rate cutting cycle. It now doesn’t see a cut from the central ban until August, 2025.
Ahead tonight, US consumer confidence data is due. Sony and Icahn Enterprises are among the companies issuing earnings.
Next week, key jobs data is released locally.

Yeah, nah
Thanks for the informative video, your information is incredible, however, knowing that everything related to investing. the most important thing that everyone should think about now is how to invest in different sources of income that do not depend on the government. Especially considering the current economic crisis in the world. This is still a good time to invest in different stocks such as gold, silver and digital currencies. All thanks to David Frank Trader for the coaching.✊

Some may agree, others may disagree. My great appreciation for David Frank daily signals and tips on the well-researched predictions I received!!!.

I'm hoping the sun will rise again. Brought the dip at 93c. Let's go!
Evolution Mining is going to be a long term winner at $1370 per ounce total cost. Newmont has been under performing this current bull market. Dinosaur 😅
Good interview. I'm a holder and keen to see continued growth
they are all wrong. It's a BUY and the share price will reach 5 dollars by the end of November!
What are you basing that on
They were right…
Invest in it or maybe not?
Thanks
The increase of revenue is due to gold price soaring. It is not due to the management effort. The management fails to control the cost. CVS fired their CEO a few days ago. Newmont should do the same.
NEM should hire professional management, this team is in over their heads.
Hahaha don't believe it...I mean fk h..
Managemetn should be fired. A share to avoid a situation like this and here we are 5% misses and 15% down like a penny stock
Down 14% today LOL
I know, im about to pick some up i think
Flt back down to covid pricing, stronger income , bigger distribution network and increase in profitability in a inverses yield curve market. Another global stimulus... these guys are going to kill it. I bought options through covid and made a killing. Another opportunity on the horizon
Thanks
