Sweet Dreams Van Life
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 ม.ค. 2024
We built our van in three months with ordinary tools. You can too! Follow our channel for more detailed van life videos.
Sweet Dream Van Life travels to Newfoundland 3500 miles. Camper van trip of a lifetime.
Get a small glimpse of what it's like to travel from Indiana to Newfoundland in a camper van. We went through Quebec, Nova Scotia (including Cape Breton Island) and then rode the ferry over to Newfoundland.
Thank you to our dear friends Lloyd, Bev, Fred, Joanne, Dave, Rita, Harold and Jocelyn. They taught us how to fish (jig) for cod.

DIY off grid Camper Van full tour. See why this tiny home won BEST IN SHOW at Peace Love and Vans

The name of our van is Sweet Dreams. We built it in three months in our driveway in Indiana with basic tools. We didn't design this to be a "weekender" van; we designed it to live in for a month or more at a time. At Peace Love and Vans, our van won "Best in Show", due to it's home feel, functional layout, bathroom with shower, 39 gal fresh water, 4 gal hot water, and a 24v 600ah battery bank, ...

What did this all cost?
Very nice build!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I applaud you for including a smoke/CO detector, but coming from a 27yr firefighter, the placement is less than stellar. By the time any smoke were to reach the floor (smoke rises), the entire van would be filled, and you most likely wouldn't make it out alive as you would have been overcome by smoke in your sleep. Not bashing you, just trying to offer some sound advice ... put it on the ceiling.
Thanks for your comment! Yes we moved it up a couple weeks after we made that video.
Very well made.
Thanks Kenneth
Nice van!
Thank you!
I love that he bathroom isn't in a big closet at the front when you walk in the door. I like the feel of openness when walking into the van through the sliding door.💯
I totally agree! Thanks for the comments.
Short and simple, liked and subscribed!
Welcome aboard! We will have a new power video coming out soon.
Camper is nice, but those legs…….Damn!
Thanks for that comment! Angie’s legs are nice too! 😂
I thought you might say that. I’m glad she wasn’t left out. Thank you. 😊
Absolutely Perfect
Thanks!
Couple of guitars ❤️ Music
Right now we have two guitars, a bass, and a ukulele. 😀
@@SweetDreamsVanLife ❤️
Well designed, well thought out. Impressive
Thank you sidhed!
Je tiens à saluer la concrétisation de votre ‘tiny house’. Votre réalisation est remarquable et témoigne d'une belle audace créative. La complexité d'un tel projet rend votre accomplissement d'autant plus admirable. Chapeau !
Thank you, Robert! Those comments mean a lot to us. It was quite a challenge.
I think the video was perfect everything that we needed to see and know was shown and spoke about very good very good you did such a great job and your husband genius he's a genius I love the setup and I have to tell you that garage is awesome I know for a fact that because I sleep in a recliner I would have to maybe do something a little different upfront so that I can have a recliner there instead of the dinette set up but your setup is beautiful❤❤❤ PS if you and your husband are building for other folks and someone like me needs to sleep in a recliner I would love to see where would you put the recliner for one person to sleep and of course the other person sleeps in the bed so I was thinking like where your bed is in a in a van for a person like me and my sleeping Arrangements could it be instead of a full queen bed could it be one side a twin size with the garage and a recliner on a platform with a garage maybe what do you guys think help I want to see what it might look like because I would love to build out a van or have somebody help me build out a van for me to call home sweet home
Glad you enjoyed the video. I would do a twin size bed in the back, and a recliner next to it. I would probably lower the bed a bit so you could be close to your honey but still sleep in the recliner. A nice recliner with a cup holder and usb charger built in. Or what about a power recliner bed? Do you have something against punctuation? 😂 Do you want a leather recliner?
Супер.
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your lovely build. I love central vacuum!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
She looks great ❤
She? Are you talking about the van? 😂 Yes, she does.
Yes. Not the van. Don't know why .but she is so beautiful to me . With all my respect
Im inpressed.. the central VAC idea was awesome especially for a neat freak like me
Glad you like it! A lot of people we’ve met, have never heard of that vac, but now they have installed one.
Really nice but I can't do a bag toilet.
Understand! If you built a van, what kind of toilet would you use?
I like the build, but I wouldn't sleep close to the dogs in a small space. I used to have dogs and I loved them, trained them, hunted with them. But in very small spaces I would not want to smell even clean dogs all the time.
I can’t smell our dogs. But I know that short haired dogs usually have a stronger smell.
Very impressive 😅
Thanks, chief! Bet you never heard that one before. 🤣
Your van is beautiful! Thank you.
Thank you too!
I’m impressed, this cannot be your first RV. If it is you are both flipping geniuses. Great job on ideas. Thanks!
Wow, thanks! That comment means a lot to us. Thanks for watching.
the background noise outside of your van was a real downer ... the rest was awesome!!
@@richallcorn sorry about the noise! It was boat traffic on Lake Havasu where we decided to film this while on the road. We tried to get them to float a while, but they kept going! lol thanks again for all the wonderful remarks. It means so much to us.
I was impressed with alot of the interior and choices, light switches, and the backsplash. You consideered A LOT in your design. I'm impressed! My hats off to your husband, as from the photos it appears that he had a lot to do with the planning/work on the design. You two make a great team! P. S. I love the "heated floor"! I'm VERY IMPRESSED that you can run the A/C for at least 24hrs ... awesome!!!
@@richallcorn wow! You really took the time to notice our little details. Thank you for the kind comments. It means so much to us. Yes, Tommy did the planning for layout details and all the electrical and plumbing. Angie did the insulation, wiring, painting and general design for colors, etc… it was definitely teamwork! The little details make such a difference. Thanks for noticing! Do you have a van?
Great and super functional build!!🥰🥰👍👍
@@65plusfabulous56 thank you!
Did she say the other fire extinguisher 🧯 is in the back in the garage 😭😂👌
@@derrickrayford6453 yes! If we are at the back of the van and there’s a fire we don’t want to have to go to the front of the van for an extinguisher. Safety first!
@ I understand I’m just having fun with you calling the back of the van the garage 😂👌✌️
@ oh!!!! lol It is funny that it’s called that!!! Thanks for the laugh 😆
This might be the best build I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
@@dsmck70 thank you for that comment…that means a lot to us. We really appreciate you taking the time to watch. Happy trails!
Just buy one.
@@francisza22 that would be one option, however, we have never seen one with a comparable electrical system or all the other amenities that were important to us (and we’ve seen hundreds of vans). If you could find one like it, it would likely be well over $200,000. Building it ourselves allowed us to have all we needed for $80,000. It was really hard work, but worth it to us. Thanks for taking our tour! We hope to see you on the road sometime!
Built Not Bought!!
@@Psalm9one1 it was quite the project, but so worth it! Thanks for the comment!
The Guitar is my highlight!
@@mlowack we travel with our little two man band! Do you play?
Well thought out design. Thank you for sharing.
@@genedegiorgio1617 thank you for the nice comment and for taking our tour! It means a lot to us.
Nice job on van and luv da outfit he's a lucky man ❤ I recently purchased a 30FT RV class c for RV LYFE FULL TIME
@@KRUCIALmuzikgeniusguy thank you for the kind comment on the van and I am definitely a lucky man to have Angie. Very cool that you’re going full time! We hope you enjoy the new camper and life on the road! Happy trails!
Liked 👍 and subscribed ❤ nice job
The build that I'm impressed the most is with your innovative side entrance, storage, kitchen, compartments, pups bed, and overall ingenious thoughts that both of you put into everything. Beautiful engineering overall. ☆☆☆☆☆
@@AllTheBestCO thanks for subscribing and for the kind comment! We appreciate you watching!
Dang! That checked every single box for me!
@@adam_renfro we are glad you like it! Thanks for taking our little tour!
Pretty amazing. Not much to dislike. I'm fascinated by van builds don't think it is in my future.
@@riogrande5761 thank you so much for the kind comment! Vans really are cool and everyone has their own needs in them. Maybe you’ll give it a try some time!
@@SweetDreamsVanLife In some ways I'd like to, but my wife would never go for it. Plus, my hobby is model trains and I need a space for them! LOL
@ that is a really cool hobby, too! Good for you! Tommy is fascinated by model trains but has never had one.
How much does a project like this cost?
@@crappienaterfishing1198 we have $30,000 in the build in addition to the cost of the van.
Is there a reason no one uses drywall??
@@crappienaterfishing1198 drywall would crack with all the motion and it would be too heavy, but that’s a great question!
I was mesmerized. At the end when I saw the final reveal, my first thought was it would make a perfect little casita or mother in law suite in a back yed, set up permanently. You did a great job.
@@rennietintin8701 thank you for your kind comments and we think your idea is awesome! Someone could avoid the limitations of home owners associations by using a van. Brilliant!
Love this van so much ❤
@@selinabutler1164 thank you so much. It really means a lot to us.
lost income plus material and tools = ????
I’m sorry, I don’t really understand your question but we would be happy to help if you can let us know your question.
What an amazing camper !
Thank you
Absolutely fantastic. A lot of thought and craftsmanship went into that build. Thank You for sharing.
Thank you very much!
If you dont mind me asking what was the cost for building inside the van? Where could we rent camper vans similar to yours?
The build was 30k. I’ve never seen any rental come close to this but you can check the rv rental sites. Thanks for your comment.
My absolute Favorite Van build ever! Thanks for sharing
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for that comment.
I started not to comment because it seems everyone covered it all. I am speechless because of the quality and functionality of your van. You are both are amazing. I am starting my project soon. I have considered just buying one decked out, but I think I will tackle it myself. You have given me tons of inspiration to begin. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much 😀 it is a lot of work. What features will you incorporate into your own van?
Great van and video. Impressed.
Thanks! 👍
so well done...congrats....and thx for the engaging, comprehensive presentation.
Thank you kindly!
You did an awesome job on “Sweet Dreams” Did you keep track of how much it cost you? You did very well explaining everything! Thank you very much!
Yes, it was right at 30k, with the bulk of the expense (10k) being in the electrical system. It was a lot for us but still less than half of what it would have cost to have a builder do it, plus it’s more capable.
Concepts frim rv's. Great! What is the cost?
The build was 30k. Thanks for your comment.
absolutly a work of camping art.........
