Welcome to The Imperfect Drummer!
My name is Brian Peat. I've been playing drums since the early 80s and even got my degree in drums in the early 90s at Belmont University. I've played in tiny churches and 10,000 member churches. I've played with a few well known names in the worship music world (Steve Swanson, Julie Meyer, Georgian Banov, Nic & Rachael Billman).
I mostly play worship music, but I like some good rock or funk too. I try not to take myself too seriously unless I'm laying down a recording for someone. For my own stuff, you may hear me mess up here and there and laugh it off. I decided to just post my stuff mistakes and all.
Gear:
Drums: 2010 Mapex Saturn III Transparent Cherry Red 6 piece Fusion.
Audio Interface: Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK and a Behringer UMC202HD.
Current Drum Mics: sE Electronics V Beat, V Kick, sE8s, Shure SM57.
Other mics: Sennheiser MD46 (mostly for speaking)

ID Labs - Episode 10 - Upgrading a Casio CZ-101
Wel...this video was supposed to be quick and easy, until it wasn't. Then I forgot to video a bunch of progress, so it doesn't show as much as I had originally planned to show.
That said, it does show you just how much of a pain working on the Casio CZ-101 is. Granted, replacing the screen isn't all that hard, but anything deeper is a lesson in frustration.

Part 2 of my customization project for the M-Audio Keystation Pro 88. Pretty decent success with wrapping the wooden top with a fancy, faux leather patterned fabric. I'm not an expert in this stuff, this was a first attempt, but honestly it didn't come out too bad. More to come, though I won't have a chance to video all of it.

ID Labs - Episode 6 - Roland JV-80 restoration - Glue removal, new felts, 3 prong power port

In this episode I tackle the nasty red glue that many older Roland keyboards are plagued with. I cleaned up the inside, removed all the glue, re-glued the key weights, added new felts and replaced the 2 prong power receptacle with a 3 prong to make it easier to deal with.

In this episode, I replace the missing power supply in a Korg TR-Rack sound module with an off-the-shelf board you can get off Amazon or most electronics supply shops. I also replaced the left output jack, though I don't show the work done on that one. I didn't have time to actually video me doing solder or heat shrink work but hopefully in the future I'll show more detail on this sort of thing...
ID Labs - Bonus Episode - Peavey DPM 3 SE

Way back in the early 90s, Peavey started making synthesizers. The DPM 3 was one of the first if not THE first synth that used DSP or Digital Signal Processing. This model has 64k of ram, a slot in the back for 32k sound cards and a 720k floppy drive. It can be expanded to 1 meg by opening the case and adding memory chips on the main board. The sounds are surprisingly good for their limited size.
