Year of the tiger- Chinese idioms and slangs that you can learn about the the character hǔ虎(tiger).
Chinese new year is the biggest traditional festival in China. It is also called spring festival which means spring comes. Chinese seasons are based on observations of the sun and stars. Many Chinese calendrical systems have started the new year on the second new。moon after the winter solstice.
The 12 earthly branches are today used with the heavenly stems in the current version of the "traditional Chinese calendar" and in Taoism, it's an acient dating system that is still used in many Asian countries.
In ancient China, 12 zodiac animals were pick to represent 12 earthly branches, 12-year is a circle and all animals repeat.
2022 is a year of the tiger and the next tiger year will be 2034.
Tiger in Chinese is hǔ虎,in this video I introduced a few Chinese idioms that contain the character hǔ, because we have a tradition of wishing people a good new year with idioms that contain the zodiac animal of that year.
I also introduced how we use this character as a slang. Hope you guys like this video.
