The Real Battle Hymn of the Republic HISTORY
มุมมอง 37K13 ปีที่แล้ว
"The Battle Hymn of the Republic" is a hymn by American writer Julia Ward Howe using the music from the song "John Brown's Body". Howe's more famous lyrics were written in November 1861 and first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. It became popular during the American Civil War. Since that time it has become an extremely popular and well-known American patriotic song. Staying a...

Slavery wasn't the only issue that caused the ACW. The splitting of the USA was threatened by the difference between an agriculturally based on a socio-culrural-economic structure, with the vision of a European balance of power, which is why the American Civil War was fought. The issue of slavery is parallel with these other factors. The fact that the British Army's & Royal Navy's officers during the War of 1822 observed that the radical differences between the North and South of the USA were bound to lead to a civil war is testament to the fact that slavery was 1 of several gigantic issues that caused tge civil war. The spectre of more than 2 countries occupying what was tge USA, with many states yet to come into being, meant that civil war was on the cards. The USA wasn't called The Great Experiment for nothing when it was declared in 1776.

such a dramatic story but soo true it broke our union in half, and was family against family, brother against brother, father against son, just like how the military taps solo came to be, hope we dont go that route again but its as divided as were were since the civil rights movement, while our enemies wait at the gates and inside our electronics in our homes, we got to wake up as a nation and come togather over something, and regain our faith or we die, no the founders weren't perfect but they were on to an idea that was good and noble at least on the surface, I miss when we had competint leaders, could come togather over what united us, and when people knew at least what it ment to be a citizen from the usa and what was expected and at least as a whole practiced, no one is perfect, and people even the greatest of men will fall or have skelitons in the closet, but what I do know is prudence and common sense and sense of is this best for the nation are lacking, we cant go on much more like this

Why do christians hate other christians? There is no man that is good no not one. All pastors are not perfect and if you think they are you got a problem. The main thing is doing what Christ commissioned spread the gospel not look at others and compete or get envious or whatever. Billy Graham opened up my eyes to the word of God and so did MacArthur. Look to the coming of the Lord not at bringing down the men of God

    * * * REALITY CHECK * * * in Billy's last tv special, he did state Christ is the only way. However, I'm ok if he could have stated both: #1 Christ is God, the only way, AND there are people who never heard of Christ, and they (logically & mercifully) may be given the opportunity for salvation (perhaps at the moment of death that we never see). Think in terms of the 2 theives next to Christ on the Cross, and his granting them paradise, yet they didn't know him or his teachings. What Billy acknowledged is "his view" is not in Scripture (as many things are not), but nor was he 'teaching it).

Actually, the north was just as biased against the "so called" negro, and I just want to remind you that this war for southern independence was not started over slavery so stop making it all about the "slavery issue". Most northern soldiers were "DRAFTED" to fight the south because Lincoln said it was to "SAVE" the union. Emancipation came later as a "war strategy" because it would help to cripple the economy in the southern states which was primarily agriculture. BTW: an overwhelmingly enormous number of the population in the southern states did not engage in slavery so it wasn't a "southern thing". Let me remind you that only seven states had seceded from the united compact which has always been a Right of all sovereign, independent states (countries) in our union. They left the compact agreement because of an U.S. general government already expanding its power beyond its constitutionally defined limits and stealing the powers retained by the several states, in favor of the industrial north of course. The south's economy was doing well and would've continued and slavery would have ended eventually. Don't forget your history - Remember this.....It was the Dredd Scott case that would have ended the institution of slavery if it had not been for an activist U.S. supreme Court Justice. The south did not cause that decision, a judge did and so slavery continued. Anyway, none of the other states in the south wanted to go to war and remained in the united compact but Lincoln wanted a war and got it by provoking the south. The remaining southern states had no choice but to leave the united compact and secede. They created their own central government with nearly the same U.S. Constitution and named it "Confederate States of America". Its new government did not rebel against the northern union called the United States of America and they just wanted to be left alone but Lincoln wouldn't have it. Members of his own administration was not favor to invading the newly formed Confederate States of America but he did anyway. This is what we call and invasion of another united confederation of states. Lincoln was the aggressor, not the south and someday this true history is going to reach the public. As they say, who ever wins the war, writes the history. Well, this truth is not going to stay in the grave. Slavery never ended after that war against the south and it only made race relations worse than ever. What's worse it that it destroyed the original intent of our federal republic and the U.S. general government has never been the same and is now worse than ever. Many men, and lives, were destroyed because of Lincoln and it was in vain. It wasn't about slavery. slavery was a means to an end and the deaths injuries were horrible, yet slaves were never really free because the scares were too deep and the punishment levied on the south was so devastating after 1865 that healing was impossible. Instead of freedom the American people have had to endure racism and division. Now, racism and division generates enormous wealth and power to those who fan the flames. Lincoln's war against the Confederate States of America destroyed this republic, prolonged slavery via an forced artificial freedom for blacks and his actions remain the curse played out by both of the 2-party paradigm. This song used to make me feel good but after I learned the truth it brings pain and sadness. There was nothing sacred or righteous about that war and is the most destructive event (mistake) in American history.

You have to ask yourself, if the knowledge and acceptance of Jesus isnt necessary, then why, oh why did the apostles travel to the lengths of the known world (at that time) to witness and spread the gospel? Why not just say, "hey, if they are good and seek something they dont have in their hearts, its all good! We dont need to go anywhere!" I am fallible and not in knowing of all things, but this just falls in the face of this reasoning, in my humble opinion.

I was there. It was around 1992-1994. It was at the North Dallas Sectional Meeting for pastors of the Assemblies of God, at First Assembly of God in Garland, Texas on Buckingham Ave. There may have been 50 to 70 at the most but almost all were pastors or credentialed ministers and every one of them in a suit and tie. E Wayne Hanks was the pastor of the church and District presbyter and Rev Mike Smalley who was pastor of Royse City Assembly of God at the time, had invited him to the meeting. He declined at first and said that he no longer took invitations to preach because of his age. Later, he said God woke him up in the middle of the night to pray and told him to go. I remember observing Ravenhill sitting in the chair on the platform and praying into his fist during the 30 minutes of praise and worship and introductions. Rev. Mike Smalley helped him to the pulpit and he leaned on it as he was weak in his legs. I was on the front row and the two pastors that he rebuked were sitting behind me two rows back and they were talking to each other in whispers and seemed to be laughing about things during the whole time Ravenhill was preaching. It was obvious that they were somewhere else mentally and I found it odd that they were not giving Ravenhill their rapt attention. I was told later that it was an associate and a youth pastor from the same church. It was at the end of the sermon that he rebuked them and I was glad. I knew that they needed it. I did not understand why they did not sense the Holy Spirit telling them that this was an historic moment. Possibly Ravenhall's last public sermon. And not just that, but the sermon was fantastic. It was far better than anything I had heard from many of the pastors that were in the room that day so they should have been taking notes. I heard someone say later that some thought he was going senile and that he rambled. The truth is that their minds were probably not used to listening to such rich historic content in sermons and it was their own minds that were wondering. The sermon was all about inviting people to your church services and telling them that the Power of God was there and when they come they don't experience the power of God. He was preaching about what it takes for the power and presence of God to be in your church services. He used an historical account about a Roman General who intruded on the Holy of Holies looking for God and was disappointed. You can hear that in this clip. I prayed that the two ministers would receive the rebuke and not let it offend them because they needed to learn from it. When the sermon was over I was one of the first to the altar (I was on the front row) and cried out to God to be one of the kinds of ministers that would devote myself to the Word of God and prayer in order to have the Power of God show up when I preach. This sermon shaped my ministry. I hope someone finds the whole sermon and posts it. That was my voice that said "yeah" in the final seconds of the clip. The two ministers were not doing anything all that uncommon. They were trying to be quiet between themselves but it was still distracting. They had their heads down talking to each other in whispers instead of listening with rapt attention. They needed this message. Ravenhill sensed that. He rebuked them publicly because if they would go back and listen to his message and apply it to their lives they might very well have been instrumental in pastoring a church where visitors came and declared that the Power of God was there. But they were missing their opportunity. I was told later that they claimed that they were laughing because they had an appointment and as Rev Ravenhill preached longer than expected (because there were musical guests that went longer than expected before they gave him the pulpit) one of them said to the other, "I guess we will be late" and they chuckled about it. However, it was this behavior that they did throughout his whole message that caused Rev Ravenhill to say something. I glanced their way a few times during the sermon wondering why they did not have better manners and thought it reflected negatively on them as ministerial examples if any of their flock were too see how they were conducting themselves.

Jesus chose Peter to lead the Church after he was crucified, Pope Francis is the 266th Pope to lead the Church since Peter, anyone who rejects the Pope is rejecting both Jesus and Peter. What happens when the leader of an organisation dies? that's right, someone else takes over. Pope Francis is at present the leader, whether you like it or not. The protestan church and it's more than 30000 branches seem to spend all their time attacking the Catholic Church and it's doctrines rather than doing what it should be doing. I am a Catholic and I attend mass every week, never once did I ever hear the protestant church mentioned at mass. This sick obsession and distorted view that these flogs have of the Catholic Church is just ridiculous and sad.
