A guy in the Midwest USA who messes about with O gauge New York Central (on a budget) and on occasion, live steam. Also dabbles in 4mm GWR broad gauge.

Need to get you some little clamps
Bravo !
beautifull
Exhaust sounds good.
Looking good & running well! Would a very thin washer behind the rod on each crankpin be enough to save the paint but not push the con-rod out too far? I had a similar problem with the pressure gauge on my loco. I cannot tighten the mounting screws all the way or it won't move.
It is staggering that it runs after all this time. I am surprised the boiler is still mostly steam tight and didn't break somewhere! Must have been built tough.
When I first saw pics of this loco, some months ago, I was less than convinced it could be resurrected in the fashion I've just watched. Well done!
Must have been a great sight back in the day when those big Brighton tanks roamed the earth.
2:32 That's a nice working signal. Did you build it?
ooo! happy to see you got the wheels! she looks excellent :3
Very atmospheric & you have invented a great new fitness regime!
Uummmmm. Needs a tender with a axle driven water pump maybe. It's running great. I'm sure you'll get it performing even better. Great work dude
It’s a tank engine so doesn’t have a tender. I’d like to fit an axle driven water pump but there’s very little room….
@@douglasmcdermott2830 fair call. I was not aware of that. Saw the round boiler and thought engine. Tank engines that I'm used to seeing look square with side tanks. Excuse my lack of knowledge. It's still very exciting to see it run on the screen. Would be even neater to see in person. I'm a very glad you're sharing this with us all
Congratulations on getting it to move under its own power! Thanks for sharing.
It's so cool that you were able to take a basically junked live steam engine and turn it into a functioning locomotive in a matter of weeks!
Great too see it running on a set of rails. I wonder if there is a way to set up a servo in the cab for the direction and throttle to run buy Radio control rather than you happening to run after it
For better or worse this engine uses what is called “slip eccentric valve gear” which can only be reversed by moving the entire engine backwards or forwards. Hopefully I can build an oval of track at some point so I don’t have to run after it (it’s faster than it looks!)
@@douglasmcdermott2830 it did seem to scoot along very well. And hello from New Zealand
@@russcole5685wonderful country, my family is from there. I spent many hours when I was very small wandering through Parnell Engine Shed in Auckland before it closed and was a base for Mainline Steam Ltd. I think it’s a parking lot now.
@@douglasmcdermott2830 yes, I remember, Motat was also a great visit. Sadly I have not been to Auckland in many a year. Thanks for bringing up those memories. I'm in the manawatu, lower central north island
HELL YES! She runs really well! even if she's clearly missing some of her wheels, ehehe-
Yes I’m working on getting castings made for the wheels
@@douglasmcdermott2830 oooh! lookin forward to that! she's a Pacific type, right? that or a baltic-
@@canadaw.e6461yes, pacific. The LB&SCR did make a Baltic version but it was never as good as the pacific. Water tanks were too big and they tended to be unstable
Great job with your videos . It has been my experience . That varying the density of the wick material ,more material at the back moving forward less . I believe that the wick closes to fuel source is robbing the others . Liquids seek the path of least resistance . You have really done a great job of the whole affair ❤
That’s a good point that I hadn’t thought of. I’ll try that when I need to replace the wicks again. Thank you!
Not fire box I should have said wick holder.sorry
@@CharlieMowday no the wick holder/burner is original to the engine, I just fitted it with new wicks.
Did you make a new fire box or just new wicks.
You just gained another subscriber.
Nice to watch and learning a lot about live stream.
Glad you enjoyed it
If it is indeed a brownish looking LBSC colour, I think it will be Stroudleys 'Improved Engine Green'. Yes, really, google it! They don't make it like that any more lol.
This is a very interesting project, I'm excited to see where this goes!
A chap called Forsyth did some drawings for the same class in G1. I would say Bez-Bra but then again I am common and come from south London.
for something from 1912, this is shockingly good!
why didn’t you give me videographer credit
I don’t know you didn’t exactly film all of it

Nice. :)
An American consist would be fun for a Mogul.
Nice engine, running well
that is late 18th century
Appreciate a bit of help. I have just acquired a completely dismantled one. I have figured out how 90 percent of it goes together but I am stuck with the layout of the pipes on the reversing block. Not sure which is steam and which is exhaust or how it all connects up to the cylinders!. Rgds Graham Powell
Hello Graham, congrats on your acquisition. I’d very much like to help, but truth be told, I’m not really sure either as I’ve never had to dismantle mine that far.
@@douglasmcdermott2830 Thanks very much anyway. rgds
come back dougie
Bruh who is this
Wow shes looking great
Thanks she’s about 3 days from completion but the tender is about 2 months out from being done lol. How’s the Black 5?
@@douglasmcdermott2830 ahh yess my British 19D Im ashamed to say but i haven't touched it yet 😂 Im planning to complete the tender soon tho But alot has been going on in between So i cant carry on with it for now
Excellent
Yo Keith what’s good
Wow Youve done a great job
Thanks mate it’s not done yet but we are getting very close! The engine will be done by February and then I will start on the tender.
@@douglasmcdermott2830 fantastic My engine is coming along slowly Infact its still just 4 frames

misleading title. i don’t see a bank or you running. please improve
Is that you driving?
Indeed it is, I was testing a new sprocket setup. We need to go a few teeth higher as I am still hitting the rev limiter.
@@douglasmcdermott2830 cool. It’s good to have interests and I see you have at least two.
Wow its really coming along
Are you gonna ad coupling rods?
Once the wheels arrive yes.
This is the first locomotive made in a gauge of 2 inches known to have been made since the 1940s, it’s still a long way off from completion but can now move itself.
