TOE SOCKS review and Benefits // Vibram, Injinji, ToeToe, Spacer Mobility 👣
In todays video, I review my entire collection of toe socks by the brands Injini, Vibram 5Toe, Spacer Mobility and ToeToe!
I compare all pairs, share the benefits of them, how much they cost, etc...and then I share which is my favourite brand!
I started wearing toe socks exclusively over 6 months ago and I love them, and could never go back to wearing conventional "normal" socks, much like how I could never wear anything other than barefoots shoes now either!
✨ Toe socks allow your toes to splay naturally and align properly, enabling greater stability and more comfort. With each toe protected, skin-on-skin friction is completely eliminated protecting your foot from blisters & hot spots. When your toes are separated, your weight is distributed evenly which allows your entire foot to be engaged in any athletic activity. This allows your foot to perform exactly the way it was designed to!
Each toe is wrapped in sweat-wicking material, so your foot will be drier and therefore more comfortable than in traditional socks!

      I have to admit, my Fulhams (and my recent Sensus) are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. They are quite worn-looking but I actually like the "rustic" look, and the outsoles are just as good as when I bought them several years later - I'd wear them to bed if I could haha!!

    Great review! I love toe socks - at least until laundry day! I was getting very painful corns between the last two toes on each foot and these prevent them from recurring. I'm surprised you didn't mention the laundry as a disadvantage though. I've been buying them for years and they only colors back then were black or white. Once you get a lot of socks that are the same (like 5 pairs of black socks), you have to have a left sock and a right sock for a pair, whereas if I had 5 pairs of identical conventional black socks, any two I pull out of the laundry will be a matching pair. I found an awesome tool called the Sock Dock, which allows me to match my socks up as soon as I remove them, launder the matched pairs together, and then hang up all my clean socks together. I'm grateful toe socks are becoming more popular and now Injinji makes them in more colors and patterns. Injinji is my favorite, as well. They are expensive, so I'm on alerts for sales. They do last a very long time.

    • @redcurlvegan
      @redcurlvegan 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I didn't mention the laundry as a disadvantage because I don't see how it could be an issue for anyone. When I take my socks out of the machine I hang the pairs alongside each other, 1 left foot 1 right foot, and when they're dry I fold them away together... Unless I'm misunderstanding your predicament, I don't see the difficulty in putting a left sock with a right sock regardless of the colour or amount - the same amount of socks come out the machine as went in, so the pairs will always align regardless, and it takes 2 seconds to do 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for sharing though, and thank you for watching 🙂

      @ChynnaBlue1 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@redcurlvegan If 5 pairs of identical black socks go in, I can pull ANY two out and match them. If 5 identical pairs of toe socks go in, I have to pull out a right and then find a left to make a pair. That's an added inefficianecy.

    Love the toe socks review! I've been wearing Injinji for the past couple years, and have even converted my husband to wear them for work and hiking. My favorite are their dinosaur and UFO ones, as well as more sleek options like all black. I highly recommend the Trail Midweight Mini Crew for most activities. Thanks!

    Hey guys! I filmed this a few months ago, but amongst poor mental health and lots going on in my personal life, I wasn't able to upload it until now! This was my 4th attempt at making this video and dozens of retakes - for some reason I really struggled with it. I'd promised to make a video on toe socks over 6 months ago, so to avoid further delay I decided to just publish it despite the low quality filming - I'm grateful for your patience 🙌 I appreciate your support whilst I work on my camera nerves and anxiety 🙏💚

    A bit much talking for my head that easily get very overstimulating, - you dont need to apologise for anything for example. I also miss an evaluation of how soft the soles are and feel, as I love the FG sole feel but worry that FG 2 is harder and less flexible! Talking and feeling calm is an art, remember to breathe deeply and take small breaks! Air in a video is just nice🌞🤍

    I know it’s a controversial topic and leather just tends to last longer and especially if the shoes can be resoled it makes it just as sustainable

    • @redcurlvegan
      @redcurlvegan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have to agree, even if some may find it hypocritical of me - I want to opt for the most sustainable option possible and I don't see any other barefoot companies offering repairs or refurbished shoes, so I want to back businesses that align with things that matter to me. My approach only applies to barefoot shoes though, because they are a health investement and I want to prevent landfill waste wherever I can... I wouldn't buy anything else, even secondhand, that contained wool or silk or leather, it's just pre-loved barefoot shoes because of their long-term benefits 🙏

    I suspect that many (not all) shoes on ReVivo are ones people have tried for a bit and then returned within 100 days to Vivo which they obviously can’t then sell as new. The existence of Revivo is probably how Vivo can offer the 100 day returns. So they are more or less new, just tested by someone else first. I have the same model and love them.

      Hi, they were advertised as simple 'MAGNA FG' on Revivo but I have always wondered whether they're 'Trails' as there a lot of similar pairs on Revivo but sold under different model names, I wonder if the Magna has gone through a lot of stages but I would say these were definitely one of their oldest models of Magna FGS... Hope this helps and thanks for your comment/watching 🙏👣

    Thanks for the Revivo Review. Is there a big difference between good, great and excellent with Revivo? Seems like Good is still quite a high standard. Also, congrats on 1000 subs!

    • @redcurlvegan
      @redcurlvegan 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh thank you! 🥰 It has taken me so long to get to 1K because I haven't been able to put as much time/effort into my channel as I would have liked, but it feels great that I can help or inspire people 🙏 With regards to Revivos condition categories, I have honestly found most of my 'good' pairs to be in great condition (apart from perhaps my Tracker Hi FG because they're a very old model and I think they repaired/refreshed them as best they could)... Honestly I think I only own 1 pair of excellents (unless this video says otherwise I can't remember😂), they're like new really. Another viewer made a good point in a comment the other day, that the 'excellents' are likely pairs returned under the 100-day guarantee then passed onto Revivo and having that scheme in place is what allows Vivo to offer such a generous return policy... I think it depends on the age of the model and of course how much use they got in their previous home, but I've only ever been upset by their condition 2 or 3 times (so I returned them), otherwise they've always been brilliant and my personal rule of thumb is just to go for the lowest category (cheapest) possible if I'm lucky enough to find my size in multiple conditions 😅 In a previous life (3-5 years ago) I would never have wanted to wear secondhand shoes, but now I actually like that they aren't new and have been refurbished & given a new life and prevent waste, plus I can return them for repair so they're more sustainable too 🙌

      That's right, I sold them last year 😊 I think I did speak about this in one of my videos... They were true to size - my usual UK size 5... I haven't owned a size 4 pair of shoes or sandals since I was a teenager which was 20 years ago 😊 They just had a little excess material around the toes compared to conventional sandals and the way my foot is positioned in the thumbnail may make them look a little loose, it was just the rear strap that was a bit troublesome, but otherwise they were a comfortable accurate fit 🙂 Thanks for watching 🙏

      Oddly, the stripes I described in this video seem to have faded and the sole appears to have almost gone back to normal - absolutely no idea why or how 😅

    May I ask about the volume of your feet? I have a couple pairs of Vivos and I love them, but they are all laced and I have very low volume feet. I am dreaming of Vivo geo chelseas, but just wondering whether they will be comfortable with my low volume feet.

      Thanks for your comment. By low volume, do you mean not high in the middle upper of the foot? Not sure if this helps, but I have pretty dainty feet ☺️ and find the Geo Chelseas to be absolutely fine & perfectly comfortable 🙏

      @@redcurlvegan yes, well, not high in any part of the foot in my case. Thank you for your encouragement. I am currently waiting for those Vivos to be back in stock and cannot wait to order them :)

    I absolutely hated the laces on the primus trails, I replaced them with lock laces which are stretchy and it was a much better experience!

    This is such a helpful review 😊. Im really close to buying a pair as they look great, so would fit my brief of wanting something that would look good with jeans whilst doing my day to day outdoor stuff with the kids. But ultimately they would be replacing a fully waterproof (non barefoot) pair of boots that have been so dependable for me, including muddy walks and going out in the rain. I worry that if i get a pair of the DFG2 i will love wearing them, but will still need to end up getting something else for muddy walks and wet weather, which i cant afford to do!

      Thank you for your comment and apologies for the delayed reply! Boots like these are pretty great for anything, but I totally get what you mean about needing a "muddier" pair 😊 I sent these back for financial reasons in the end, sort of similar to what you say, but I will say that transitioning to all-barefoot shoes wasn't an overnight process... It took me pretty much 2 years, ensuring I didn't waste any of the conventional pairs I owned and I sold as much as I could to get the money together for exclusively zero-drop shoes 🙌 Everyone's circumstances are different of course, and I am a typical frugal virgo who doesn't spend money lightly 🤣 but I realised from the moment that I bought my first pair that they made total sense and I had to invest my disposable income in my health. I don't spend money on lots of things that people around me in society typically do, in order to be able to wear only barefoot shoes, so I completely understand what you say about the cost of them... My hope is that the more popular they become, hopefully they'll start to lower in price (supply & demand theory), also getting them all refurbished/second-hand from Revivo really helps ☺️ I'm glad that my review could be of help, despite my lack of confidence on camera, it means a lot to me to help/inspire others 🙏💚

      Thanks for such a comprehensive reply :) Im barefoot journey seems to be very similar. I started wearing the Sundried barefoot training shoe about 12 months ago, purely because I found trying to deadlift, squat, lunge (or pretty much any other exercise) in the gym really unstable with conventional soled trainers. At the time i didn't really know anything about barefoot shoes and the wider benefits, just that they made weight training more stable! Fast forward a few months and id pretty much warn these shoes all Spring, Summer and Autumn for every occasion other than work and smart occasions. They felt so great in they gym and running around with the kids, that i quickly found it really hard to wear my other shoes. But most importantly, I've had a chronic back/ hip issue for about 10 years and broke my ankle 5 years ago. When wearing the Sundried shoes the pain in these joints slowly went away over the course of 2023. As soon as i had to start wearing my conventional "winter" shoes/ boots from November last year, my hip and ankle started flaring up again, and have been all winter. So im now starting to look at how i can replace all my conventional footwear for barefoot, but as you've said, unless you've got loads of disposal income it has to be done step by step. I've just purchased some new Vivo Primus Lite 3's in place from Vinted and they are easily smart enough for the office and going out for drinks etc. Autumn/ Winter boots are my next step, which i will probably near for most things until the Spring (after which i will go back to the Sundried shoes), so they need to stand up to the elements whilst also looking good in a smart casual setting. I'm going out to the States in a few months to visit family, so will be picking up a pair of Lems Outlanders for this purpose, and cant wait to try them out!@@redcurlvegan

    On the CorrectToes website there is great how-to info on slight modifications you can make to customize fit. You should be able to solve that digging problem. And if you want/need more splay, those slots in the pinky and big toe spacers are for adding material to do that (I used pieces of old foam insoles). The best use of these to me is to flexibly hold your toes in natural alignment during active movement so that everything gets worked out in the right ways that build natural function. It makes sense that the ones with a single size would tend to exaggerate spread on smaller feet ;~) If you enjoy the extra stretch, it's all good. I have some of the squishier type, too (Naboso brand), with the same shape/design as the ones you have. When I try them on as in your pictures, it feels inside-out to me, as it's stretched against the curve of it's design, creating a tension that feels like it's pulling together on my toes.. the opposite of what I want. I wonder why the info card shows wearing them that way? It doesn't put the little spacer/dividers in any different position between the toes; it only creates a gathering effect on the toes. Great sharing and review, as ever, thank you!

      Thanks for your lovely comment! I do remember there being ways you can modify the Correct Toes, but honestly I just find the Spacer Mobility ones more comfortable ☺️ and they stay on/in place better in my opinion. I agree with you that these are ultimately best for holding your toes in natural alignment during active movement 🙌 Thanks for the tips you've shared, and for watching - it's much appreciated 🙏

      Thanks for your comment🙏 I personally choose not to buy from retailers like AliExpress, however I did have a quick look on their website out of interest following your comment and none of them seemed to be genuine (not Spacer Mobility or Correct Toes originals), just cheaper copies, so not the same; plus it's not the sort of marketplace I want to support. But I'm glad you have found a solution that works well for you and I hope they help 🙏

      @@redcurlvegan I have purchased the original and the "copy" and after use found no difference in the fit, flexibility, and material used they even lasted around the same time. All these products are manufactured in some or the other south east Asian country and then sold for a huge mark up in the US and Europe.. unfortunately this is how companies work. I'm not trying to promote cheap labour markets but I'm also against companies that charge huge prices for products that don't seem to be worth that much.

    • @redcurlvegan
      @redcurlvegan 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's fair enough. I try to buy direct/from the root wherever possible (rather than a marketplace that sells a ton of cheap mindless stuff), and support the "smaller" companies if that makes sense. This also encourages a much less wasteful world, and purchases that are more intentional. I guess technically both the overpriced and underpriced are imperfect, however supporting a specialist niche retailer (whether that be clothes or whatever) is more sustainable than something like AliExpress or Amazon (or fast fashion) for example which tend to discredit individual/independent businesses. In today's consumerist mass-produced society it's impossible to be perfect, but we do our best... Thanks for sharing 🙏

      Where my budget allows, I prefer to buy direct & purchase the original genuine product and support smaller more independent brands/businesses and do not buy from Amazon for a multitude of reasons, but I am glad you have something that works for you 👍

    Have you tried Wildling shoes?

    • @redcurlvegan
      @redcurlvegan 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have actually. I bought the 'Kune' a few months ago, originally wanting a very similar pair which is sadly out of stock and unfortunately I can't remember the name of them... They were great and incredibly flexible & comfortable and VERY close to the ground, but the way the bottom of the sole is constructed (has a sort of gap of material in the middle), I worried they'd let a lot of dirt in and not last very long. So I returned them. Wildlings don't do many "earthy" colours for my liking, and I think that they are better suited to dry climates/terrains as they don't seem to be as sturdy/hard-wearing as other brands, so better for the summer in my country (in my opinion) or a drier environment 😊

      Thanks for your comment. I'll be honest, as much as I love Revivo, they recently changed their returns process/system and it's been a negative "update" in my opinion (which I have communicated to them). I have a few pairs I've needed to return lately and for some reason they now issue an order number starting with 'GE' as well as a 'REV' number once you've placed the order.... When trying to return them I only have the option of DHL (which is very expensive) and as a UK customer I no longer seem to be able to request a Royal Mail returns label which is very frustrating. I am currently in contact with customer service about this and they say they're fixing it but it's been several months unfortunately so I'm hoping they sort it all out v soon 🙏

    While not a downside but a consideration.... if you're in the US and want to return the shoes you pay shipping back to the UK. It would be nice if they could provide a discounted return label. Thanks for the video 😊
